This is a great tour group. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the city, history, the architecture, and also took our interests into account. I encourage you to take this tour at the start of your visit if you can. You will learn a lot about the city in just a few hours and will help you enjoy the special features of Porto while you are there. I also encourge you to take the private tour. it is not that much more expensive than a larger group tour but makes the tour much more enjoyable.

Orlando was full of information on Porto’s history, as well as many unusual details and tidbits about the culture and the city. We highly recommend using the tours given by locals—it’s a great thing to do when you first arrive in a city to give you the best introduction and “lay of the land.” It would’ve taken us three days to do what these guides can do in three hours.

Pedro is a first class guide, who very effectively communicated the many subtleties of the Portuguese culture relating to dining and viticulture in the Douro Valley. He also pointed out many sites along the roundtrip. A few brief stops at miradouro turnoffs would have been nice, time permitting. The two wineries were different, representatives provided excellent commentary and the tastings generous.

Guests need to plan for the power consumption of any electronic devices for recording their experience in photos as there were no USB ports aboard the comfortable van…, so a portable power block may be key.

The boat excursion and lunch were very well done . One improvement could have been a brief explanation by a restaurant official as to the traditional elements of Portuguese cooking we were to experience. The food and service were great. But the spacing of diners was tight and the sound of chairs across the floor made conversation challenging.

All in all, a very good day and one I highly recommend with Pedro. I would repeat this trip in the future.

This tour of Porto was excellent. We all learned a lot about the history of Porto, and more importantly, saw parts of the city we would never have found on our own. Our guide Victor was both knowledgeable and personable. He knew all the spots. I would recommend that you take this tour when you first arrive in Porto so you can familiarize yourself with the city. The price was very reasonable and well worth it.

First of all, André was very accommodating of my last minute change of meeting date due to my own carelessness. We spent more than 3 hrs wandering the city with him painting a wide brushstroke of the millennia of history of the city, and pointing out minute architecture and archeological details of the remnants of history. It’s a hilly town and we went up and down but he designed a route that make me felt it was minimum climbing. It is a great general intro of the city for the first day so I could make a mental note where to go back to. And once he pointed out the St Catherine’s wheel on the stone lintels of Rua das Flores I can’t un-see them every time I walk by…. Why are they not on Rua de Santa Catalina instead, you ask? Well, you just have to ask André yourself… ☺️

Walking the city with Tiago was more like being with a local friend in “the know” than a tour guide. You can tell he has a real passion for his city and the people he hosts.
Tiago made the most of our time, and was very was thoughtful and accommodating with our diverse group. He took us to spots that might have been otherwise missed. Tiago ended our tour at a wonderful cafe specializing in making Portuguese tarts. He took extra time highlighting our map with more places we might like to see, including some great restaurant locations. He even answered some questions later in the day when we messaged him.
If you want somebody who is Flexible, informative and connected, choose Tiago for your guide.

In the world of tourism, I believe there is a difference between explorers and travelers. Today's walking tour of Porto was more about exploration and less about being a tourist. I am all for tourism, it is the gateway to exploration. But Gustavo's profound and in depth command of his native city inspired my husband & I to look deeper into Porto's cultural beginnings, giving us a better understanding of the city it has become today. As we drew closer to our meeting point at the Fountain of the Two Lions, my natural concern of how to recognize him was quickly dismissed when an arm shot up waving us over with a big smile...I knew we were going to have a great excursion. His humor and command of English set us right at ease and after a few great laughs we took off on what was the most interesting journey into Porto's past. With Gustavo, a museum is not merely a static building, it is a friend that protects his family's history (VERY extensive in this region) and a treasure chest that only he can unlock with a secret key. He cheerfully challenges convention with personal understanding, and if you think he is just giving you his perspective, he'll say, "well, let's do the math..." and you become a co-explorer looking at old maps with new perspectives. Of course, we sat to have a great cafe & eat "the best Paste de Nata in town," asked 100 questions and got 100 answers (he is a trivia champion...literally) and people were happy to see him everywhere we went (he is a local superstar). Thankfully, a tour with Gustavo is as flexible as you wish, but uniquely because his roots here goes back centuries so if you want to walk only flat routes in a city of hills, he knows how to make that enjoyable too. My suggestion, take this tour, put your compass away, and embark on a journey of of centuries that remains deeply connected to the present day Porto.

Fernando was an amazing guide. Through his extensive personal and professional knowledge of Porto we learned so much about the city's past, present, and likely future. We did the tour on our first full day in Porto and this really enriched the rest of our stay as we had a much greater understanding of the context of what we were seeing. Thank you so much Fernando!

Fun active and different. This tour delivered what it promised. Our friendly guide showed us untypical but educational and interesting places in Porto which helped us understand the city better. We also appreciated that the tour was small so we had plenty of time to ask questions and so we never felt rushed. By the time the tour was over we really felt we spent a lovely afternoon getting to know a Porto resident and his city. Thank you, Victor, for your tour with us today. We really enjoyed it!
