We started on a bus with a group of people doing just the one day Delphi tour. After touring the Delphi area, which was very interesting, we joined a group who was on a four day tour to go on to Meteora. Both sites were amazingly beautiful and interesting— well worth the long travel time. It was disappointing to have a bus that was not quite as nice and roomy on this two day trip compared to the bus we had on our one day trip to Mycenae and Epidaurus earlier in the week. The provided meals were just ok—nothing special. We chose to not eat at the lunch spots that we stopped at (which were not included in the price). They were large, heavy lunches, and we preferred to get a walk in and have a quick bite at a cafe. Helen, Joy, and George the driver were all wonderful and helped make the trip a highlight of our vacation. We would recommend this tour!

1. I am glad I went. Delphi was interesting, Meteora was spectacular, stunning.
2. The guides worked hard to do their job.The driver was provided a safe ride
3. The bus was very uncomfortable, too small, crammed, no space for day packs except at your feet and inadequate leg room. Awful for so many hours on the bus!!!
4. The Amelia Hotel was nice, the rooms comfortable.
5. The vegetarian dinner was NOT good. It was a plate full of boiled cauliflower, broccoli and plain rice. No protein. No seasoning. I was sorry that I prepaid for dinner!

We enjoyed our trip to Delphi and Meteora. Our guides and drivers were excellent and professional. Lot's of interesting information and places to visit. One but important disadvantage of this trip was accomodation for the night: we were dropped at 18:00 at Amalia hotel which was located in the middle of nowhere. The hotel needs renovation badly but according to taxes they charged us in the morning (3 euro) it considered to be 5 stars. Nobody explained to us what we could do during our free time. We tried to walk to the village but it was 6 km from hotel without side walk and no transportation so we gave up. Dinner was at 8 pm and was good but did not compensate our wasted evening. We talked to other tourists in our bus next morning who bought that trip from another company not CHAT tours. They were placed in the hotels in the village and enjoyed their evening walking and shopping around. Our advice: don't buy this tour from CHAT tours because they don't care about clients. They care to fill an empty hotel and save their money probably. We think this way because it was absolutely unreasonable to place us so far from everything - location is very important for tourists and we were very unhappy during that evening and we believe we were not alone with those feelings.

I started out with a group of 1-day Delphi trip. After visiting Delphi, the company arranged me to join another group of people who were on their 5-day trip package. Meteora is magnificent. Additionally, I met a few friendly and interesting people during the tour and we went on later to visit acropolis together. Very worthwhile!

We did the overnight to Dephi and the monasteries (Meteora). What they DON'T tell u is that u spend a lot of time (12 hours+) on a bus over 2 days. Our guide for Delphi was so terrible we walked on(could not understand her n she kept rambling on & on) to see it on our own n therefor got to see all of it while the people who stuck with her did not. The monasteries were wonderful but u r on a bus for endless hours. I would recommend for a little more $ use Georges Taxi with private driver Kostas. You will cut hours off the drive and it will be well worth the extra $ to be flexible in what u do.

We wanted to see Delphi and Meteora and this seemed a good way of doing both. We booked through Viator which is a subsidiary of Tripadvisor. Chat Tour provided the tour.
We met the bus as arranged at a hotel near the centre of Athens. The bus was 3/4 full, clean and modern.
Just know on this trip you are sitting for a long time. Rest stops were provided regularly and our guide kept us advised of our timetable frequently.
First stop was Delphi, Our guide took us around for about 30 mins and gave us a quick overview of the site and then we were on our own for 45 mins. Impossible to do both the site and the museum on this trip which was a real shame.
After Delphi we stopped at Thermopylae very briefly to see the place the Spartan held off against the Persians then onto Kalambaka to overnight. Hotel was old but comfortable, bar VERY smoky! The tour provided a buffet dinner and breakfast which were both abundant, fresh, local and very good quality.
First day lunch stop outside of Delphi was lovely, economical and local. Second lunch stop outside of Meteora was horrible, over priced buffet with food just being shoved at you and no idea what you were being charged for. Be warned we ended up spending >50€
Back on the bus to Meteora. A rainy day but the area was spectacular. Never seen anything like it and so glad we visited!
Then back to Athens, 5 hours away.
A few comments/suggestions to the tour company. Try and include time to go to the museum in the Delphi stop.
Please let your female guests know that they are required to wear skirts at Meteora, apron style skirts were provided at the monasteries but a bit grubby.
I know the tour guide can’t keep talking for hours on end but maybe a pretaped narrative about the area, myths, history could be played, if you don’t want to listen put your ear buds in.
Our tour guide was nice but didn’t make any attempt to get to know her passengers and I think could have done a better job at “hosting” the group. Also she was very programmed and her explanations very quick at the sites.
She occupied one of the very coveted front seats when she could have sat in of the two seats by the driver and door, letting other guests have a great view.
Yes I would recommend this tour, you get what you pay for of course. Let’s see if Chat tours take any advice.

