Highlights
  • Save time by combining two top Athens and Cape Sounion tours in a day
  • Great for history buffs—see the Acropolis Museum, and the Parthenon
  • Travel with ease between dispersed sites in an air-conditioned coach
  • Access incredible photo opportunities, such as the Temple of Poseidon
What to expect
  • Morning Athens Sightseeing Tour:
Begin your morning Athens sightseeing tour with a pickup from your Athens hotel, or alternatively, at a meeting point in central Athens. Relax into your air-conditioned coach and drive to the Acropolis, the ancient citadel of Athens perched high above the city on a rocky outcrop. Head through the gates with your guide, and stroll around the top Acropolis attractions, including the Temple of Athena Nike, Propylea, Erechtheion, and the spectacular Parthenon.
Having explored these classical masterpieces, continue to the Panathenaic Stadium, the arena that hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. Snap photos of the all-marble stadium and then drive to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Greek Parliament House in Syntagma Square. Admire the handsome government buildings around the square, and then head along Panepistimiou Street, one of Athens’ main avenues. See St. Dionysius Cathedral with its arcaded portico, and pass the elegant buildings of the University of Athens, National Library, and Academy of Athens. Lastly, pay a visit to the New Acropolis Museum, the ultra-modern museum that houses many of the classical statues, friezes, and artifacts recovered from the Acropolis. After viewing the highlights here, conclude your sightseeing tour, and enjoy free time to relax or have lunch (own expense) at a local taverna before your afternoon tour.
Afternoon Cape Sounion Trip:
Reconvene with your coach and leave Athens behind as you journey south to Cape Sounion. As you travel, admire the beautiful beaches of the Saronic Gulf and hear tales of the Cape and its showpiece: the glimmering white Temple of Poseidon. On arrival, leave your coach and walk up to the temple, built high on cliffs overlooking the Aegean Sea. Take in the awesome sea views and if it’s clear weather, gaze out over the island of Kea in the distance.
Admire the Doric columns of the ancient temple and hear about the Greek myths that surround the building. Then, see the inscription made on one of the columns by the English poet Lord Byron in the early 1800s.

Afterward, travel back to Athens where your tour ends at your hotel or the original start point.

Great experience!
Aug 2021
I love Greek history and traveled solo to Greece. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and we saw most of Athens. Seeing most of the ancient history of Athens and the Acropolis Museum was absolutely incredible and a great introduction to Ancient Greek history. We passed by a few temples I would've liked to spend time in (the Temple of Zeus for example) that I went to during my free time at lunch. I think as an introduction it's an amazing trip but you definitely need a bit more time to really dive into Athens if you're a history buff!

Thank you!

Athens sights in one day.
Jan 2020 • Couples
Two part your, first half day at Acropolis and Acropolis museum and city drive past etc. Tour guide Dora was just magnificent, fountain of knowledge delivered in an engaging manner, could never have done this ourselves. Second half day was your to Cape Sounion, this basically 3 hours driving in round trip and 1 hour at ruins. Good to have drive along coast, but unless you really are into archeological sights, not really worth the time. Different guide did your in English and French, so if you lost concentration, sometimes did not realised she had changed back to english.

Great tour guide, met nice people
The Athens City sightseeing trip was great. Our tour guide was a young lady named Ephi (or Effi) and she was very hospitable, social, and put a lot of effort into our experience with the Athens tour. She holds a degree in archaeology and is very knowledgeable with Greek history and culture.

The Cape Sounion tour was also great and it was very memorable sight to see. I will be looking forward to come back to this site on my next visit to Greece.

Tour Guide Amazing -Saw so much!
Visalis made the whole tour very very enjoyable. He is extremely knowledgeable about the sites and also the history surrounding the sites. He included maps and iPad images.

From the very beginning, Visalis was attentive to our questions and needs. Very kind.

This was our only full day in Athens and we saw so much - most of the top sites. He was flexible when we wanted to add the Acropolis Museum. Don’t miss this stop - extremely well done. The actual excavation happening on site underground a large glass floor was super cool.

The Mercedes Van was spotless and loaded with cool water.

My husband left his phone in the car and this company and our driver were quick to fix; going as far as to personally deliver his phone to our hotel.

Visalis is a native Greek and shared so much information about his country. Again, very knowledgeable and kind! Can’t say enough great things about this tour, but especially our incredible guide, Visalis!

It’s okay!!
We chose hotel pick up so the meeting time is 7:30am but the driver arrived 7:45am then we went to hotel Amalia to pick up other tourists and wait till 8:30am. The first stop is in the city of Athens, the tour guide is good. She explained well the history but not that lively. Anyway we went to acropolis Parthenon and museum. We finished at 1pm and they drop everybody in their respective hotel and the second part of tour is at 2:30pm. We didn’t go in the second part. We just get tired and still adjusting on time zone.

Hello from Chat Tours, Thank you for your review. We are sorry for this short delay but it is regural sometimes to face traffic on the way of the pick up . We note at all vouchers that meeting point is Amalia Hotel and departure time is 08:30 am . Pick up service starts one hour prior to the departure . So , there was not any delay on the departure. We hope to see you again in Athens . Always at your disposal, Angelina Skyla.

It was super crowded at Acropolis. You just get to see only other's backside in front of you when you walked up. The staircase is very slippery and overcrowded so it could be very dangerous. I think it needs to have traffic control to avoid accident.

Hello from Chat Tours, Thank you for your review. We take your opinion into consideration but we would like to note that all the open archaeological sites all around the world are in the same condition because of their age. Good shoes and slow pace walking is the best recipe for an excellent day in these sites. We are looking forward to seeing you again in Athens . Always at your disposal, Angelina Skyla.

Not the value expected for that kind of money
It's two unrelated tours with different guides. The morning walking tour was a little over two hours. Most of the info the tour guide gave was very general. Didn't know the answers to many of the basic questions we asked. The acropolis was meant to be the highlight of the morning but when we got up there we got 5 minutes of intro and sent on our way to roam the place (on our own) and return to the meeting point, 30 minutes walking distance (on our own).
The afternoon trip was a 90 minutes ride in a full bus with poor air conditioning with a guide I had difficulty understanding, and an extremely short intro at the temple, followed by some self guided roaming.
Spoke to some other participants, we were all disappointed.

Hello from Chat Tours, We would like to clarify some points. The two tours of course are not considered to be unrelated . The history of our city are connected with the triangle of Temples that you are visiting : Temple of Parthenon , Temple of Olympian Zeus and Temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounion. The tours are fully guided by selected professional licensed English and French speaking guides. We always spend at least one hour fully guided tour at the Acropolis and afterwards we give some free time for our groups in the site. Last but not least , as mentioned at your prepaid vouchers group size could be from 10 to 50 people. When we are talking about the pick season , all the tours are sold out. You could understand that you had not paid for a private tour but for an organised group tour. For this reason, a tour guide could not answer to so many questions of everybody because in this way you will lose all the guided time We hope that we clarified the case. Always at your disposal, Angelina Skyla.
