Great Chef + Good Food = Great Experience!
We had an AMAZING time at this cooking class! Highly recommend for a dinner in Athens! Chef was fun and serious at the same time. He truly wanted each persons food to be a delicious master piece. We loved that he incorporated personal stories and aspects from his life into the class and food. Again, I would HIGHLY recomend this class!

      Perfect
Wonderful tour. I would highly recommend having a guide and Laura was the perfect person to lead our small group. We also visited in early Jan which was perfect as it was not too busy or hot. Laura was very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions any of us had

      Athens Acropolis and Museum
This tour, Acropolis and Acropolis’s museum, was very informative, easy walking, luckily we also had good weather. This tour is a must while visiting Athens and having a knowledgeable guide makes this experience even more memorable. Lydia our guide is an encyclopedia of history, she’s also a part time photographer 😉. Thank you for the wonderful time !

      Knowledgable, engaging, recommended.
Amazing tour. Our guide, John was extremely well informed and a goldmine of information which he delivered in an engaging way. Our group ranged from 11 to 78 years old and everyone had a great time. Even this Ancient Greece nerd was impressed. Thoroughly recommended.

      Must do activity in Athens!
Our guide Lydia was very informative and also treated everyone in the group with such kindness. The walk up to the acropolis was a very easy pace which would suit any abilities. The Parthenon was breathtaking and the view of Athens was spectacular! Highly recommend this tour and activity. If you can’t afford a tour, 10 Euro for entry it’s totally worth it! Must do…

John the archaeologist rocks the Acropolis!
John, the archaeologist, was great fun and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend it. The climb up the acropolis was made easy by frequent stops on the way up to catch your breath. A plethora of interesting facts and stories were combined masterfully to create a very enjoyable day.

      Excellent tour
The guide was extremely knowledgable, there were plenty of stops and the tour was just long enough (we have two children aged 11 and 8. With our two youngsters I was happy to not add on the museum tour, this would’ve been too long for them). The tour finished at the Acropolis so we were left to explore more at our own pace, so you could make it longer than the 1hr30 specified.

      Be ready to be amazed
This place has one of the world’s oldest and well known architectural structures so it is a must see. I was in awe of the history and the buildings and seeing them in person made it even more interesting. The only issue I have with this location and (sadly) most tourist sites are the crowd. We traveled during the peak of tourist season so we were prepared for some crowd, it was just hard to see and enjoy the sights when every where you turn, there is someone else trying to get to what you are looking at. And because there is such a large crowd, the guides are hurried and hard to spend quality time. Overall, still worth the time and money to visit.

It so amazing to stand on a ground with so much history. First I took the tour guide bus from Athen centrum that brought us to the Acropolis. I walked up to see the legendary building with so much history.

A Fantastic Tour of the Acropolis & Parthenon
Athens Walks walking tour of the Acropolis & Parthenon came recommended to us by friends who highly recommended it. Booking online was easy and on the day of the tour it was easy to find the office where we paid and met our tour guide Anna Kotorou. The tour was very well paced and Anna, guide, was AMAZING!!! She was very friendly and engaging, at times funny ( we loved her humour) and encouraged questions throughout the tour. What was most impressive was Anna's knowledge of the area. She would stop and tell us about each part of the Acropolis and Parthenon. Anna had visuals of what it would have looked like when it was built and this was most interesting and helpful for us to gain a further understanding. Anna also provided plenty of opportunities for us to take photos and would even kindly offer take photos of us and the other tourists when requested. Athens Walks was a perfect way to see this incredible piece of history. Thanks again Anna for a wonderful tour!

      Average tour
The guide was very nice and told us a great deal about the Acropolis and Parthenon. It was a big group and I did appreciated the whisperers. However, the information shared was really only average. Nothing made me say wow. It was not an archeologist leading the group. I rated it average because it was an average tour.

