- 1Our tour starts with a wonderful drive along the Athens Rivera. During this relaxing ride, you’ll enjoy splendid views of the Saronic Gulf while passing through some of Athens’ most beautiful suburbs, including Hellinikon Olympic complex, Glyfada, Vouliagmeni, and Varkiza. Arriving at the Cape Sounion, you will visit the 5th century B.C. Temple of Poseidon with its magnificent panoramic view of the Aegean Sea (on a clear day you can see at least seven islands). Cape Sounion has long played an important part in Greek mythology and history, and the first recorded mention of it occurs in the Odyssey, as the last safe landing before Poseidon scattered the returning Greek navy. As god of the sea, Poseidon was very important for ancient Greeks, and the scale of the Temple at Cape Sounion reflects that. Reach Cape Sounion and explore the 5th century BC Temple of Poseidon at your own pace and enjoy 1 hour of free time inside the archaeological site as the sun disappears beneath the horizon.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- natashaj960 contributionsAmazing views! Our tour to Delphi from Athens was a great day out! Driving along through the countryside while our guide tells stories about the ancient times and what would be happening in these areas. Delphi was a beautiful place to see and explore, again with wonderful information being provided to us throughout the whole trip.Written January 30, 2025
- Haroshi R0 contributionsAverage experienceThe overall experience was average. While the staff was friendly and efficient, quickly bringing whatever we ordered, the lack of basic amenities like water was disappointing. Even at the buffet, water was not provided, which felt inconvenient and unexpected.Written January 24, 2025
- G2348KEchloel0 contributionsA great tour! This two day tour to Delphi and Meteora was incredibly pleasant. Mrs Marianna, our guide, shared Greece’s patrimoine: past and present as well as interesting facts with an undeniable passion and knowledge. She genuinely loves what she does and gives you time to appreciate your surroundings. Having experienced worldwide guides, she is undeniably one of the best. The bus has very comfortable seats with big windows which give on splendid views and the lunch is delicious. Long hours of travel are to be noted and are inevitable but the destinations are worth it to visit. The only things which were disappointing were the hotel’s (Orfeas) food and very slow wifi. Overall, it was a very nice experience which I would absolutely redo and recommend!Written January 12, 2025
- ringseal990 contributionsboat trip athensthis was an all day 3 island visit..we enjoyed the trip..lunch was served as well boat was mid size..but with lots room..staff on board were great and friendly..the only issue was the short 45 minute stay at 2 of the islands..but u still got the feel for the place..if time is tight and u wanna see as much as possible this boat tour is worth itWritten January 7, 2025
- Afmurillo0 contributionsGreat tour to fully experience DelphiNice chill tour to Delphi. The guide was very kind and knowledgeable, giving a lot of interesting and accurate information. She'd also leave time for people to sleep on the road. Tour timings were good, although, my recommendation is to hurry a bit to be able to explore fully Delphi temple.Written January 6, 2025
- 922rishabhs0 contributionsBreathtaking sites and an amazing tour guideThe destinations were absolutely breathtaking! Also our driver drove very smoothly and got us to the different places at a good time so we missed the rush of the other your buses. The tour guide- Mariana- was wonderful, very knowledgeable, provided information at the sites and road trip, and shared more interesting facts than the ones in Athen's archeological sites. Everything was properly planned, not just for an amazing tour of the Delphi historic site and the beautiful monasteries at Meteora, but also to take mind blowing pictures along the way and at each of the sites!! Highly recommend this. I will say, though, that the food available at the different places we stopped for lunch, coffee and dinner were not great. Dinner on the first day and breakfast on the second were included, but I felt the lunches and snacks were a bit overpriced and not great. Nonetheless, I still recommend it because the trip was phenomenal. The 3-star hotel that we stayed at also had clean decent rooms.Written January 6, 2025
- 490markdavidb0 contributionsOne of the 5 most visited sites in Athens. This tour was a great chance to get out of Athens and see the suburbs on the way to Delphi which is a lovely mountain town with sky resort like activity. Although we did not have the time to explore the town we just drove by. As per the Delphi ruins, yes definitely worth traveling 3 hours by bus to see it. You must see this and lunch at the restaurant the tour company selected, was great authentic home made kind of food. Keytours tour guide Angela was excellent, the bus was modern and clean. On time.Written January 6, 2025

- H5195NGrobf0 contributionsDisgusting food. Nice trip. The islands are beautiful and the boat is clean and feels safe. The food on the buffet that is included with the price of the boat trip is, I am sorry to say, disgusting. The fish and chicken had awful taste and texture. I told them and one employee that served me a delicious “pay 11 euro extra Greek salad” told me that many customers agree that the included food is “awful” (his word). The nice woman who came by and asked us about our trip seemed unsurprised that the included buffet food is disgusting and thanked me for my honesty.Written December 29, 2024
- LizCassell0 contributionsBeautiful locationGuide, Simon, was excellent: perfect English, nice quantity and quality of information. We had time on out own to go to the top to see the stadium. This was a fabulous addition to my Athens experience. It was easy to find the meeting place for the bus, and the bus itself was air-conditioned with outlets for charging devices. The site itself was a little more than an hour away, and our tour guide pointed out notable landmarks on the ride there. We arrived just in time to take some touristy photos of the Temple of Poseidon then to sit and watch the beautiful sunset over the water. This was well worth my money and I would recommend to anyone with a few hours free in the area.