While I've had a good experience with chat tours in the past this one left much to be desired. The attractions are world class and worth a visit, Meteora in particular is stunning. However, the tour suffered from many problems.

After being picked up we were driven around athens for over an hour picking up groups going on other tours. At the end of this hour we reached a point literally 10 minutes walk from where we were picked up.

After finally leaving Athens 90 minutes after being picked up (again, 10 minutes walk from our pickup point) we arrived at Delphi for our '90 minute guided tour' only to be told we would have less than an hour and that only the first 20 minutes would be guided.

After being rushed through Delphi we were merged with another group and herded into a new bus. The new bus was completely inadequate, every seat was occupied and leg room was non-existent. Most of us were squished up against a stranger with our knees against our chest. I've been on buses throughout the Balkans but never have I had as little leg space or personal space as this. It was the most uncomfortable trip of my life. To make matters worse the aircon could not be manually controlled and was stifling in such a full bus.

I should also note that every lunch stop was made at a pricey tourist trap, it was dissapointing to walk into town and see dozens of charming local cafes empty while our group was funnelled into out of the way overpriced buffets.

Finally, after a night in an adequate hotel we experienced two monasteries before being crammed back into the sardine can for the long trip home. Meteora was stunning but this tour is not the way to enjoy it. The guide was very long winded and I feel like we could have seen more with concise, interesting commentary.

My reccomendation is to save 50% and book everything yourself. A bus to delphi and meteora, accomodation, entrance fees and monastery tour costs far less than the package tour and would have been much more comfortable with hours of extra sightseeing time and more enjoyable food. Avoid at all costs.

The sites of Meteora and Delphi are amazing. The tour is a bit like a cattle drive though. That probably can’t be helped, but still! We had two guides changing in Delphi. The first was quite pleasant but her knowledge was dodgy. The second was not much chop at all. Her knowledge was better but she talked way too much, repeating the same information three or four times. This left very little time to look around these marvellous attractions. The guide even got a bit aggressive because we weren’t asking her questions (everyone just wanted her to stop talking). The hotel at Kalambaka was OK. The evening meal was poor, average food raced through. The breakfast was better and the rooms average, though spacious and comfortable. I would recommend the tour for the attractions though and don’t see how else to go unless travelling independently.

We chose this tour because it combines visits to Delphi and Meteora from Athens in 2 days. We first looked into taking the train from Athens to Kalambaka to visit Meteora only. But when we found that this tour package was available, it seemed to be a more comfortable way to visit Meteora with the added benefit of a visit to Delphi.

Our first guide, a gentleman, enthusiastically explained the Greek history and legends on our way to Delphi. At the Delphi site, he spent a little too much time on explaining the background of the place rather than the site itself. Nevertheless, his explanations were quite entertaining.

After an one-hour visit to Delphi, we had a new guide along with a group of additional guests. It seems that they were on a longer tour. The new guide, a lady, was a bit more terse, but still informative. After a brief stop at Thermopylae, we headed to our hotel near Kalambaka for a overnight stay. The hotel is rather far from the town center, and there were nothing around it. The hotel facilities were OK, but it would have been nicer if we stayed in town.

On the second day, we left early to visit the monasteries of Meteora. Because Megalo Meteoro Monastery was closed on that day, we visited Varlaam instead. She explained the structure of Greek orthodox churches and the meanings of Byzantine religious paintings. Her explanations were quite informative. Our second visit was a nunnery which was also very good. As we moved from one monastery to another, there were several view points where people were taking pictures of the rocks and monasteries. We made only one stop, which was not enough for me. I wish we had more opportunities to take pictures of the impressive scenery. After lunch at a nearby restaurant, we headed back to Athens. It took longer than planned due to heavy traffic. Once in Athens, the bus made stops at several hotels to drop people off.

If you want to spend as much time in Meteora as possible, taking a train to Kalambaka and hiring a taxi might be a better answer. But for most people, this would be a good compromise package.

We had really good tour guides that provided more cultural/historical info than expected. Both Delphi and Meteora sites are amazing, highly recommended. Even the stop at Thermopylae was nice. However, this was a large bus tour with 30-40 people, difficult for one guide to keep organized. And so the visits to each site felt very rushed. In Meteora, we visited 2 monasteries that were great, but we did not really get to see the enough of the specific monasteries that we wanted; i.e. the one featured in "For your eyes only". Additionally, the restaurants and shops we visited were geared toward large crowds. So again we felt rushed and the food was much less than acceptable, likened to a Greek cafeteria. We did opt to stay in the nicest hotel in Meteora and we're lucky we did, bc it was still 3-star at best, and the restaurant food/wine there was also not great. While not having to rent a car and drive was nice, in hindsight we should have. We would've spent the same amount or less on a car and private tour guide at each site, and then would've been able to make better food/shop choices and spend more time where we wanted.