Panos our guide was excellent having a great knowledge and passion for local food and drink. We enjoyed the small group of ranging nationalities and age range.
A good variety of local food and drink establishments were visited during our 4 hour tour which represented good value for money with introduction to a diverse Greek cuisine.
Highly recommend this tour and suggest booking it at the start of your vacation as the navigation around the city was also very helpful. Yamas!!

Ειρήνη (Irene), the tour guide made the experience very enjoyable. We (my 13-year old daughter and I) booked the tour only after a little fatherly arm-twisting. However, when asked later about what she had enjoyed most in Athens, my daughter straight away said this tour had been her favorite part. It was for me too - funny, delicious and educational. Who could ask for more? You get to know a lot about a culture by experiencing their cuisine and drinking culture, and I felt that this tour rounded out our experiences, providing context and a kind of mental mortar that sort of brought everything together that we'd learn and heard visiting the other famous sites in the capital and country. I recommend it for everyone, even those with teens (and especially if you can be sure to book with Irene, who made such an effort and was so successful at including my daughter in the conversation and overall experience). Thank you for a wonderful time! Your friends from Abu Dhabi. :)

Such an amazing way to experience all the delicious food and drink Athens has to offer! The tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and made the day so enjoyable. I left with a great appreciation for traditional Greek food, drink and culture.

I recommend going at the start of your trip so you can experience everything for the first time with the guide, learn the history behind each thing and get some tips on great places to visit for the rest of your stay.

Below par food for a food tour and certainly not worth the money.
The good point: Very friendly and knowledgeable guide who was very eager to share Greeks’ everyday life. The route meanders through from Monastiraki and loops through the streets and markets (which we loved but would have done it anyway).
Negative points. The food variety, quality and the location themselves fell below expectations . We did few food tours in other countries and this one is at the bottom of the list. When doing a food tour, you expect to be taken to quirky places that you wouldn’t be able to find as non local and try dishes you wouldn’t necessarily think of trying. We had only basic knowledge of the food but actually knew most of the dishes we were introduced to and the guide input wasn’t enough to make it up for the price you pay.
The first place we stopped at, was on the side of the street on a narrow pavement between cars and delivery bikes to get an idea of the bread Greeks grab on the go. Not the nicest place to nibble your bread and We felt like we were being filled up with carbs. Second stop buns, nice enough but filling once again. Third stop. Greek Coffee. Making process was interesting but we would have tried it on our own. Then mezze stop where you try different small dishes that we all knew and I was surprised we didn’t get the dolmades (stuffed vine leaves that would probably have been more original than the ones we had). It was sadly probably the best part because it is more of this food experience you would be looking for but the only one in the selection. There was a stop where we tried in a fairly nice setting some of the subtleties of high quality olive oil and vinegar which gave a bit of an edge but we were still hungry (if you don’t fill yourself up with the different bread stops). Then the last stop was a gyros/kebab place. The plat de résistance! Super filling sandwich with pita bread (again) with meat that we already knew and that we would have probably grab ourselves in that super busy street. It was heavy, too salty and we definitely had better before. We do get nuggets of information but they don’t make it for the choice and the price you pay. we understand it is to give you a basic overview of what Greeks might take (mostly on the go) but we were disappointed because it is such a rich and diverse cuisine that wasn’t shown on the tour. I wouldn’t recommend it for foodies. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad, but really quite expensive for what you get at the end of the day and that you would definitely easily get on your own on a trip on Greece. 65 euros a head, (for young children too!) just doesn’t cut it.