While I'd recommend going on a Sunset Tour to Cape Sounion to see the spectacular sight yourself, I wouldn't rush out and recommend KeyTours as the best operator to see it with. Staff in the office were very rude and when the coach was late didn't like us asking for updates. The Tour Guide was very knowledgeable and I found him fascinating but he narrated pretty much non stop for the entire journey which some of our group found boring. We got to the site and the tour there was pretty rushed and we didn't get the headsets promised at booking so it was hard to hear over the wind. I'd recommend going but maybe hire a car instead of KeyTours.

The location is amazing, cannot fault the sunset, although the time spent there is limited to the site closure which is 20:00, that’s enough time to get great photos.
Dimitrious the guide gets a gold medal for knowledge of everything to do with the Athens southern regions.
A few tips:
The road is windy and expertly driven, if you’re prone to sickness, I suggest take your tablets.
There is little time for refreshments, so be quick ordering once you’re there.
The request for child ID seems pointless as the child tickets did not seem to qualify for any refunds. A 15 yr old is charged as an adult by Keytours, but the tour company seems to benefit from the discount we would have received as an under-25 from a non-EU citizen at the site ticket office. The same problem occurred on our KeyTours trip to Delphi and the Temple of Apollo.
Nonetheless, it was a lovely memory and fair value.

I was expecting a little more from this, but you are basically paying for a bus ride from the city to the Temple of Poseidon to watch the sunset. I expected a better "tour" from the bus, but our tour guide's English was horrible and I could barely understand her - this was an English speaking bus. she basically was reading off a manuscript that was not entertaining at all. I went Monday July 3rd.You still have to pay to enter the Temple as well (no qualms there).
Sunset was pretty, but I expected more.

The Keytours service is basically a bus ride to and back from the location. The tour guide doesn’t provide any useful information about the Temple of Poseidon but she basically read ad copy for a few of the towns we drove through. The ticket process was not very smooth. The tour guide had to go to the ticket counter to buy the tickets for those of us who bought the tickets through Keytours. You’d think they’d have handled that earlier since you have very limited time (about an hour) at the Temple.
The worst part for me was that the tour guide didn’t tell us that the Temple closed their gates before sunset. When we arrived, we went up to the Temple, walked around, and then went back to the cafe to grab a drink and use the restroom. We were walking back to the temple to spend our last 15-20 minutes and the gates were closed and we were denied access. That was a really sour experience that the tour guide could have avoided by saying something like “Hey, gates close at 8:30, FYI” or whatever time.
Also, on the ride back some people in the front of the bus talked the driver into blasting music.

This is a great tour for a spectacular sunset that rivals Santorini, except Santorini doesn’t have a large Temple to the Gods as far as I know.
The tour guide is excellent, and would get a gold medal for knowledge. The tour is timetabled for the closing time of the temple so there’s no time to waste, but the experience is magical.
The KeyTours marketing suggests you can see the graffiti left by Lord Byron, good luck with that, bring binoculars or a powerful zoom lens.
This is pretty good value, and a comfortable coach ride, but travel sickness sufferers should take sickness tablets as the bus weaves the stunning Aegean coastline.
PS cost savings for youth tickets are not passed onto the customers, there’s little point bringing ID for under 25s from non-EU countries, you’re charged the adult fair upfront regardless.

The tour: the tour bus had no A/C. They didn't leave on time (23 minutes after I was told to be there. Limited information not delivered well. No actual tour at the temple. Just a 30 Euro bus ride. Seats were also too close and uncomfortable. Company is Key Tours
The temple: very pretty, worth all the fus. Getting my tickets there saved me some money and only took a few seconds. Since the tour isn't guided at the temple, 0 need to have them pre-purchased. I just sat and enjoyed the gorgeous sunset. Please be aware, once the sun has set, they shut it down fast. But your tour doesn't leave until after sunset so the timing works.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your feedback and for sharing both the positives and areas of improvement. We're sorry to hear the tour didn't meet your expectations in certain aspects, and we understand your concerns.
Regarding the bus and departure time, there are occasional delays that can occur due to traffic, last-minute guest arrivals, or adjustments to ensure everyone's comfort and safety. While we strive for timeliness, these occasional delays are often meant to help the trip run more smoothly overall. As for the air conditioning, we regret any discomfort you may have experienced, and we’re committed to maintaining vehicle quality so all guests feel comfortable throughout the journey.
Our goal is to provide a memorable experience at each site, especially for guests looking to explore on their own and enjoy highlights like the sunset at the temple. To keep the tour affordable, this package focuses primarily on transportation and timing the trip so guests can enjoy the temple during this iconic time of day. While guiding at the temple itself isn’t included, our guides provide insights on the bus to help make the most of your time. y delivering the historical and cultural background en route, we aim to give guests context and flexibility to explore the sites independently once they arrive.
Thank you again for your comments. Your insights are valuable to us as we strive to create the best possible experience for all travelers!
Best Regards,
Margarita Karavasileiadi

The tour and tour leader , Anna, were great. The bus was an hour late picking us up with no notification. They did respond to an email I sent but simply said they would be there in 10 minutes. For an hour delay, I would think they would contact me - they had the emails. No excuse

This is basically a coach trip to Cape Sounion and back. Long journey there as the coach stopped for many pick-ups and then a 15 minute wait for the tour guide to arrive. She talked the entire 2 hour journey, which was painful. She knew her stuff but it was very dull and just went on and on.
The sunset at the temple is stunning - top tip is to grab your pix just after everyone leaves. Bring your own drinks as the queue for the bar (and the loo) is long.
Well worth the trip to see the cape and the sunset but I wish we'd just hired a car for the day.
