Great birding experience with Carlos and Louis! The combination of these two gentleman is something I won’t forget quickly. Louis, the enthusiastic, super-friendly driver and Carlos, the wise and funny birding expert.
We’ve seen 18 different bird species, with the European Roller and Osprey (with fish in his claws) as two highlights.
Definitely recommend to book with North Birding Tours; not because they’re the only birding agency in Porto, but simply because they’re the best!

We really enjoyed the day with Carlos and Luis. We visited several interesting sites and despite it was off-season for birdwatching, we were able to locate many species we were looking for.
We enjoyed the fields near coast, we went into the mountains and we naturally visited coastland as well.
Hoopoes, warblers, plovers, dunlins, to name a few, all really enjoyable!

We spent a delightful day birding in the Parque Litoral North just north of Porto. Our guides Carlos and Fredericko were very knowledgeable and personable. Even though the weather was not so kind, Carlos and Fred ensured we saw lots of great birds. They took us to excellent bird hides and we were able to get closeup views of waders and raptors. The trip package included a very nice lunch at a local restaurant and a very good regional birding book compiled by Carlos. A great break from city travel with excellent company.

Carlos Rio and his son-in-law met my family and me early in the morning in front of our hostel in Faõ. We were able to spot some interesting species right off the bat, notably an Egyptian Goose, Canada Goose, and a Reseated Spoonbill. Carlos and his son-in-law are great guys and we had some good laughs throughout the tour. We were also able to get amazing close up sightings and pictures of European Kingfishers and Water Rails. We finished the tour this a beer and some local appetizers at a cafe. I highly recommend this tour for anyone, wether experienced or not! It was one of the most fun days of our trip! Thank you Carlos for the extraordinary experience!

We had a great day birding at the esposende nature reserve on the 4th October. I would fully recommend this day tour to anyone interested in birds and wildlife whether you are an expert or a novice. We spent the day with our guide Carlos (a professional wildlife photographer. A lovely man and a complete expert). We also had the pleasure of being chauffered around the region by Nuno and Selen. Wonderful company and great fun all day. The birding wasn't bad either... After a foggy start to the day, we still managed to see some fantastic birds. Highlights (and a few firsts) included brilliant views of a male Bluethroat, Kingfishers, Kentish plover, Dartford warbler, Fan tailed warblers and many more... At the end of the day we felt like we were saying goodbye to new friends! (And the birds). Dan and Lex.

What an amazing day with North Birding Tours. Carlos has a deep knowledge of the birds and of the region itself. I never saw such enthusiasm on anyone before, spotting every little bird he can, and walking for hours until get the promised bird to be spotted. Also, what an amazing experience to see an US friend recording his 1000th bird record in Portugal during this visit - this is extremely special and make the day of any bird enthusiast!
I have no words to describe the feeling of being in the field with Carlos - the bird expert - and Rui - the guide who never gives up on a joke and that tried always to make us comfortable in all situations.
I totally recommend this company and these guides!

Did the "True Porto Story" tour and loved it!! They have it available in english, spanish and portuguese, almost in a daily basis so you'll probably have the chance to do a tour with them! The guides are really awesome, and we had a nice time! Also, comparing with the bus tour, we could go to really hidden places and they gave us good tips so we could enjoy our stay to the top :)

Unfortunately, I did not go on the tour. However, I still wanted to share this experience for fellow bird friends that might think about going.
I tried booking through Tripadvisor, but as the minimum number of people is 2, as a solo traveler, it was not possible.
Thus I went to the official website and contacted them using their contact form, as instructed on the website. This was one week before the planned tour - to date I have still not received an answer.
After some days, I contacted Carla through Whatsapp. Her number is provided on the website for spontaneous booking requests. For days, she ignored my message.
Two days later I contacted Sergio - same Carla his number was on the website. He read my message and just ignored it. To date, I have still not received an answer.
2 days before the tour I tried calling Sergio twice. No answer. I also tried calling Carla, no answer either.
1 day before the trip I tried Carla again twice. And only after that she texted back that they don‘t have enough registrations. After which she just blocked me on Whatsapp.
So just a bad overall service.

Great bird watching tour with Carlos and Nuna
They were so helpful and we also learnt a lot about Portugal
The lunch we had was delicious in a village restaurant

Great bird watching tour with local guide Carlos who knew where the birds were & how to identify them. Nuno was a great driver & translator when required. Good bird list from the day with mainly wet land species with only a couple of sites not meeting high expectations.
