this did help us get our bearings on our first day but for what we paid (36 euros) we certainly should have been able to hear the audio. I can't comment on the content of the audio because I couldn't hear it. Also, drivers were not especially helpful or friendly. When we first boarded in the early am, we walked right by the earbuds without seeing them. Had to come back down from the upper deck of the bus to get them, helped only by another passenger. this is not worth the price.

Having discussed options at the official Tourist Information Office we chose to buy this tour with a visit to one of the port lodges and the 50 minute boat ride. First impression of the hop on hop off bus trip was of being stuck in a lot of traffic and spending a lot of time going around in a loop only to come back to our starting point. From there we rode almost the full circuit but didn't find anywhere that we wanted to hop off. The commentary was not very well synched to the route so we were often puzzled about where to look for the buildings being described. There were two bizarre bits of the tape where the reader made mistakes and had another go but the mistakes were not edited out. Quite funny really!
That being said, we did use the bus to our advantage to return to the metro station both days and to return to the city from the end of the vintage tram line so we felt that we got reasonable value for money taking into account the boat trip and the tour and tasting at the port house.

The actual bus service was good, we paid for both routes but ended up only doiing one as the lines for the second route were very long where we tried to change. We got off the bus just past the pedestrian area of the city and walked around the square and up the streets to have a look around the city. We had to get back on the same bus route and go back down to the river to catch our bus back to the ship. I still recommend you catch the hop on hop off bus as it does get you around the city even if it does go back on itself a bit. The stop at the winery where you could sample port was popular. You can see the city had some beautiful old building facades with tiles on them that you could tell had once been something special and typical of Portugal. You can tell the city has had some hard times with so many buildings in need of repair. Still a good place to visit on your European trip.

Dear Joan T, Thank you for your comment. Regarding the time between buses, we apologize for the waiting and we are sorry that you didn't use the second route. In fact, our type of service depends on factors we cannot control: traffic, weather and accidents, and that's why we can only compromise with "approx." schedules. If you have any further comment you'd like to share with us, please send us an email to customercare@cityrama.pt. Kind regards,

Porto is amazing but don’t bother with the Hop on hop off tours, especially the Blue Bus tour, the most boring tour we’ve ever been on and a total rip off. Do not do this tour, a total waste of precious time and money. You can see most of Porto’s attractions easily and enjoyably on foot. Tip: Take the water taxi only €3 over to see the port cellars.

We were only in Porto for a few days so my friend talked me into taking this bus tour with audio. Long story short...the audio didn't work at all. Most of the time it was just music and the audio was not coordinated with the sites we were seeing. To make matters worse I was sitting in the front of the bus downstairs and the driver had the radio blasting so we couldn't hear the audio. I asked him if he could turn it down and he replied "Doesn't matter, Nobody cares". He then was on the phone almost the whole trip talking loudly and was very animated.
The ticket was good for 2 days so I took the blue line to the other side the next day only because I was totally exhausted from walking. There is nothing to see over there except they take you to 3 wine caves. On the way back after visiting one cave we (other passengers as well) were expecting to be dropped off where we got on as we were told the bus route makes a loop. One stop from our drop-off the driver starts driving in circles. We asked him when he was going to our stop and he replied in 1-hour! We all decided to just walk 15 minutes to our stop. Something is terribly wrong with management of this company in Porto. My advice would be to avoid at all costs. I have video of the radio and the driver on the phone but I don't think I can upload here.

We bought the tickets from our hotel, for 48 hour tour, boat trip & port tasting was 25 euros each.

Hop on Hop off tour, great way to see the city and get out to the beaches as well ( which we did on both days).

I see people saying about traffic, but you are on a bus in a busy city, so what do you expect? its hop on hop off so you can get off and walk! Audio guide in several different languages that give you and commentary on what you are going past.

The boat tour was really nice too, great way to see a different side of the city, although no audio guide on that part which was the only thing that was lacking, as we could have been told some more info about the river/bridges.

The tour guide around the Burneister Port cellar was lovely. Included 2 glasses of port to taste at the end, and interesting way to learn about different ports.

Overall a great way to see the city if you are there for a short time as we were, and you can use it to look at things where you may want to get off and explore further. If you are stuck in traffic just enjoy the views and the sunshine.

We chose this bus as it was the first one we saw. It was excellent value - we chose the one day ticket - 28E which included a river cruise and a port wine tasting at Burmeister.

The bus went around the main sites within the town and the driver was very helpful instructing where to get off for the boat trip and port tasting.

I have experienced better audio tours. It covered the main sites but was not timed well and as others of have said there was too much music. The quality of the audio tour on both the bus and the boat was fine for us.

If you are short of time in Porto, I would definitely consider the "blue bus".

We had a Porto city tour on the bus and it was a fun and interesting trip! Probably one of the best ways to see the city with a short amount of time available! Will recommend!