Dear Lewis, Thank you for taking time to write down a detailed review despite is negative. I really hoped we would meet your expectations and sorry we did not. However we would like to spot some misleading information and remarks on this review. 1. You mentioned many times that entire tour could be done on your own. I strongly believe you would not. At least the 7/10 of the places we visit they know non Greek costumers simply because we take them there in our food tour. 2. You mention you knew most of the dishes. This means you love local cuisine. Someone that knows already the dishes and places should book this tour cause they will see an authentic and local introduction of them in an original setting. 3. You mention about lots of bread dishes, I might not understand that correct but the only time you have actually bread is the tavern. Greek cuisine is a variety of doughs. The only bready is the tapas style souvlaki you enjoyed at Monastiraki square. The fully crispy Greek donuts or the phyllo pastry spinach pie it is consider as doughs and for someone that believes it knows the local cuisine understand that cant be a Greek food tour without these items. 4. Price, you make 7 food stops and you enjoy 11 different items. The majority if not entire of our guests they just mention of how much food this tour consists. All in all we should also mentioned that you booked this tour with 16 other participants, you were all together when our actually maximum size is 8-10 people. You might needed more personal or private tour but for a large group like yours the tour leader should keep everyone happy. I hope you will give us an other chance an other time and book a tour in a smaller group to make tailor made to your needs. Our Gourmet Athens food tour has been rated from our guests as one of the top things to do in South Europe and I believe they know what they are talking about. Yours Sincerely, Kostas

Anabella was an amazing guide. She took us to many amazing places to try a wide variety of foods and was knowledgeable about the food, the restaurant and the food origin and history. Along the way she pointed out interesting sights, artwork, history and facts about local life in Athens. I would recommend doing this tour as early as possible during your trip to Athens so you can go back to places you visited during he tour and follow up on Anabella’s many additional recommendations.

We arrived in Athens after a 14 hour flight, with our last meal being lunch from the day before and this was the perfect tour to kick our Greek adventure off with. Dimitra, our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and had spent time curating an itinerary that took us away from the hordes of tourists, to truly local spots. Discovering a city through its food is fresh way of discovering the culture and I highly recommend this tour and Dimitra for anyone who wants to see and taste a different side of Athens.

Our Private Gourmet Walking Food Tour was well worth the cost, but the highlight of the tour was the remarkable guide, Anna. It was clear that along our food route she knew everyone and her knowledge of the Monsatariki and Plaka neighborhoods was a plus to the food we tasted. We started with doughnut and ended with a lovely bit of vinegar, olive oil and wine tasting at an elegant sit-down experience. Everything we tasted was delicious and Anna was an absolute, high energy delight.

Anabelia was an amazing guide. She made our small group of strangers feel comfortable with each other right from the start. My husband and I arrived into Athens two hours prior to the start of the tour and were ready for lunch. By the end of the tour, we were still full and didn’t need to eat dinner. Every dish we tried was delicious. My husband and I revisited a couple of restaurants Ana introduced us to before leaving Athens. This was a wonderful introduction into Greek food and culture.

All of our first time in Athens Greece, pre- Easter celebrations. We are a group of 8, made up of family and a friend- all different personalities and each with a desire to see a different shade of the blues Greece has to offer. We all agree that this walking tour is a perfect way to feed the senses and get a panoramic glimpse of the extraordinary gastronomy, authenticity and modern flair that characterizes this epic land. Our host, Panos was just as legendary as his homeland. He did his country right! He is a great host- intelligent, patient, a great communicator, quick witted and fun!

Our authentic day trip included To Koyaoypi, Mnovyatoudiko, a Byzantine Church, the hardware district, Kpivos, the fish and meat market, the herb and cheese and olive stalls all including samples as part of the tour. Most amazing was the old taverna where we had a kaleidoscope of tapas rich in Greek tradition like sardines, eggplant, feta cheese, meats and zucchini balls with Kaziki. We were then delighted to indulge in an especially unique olive and vinegar tasting at a boutique hotel called The Artist. Our tour ended with a wonderful dinner at a traditional yet modern gyro restaurant. During it all, Panos was gracious with our wandering eyes and effortless at reigning us in all the while bringing our attention back to yet another gleaming Greek gem or delightful detail.

We did a private walking tour with Panos. Both the tour and the guide, Panos, were terrific. Went to all the major areas of the city, including the Central Market, and experienced/tasted everything fro treat food, to high end cuisines and wine. Panos was very good at explaining the neighborhoods that we visited as well as all of the food we tasted. This tour (and Panos) are highly recommended.
