Where do I even begin. I spent five days with Miguel touring Porto, the Douro Valley, Lisbon and the Sintra coast. The days included walking tours, wine tasting, port tasting, and visiting spectacular historical sites. He arranged wonderful lunches at special places that you wouldn’t have found on your own and took you to places that a tourist wouldn’t find. I tried two famous Portuguese treats and was even able to have grilled sardines that I was hoping for. One location was more beautiful than the next. What stood out so much was the historical knowledge that Miguel had, the love of the country and the ability to put a single traveler at ease. I honestly don’t think there are words to describe this trip. He was by far the best tour guide I have ever had and most likely ever will. It was so sad to move on to my next country. I felt like I was touring with my best friend. There is no one I would recommend more than Miguel.

Igor was amazing. Wineries chosen very good and personal experience. Lunch was Michelin star worthy. He was fun and knowledgeable. Lots of wine to sample!!

We took 2 private wine tours: Douro Valley and Minho area. Arrangements were perfect. Jennifer was super easy to work with to customize things. Our guide/driver, Igor, was great and provided insights/information based on his professional experiences.

Miguel was the highlight of our trip to the Douro Valley! His knowledge of not only the wine region but the country itself was phenomenal. He was funny, thoughtful, and so skilled at navigating the region. He made a custom itinerary for the four of us (two couples) that included two family run vineyards, and we even got to eat lunch cooked by one of the wine makers wife! We were blown away! I cannot recommend Miguel enough, a memory we will cherish for the rest of our lives!!

Horrible day. This may have been due to the fact that our original driver/guide was sick so they sent a substitute What went wrong *couldn’t hear a thing if you were in the back of the bus *no organized plan for the day *took us to Porto tasting (which took 2 hours!!!!). Guide said he didn’t realize the tour would be so long. (Wasn’t that his job???) *never made it to LELLO Bookstore *basically was a cluster all around Spoiled my desire to ever go back and see Oporto. Avoid

We spent a phenomenal day with Orchadia driving around the Duoro Val. The highlight of our trip (no question about it) was our farmhouse lunch in the Valley on this tour. It was the two of us and our guide. We had a tour of a small wine, we ate in the farmhouse dining room. The meal was farm to table, prepared by the owner, we saw the kitchen. She was an exceptional chef. It was fantastic. We enjoyed Amarante and the river ride. But this was the highlight.

Inasmuch as we were traveling with another couple who had not toured portugal extensively, I knew I would have a good time seeing things through their eyes, but seeing it through Miguel’s eyes was a whole other wonderful experience. Miguel is an enthusiastic, fun-loving history buff and all-around font of information - a fabulous ambassador for his country. Knowing that I was a frequent visitor to Portugal, Miguel made it his mission to take us places I had never been, much less heard of. Moreover, our group of four had varying mobility and dietary issues. Miguel not only tailored our days with that in mind, but also physically aided us when needed. We were all sad when the touring came to an end and look forward to returning to tour and discover other hidden gems with this tour company. The planning of our week-long adventure was spearheaded by lovely Jennifer, who painstakingly put together the outline of our tour, spending hours tweaking it to meet our wants and needs. We could not have been more pleased with the entire operation from start to finish. We took the Jewish Heritage Tour in Porto on August 25, 2023. I don't know how anyone could give this tour company above a "1" rating. Diogo picked us up on time in a comfy vehicle. That's where the "good" part ended. Saying about 10 words, he drove us to the Synagogue and the Jewish Museum. He did not speak at all while there. When we left, I asked what other Jewish sights we were going to and he actually said something a tour guide should NEVER say - " You've seen the museum, there's NOTHING else to see". REALLY??!!! We then went to the Lello bookstore where he told us what he felt was important - we get two free books with our admission tickets. No mention of the store's history, the current clientele, or even Harry Potter which is a major factor in the store's popularity. He then proceeded to drive us around Porto for another hour and a half speaking for about 5 minutes, mostly about how he was tired from a tour in Lisbon and not married since he hadn't found the right woman. We suggested an area for lunch that friends had told us about and he drove us there - again silently. No recommendations, no special place, nothing. That ended the tour. When I complained to the company owners that I deserved a refund they said we should have continued for a few hours more for the full experience. What experience? All we had for waaaaaay too much money was a non-verbal humorless taxi driver.

We had such a great day with Jesper. Learned so much about the history of Porto as we walked through the city. We had a fabulous seafood lunch. We opted for a boat ride on the Douro instead of the winery and it certainly did not disappoint. Great scenery and a relaxing end to the day. I highly recommend this tour.

We had the best time on our tour. Our guide, Jesper, was so knowledgeable about the Douro Valley and their wine production. He was so much fun too! The scenery from the port to the valley was breathtaking. The winery tour was interesting and the wines were great. They were not skimpy on the servings either!!! The lunch….superb!!! Do not miss this tour!

Our guide was Jasper Mateus Castle - beautiful with fantastic gardens. A must! Touronio very nice estate, delicious wines and excellent lunch. Son Antonio and his mother great hosts. Highly recommend. Douro boat tour pleasant despite weather. The day could have ended there. After one more wine tasting we went to Casa deJuste. A beautiful private home, lovel gardens & wonderful hospitality from Fernando & Anna. Outstanding dinner & wine! As delicious as the dinner was, we were full from lunch.

It’s only fitting that my first review in Portugal go to the most deserving. I have friends who I have travelled with before who used Oporto so naturally, with their recommendation I contacted Jennifer. What started out as a Douro tour ended up with our group of 6 having the pleasure of Miguel’s company for 5 days which included airport pickup and then a food tour of Porto, wonderful Duoro wine tour where we were dropped off for two nites in Pinhao, a day tour from Porto, transfer from Pinhao to Lisbon with a tour of Tomar and finally a Sintra tour. This all started out just looking at a wine tour. Jennifer was easy to deal with and willing to customize the tours to your liking. Miguel is a great travel companion leaving virtually no stone unturned. We have used many tour guides the world over and Miguel is in the top 2 so no hesitation recommending Oporto Shore Tours

Excellent private full day wine tasting tour in Duoro Valley. We were picked up from our hotel and our tour guide explained the history of the valley. We learned about the wine growing and the industry during our tour. The tour was specifically designed and tailored for us and visited 4 wineries during the day and had a spectacular lunch in another winery with excellent views. Delicious wine, great food and excellent service all around. Highly recommended!

The 4 incredible days my wife and I spent touring with Miguel in early March began 6 months earlier when I contacted Jennifer to inquire about Miguel’s availability and develop the highly detailed itinerary I envisioned; her patience, reassurances, suggestions, honesty, and good humor were invaluable in this process. From the moment we met Miguel, we felt completely at ease with this warm, kind, knowledgeable, humorous, accommodating gentleman who truly went above and beyond our wildest expectations to insure that even our tiniest, most mundane wishes were fulfilled. My wife’s dream to actually touch a real orange tree and a real lemon tree was brought to fruition by Miguel! Miguel’s extensive, seemingly inexhaustible, knowledge of the history, geography, and culture of Portugal kept us entertained and enlightened throughout the time spent driving. All restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. we visited were places only locals frequent; no “tourist traps” when you are with Miguel! Miguel also became our “trip photographer,” using my DSLR to take more than 800 pictures during our 4 days with him; he also took several photos with wife’s phone! Each day lasted far longer than the contracted 8 hours; Miguel’s focus is with providing his guests the most complete experience possible, not punching a clock (I have been on enough tours elsewhere to know the difference immediately).
