About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- T532MLantonior0 contributions100% amazingWe are fans of Vinho Verde but had no idea what to expect...wowww! The Alvarinho region is in the north of Portugal in Monção Melgaço subregion. We headed to the most famous producer of Alvarinho in Portugal and had a tasting with the owner/winemaker himself...a treat! Amazing wines and good conversation. Lunch was the highlight, with typical minhota food, hearty meal with soul. Maria was a great guide...she is so passionate about food and wine, she is a great travel companion. I will definetly recommend.Written October 31, 2019
- T532MLantonior0 contributionsFantastic!!!We now know why the Douro valley is so unique and a world heritage site. Maria knows her wine...she can talk about anything about Portugal's wine scene. We visited 2 wine producers, one of Port and one of Pôrt and table wines...both amazing! We didn't want to leave. In between we have a great lunch with typical and hearty food at an old train station. It is my third tour with Maria and it is always unique experience.Written October 31, 2019
- T532MLantonior0 contributionsSimply amazingDão tour Dão wine region was a total mistery to us. Maria is very passionate about this region, as it was there that she began her wine passion. The tour was incredible...we began with a traditional small producer, very boutique that made the most amazing wines...a family owned project that is well worth the visit. After a wine tasting we headed to lunch at Maria's favourite restaurant in the region, where she ate several times. The meal was COLOSSAL...great local food, and great wines. Be adventurous and you will never see food the sane way. After the meal, we headed for the second producer, modern take on the Dão and I was blown away by the massive building. A tasting of wines was included. The Dao region is stunning, endless fields of vines. A joy... highly recommend this tour.Written October 31, 2019
- T532MLantonior0 contributionsAwsomeBairrada tour What a delight. Maria picked us up and led us to the sparkling wine region in Portugal, just an hour from Porto. We had a great tour at the top producer Luis Pato, with a tasting of 10 wines led by the man himself. For lunch we ate the famous suckling pig, with extra crispy skin and unique sauce. We had no idea this dish existed. Lucky for us Maria took us to a restaurant with only local people. What a treat. On the way back we stopped at Costa Nova to see the stripped houses. A great day and highly recommend Maria. She is passionate about food and knows her wines.Written October 31, 2019

- Ninamari560 contributionsRefreshingThis was an interesting, refreshing and spectacular tour with chef and wine expert Maria. We visited famous wine maker Luis Pato, whom we had the honor to meet at the winery. Famous for his vine growing and wine making techniques which have gain him the nickname of "el loco". His daughter was our guide in the winery and we tasted 11 delicious wines. After that we had lunch at Mugaza famous for their cochinillo. We had a feast. Maria's knowledge of food and wine is superb, making us want to return to Porto.Written October 25, 2019

Maria was more than just a guide to the food and wine of Portugal, she was a charming host who engaged with us in the history, art and architecture of Porto. And of course we ate the most delicious food and learned about the wines and ports of the Douro Valley. A wonderful experience.
