So the Red Line starts at the port of Piraeus. All fine getting on and downstairs is air conditioned
Alot wanted to get the Parthenon which was great for them as the bus stopped there. We wanted to continue but the bus stopped there. It was a hot ten to fifteen minutes walk to the Plaka and the bus staff were hostile and unhelpful.

Excellent tour that is convenient if you don't have much time in Athens. We booked this in advance but you can also do it at the bus stop. There are staff waiting at most stops to help you answer questions. Self guided audio tour. Buses run very frequently and stop at all of the main attractions in Athens. It is also a convenient way to get around instead of using taxi or bus. Our hotel was in walking distance to one of the stops, which made it super easy. Would highly recommend.

Hop on hop off suffers a bit from the fact that weather, traffic and volume of tourists can turn what is basically a good way to see a large city into sweaty chaos. The trip from port to city was very good, but around the centre of the city was overcrowded and chaotic. On the plus side all of the agents were helpful, and it covered most of the city highlights. We had two days so on day two we were able to pick out those sights we wanted a more in depth look at. I would rate the Athens bus value for money.

Nov 2019 • Family
We bought family tickets that gave 2 days hop on hop off. It was a very informative journey. The city tour took you to all the sights and we got on and off a couple of times no problems next bus is 15 mins later perfect way to get your bearings round the city! We used it the next day to go on the beach line which was lovely again very informative and easy to use. You could probably do this cheaper on the metro/buses but this was easy and regular and the commentary was so interesting. Would highly recommend.

We have taken City Sightseeing Buses in London , Stockholm, Helsinki, and Dublin and had a nice time BUT this is the first time ONLY 1 route went back to where the ship was docked or where you could back to your hotel without having to go completely back to the main attraction and switch buses AND NO ONE tells you that. I wanted to get off at the main shopping center but was afraid to as the line of people waiting at that stop to get on our already overcrowded bus was large! Disappointed in City Sightseeing Athens. Much better organization is desperately needed!!

We arrived in Piraeus on a cruise ship. We were able to book our tickets for the Ho-Ho service on board, at 22 euros per person. The bus stop was only a short walk from the terminal. There was a short tour of Piraeus, then we were taken to Athens. It had been explained to us that we would go to the interchange, and then board another bus for the loop around Athens. However, we were all told to get off the bus at a different stop. A represenative from City Sightseeing then took us to the enterence to the Acropolis, and pointed then pointed in the direction of the interchange. This caused quite a lot of confusion, as a lot of the passengers were elderly, and also they didn't expect such a long walk.
Fortunately, we had a map and Google Maps, so it wasn't too difficult to find the interchange.
We boarded the Athens loop bus, and enjoyed our tour with the commentary. There is a lot of traffic in Athens so it is slow going at times.
We didn't get off the bus, but it would have been a good way of visiting a couple of sites. When we got back to the interchange for the bus back to Piraeus, it was very busy, and there was a long queue of people waiting to go back to the ships. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a bus.
It was a bit chaotic, but we enjoyed it anyway.

We arrived in Athens on a Princess cruise ship and hopped on the tour bus just outside the terminal - very convenient. They have two lines - only one goes to the cruise terminal to pick up and drop off passengers. You catch the other line at the Acropolis stop. Best to purchase your tickets to the Acropolis online so you do not have to wait in line as it is very busy and the lines fairly long. The buses were clean and were available for boarding about every 15 minutes at each of the stops. We spent most of the time at the Acropolis and Plaka shopping area. Not all that impressed with Athens - just a big sprawling city.

I purchased tickets through viator, but it says on the voucher that you have to go to an entry point to redeem your voucher for the ticket. The entry points are in Athens half way around the loop. How do you get on the bus at the cruise terminal with these vouchers?

I am sorry. We bought ours through the hotel and they had a shuttle that took us to one of the stops. I am sorry I don't know the answer to your question. They made us buy the 2 day ticket even though we only had 1 day left. But there are tons of hop on hop pff places. Plan a long hot day. You migh tbe able to catch a shuttle there (?) if not, a cab can take you to the closest one.
I hope this helped a little...

You have to buy a ticket for the Piraeus line and the city line. The bus stops outside the dock and take you to bus station close to the Acropolis. Wait for the Athens line at the same stop. The company we used had guides at the main stop to help.

.
Buon divertimento
