Best night in Porto was cooking with Nuno. We went to his local bakery, produce store & butcher with him. We prepared apps, main dish & dessert! Everything was FRESH! He served cheeses plus prepared another 3 items for our appetizers ie chicken meatballs, & lit a chorizo on a clay dish which was very impressive. He bought an octopus for our main course w/potatoes & veggie.. dessert was a creamed brûlée that I lit the sugar to caramelize the top! I burnt the top of one so Nuno easily fixed it. He’s such a gracious host and so knowledgeable about the history of Porto/ Portugal! He’s very accommodating if you can’t eat certain foods
PS. The day before we took the tile tour with Nuno : he’s a wealth of information!

Nuno was a wonderful host for our cooking lesson. Meeting a local and being invited into their home to prepare a meal was relaxing and rewarding. Just like catching up with an old friend for dinner. This was a great dive into Portuguese culture and history. We had the pork with garlic and wine sauce, with several delicious appetizers and a fantastic dessert that we made from scratch.

We had a great day with Nuno. He took us for a tour of the neighborhood markets where we shopped for fresh ingredients for our meal. His home was nice and the food we prepared was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about the cuisine and history in general. He sent the recipes to us and we plan to try them out at home.

We started our experience with a trip to the market to buy groceries for our meal. We wish we would have done this on our first day in Porto because we learned so many things that could have helped us during our visit. He provided a wonderful cooking experience in his home. We would definitely recommend Nuno. It was a highlight of our trip.

I wanted something special for our second dinner in Porto and since my partner and I enjoy both cooking and Portuguese cuisine I chose a cooking class with Nuno. Of course we were also very interested in getting to know a local person under somewhat informal circumstances and the reviews seemed very promising.
We did not regret this for a single second. It was far beyond our expectations: not only the extremely delicious rice with seafood (let alone the best fruit salad I've ever had -- but come visit Nuno to learn the trick) but also the hospitality and openness of the host. Nuno is awesome, friendly, ready to share his stories and experiences, funny and knowledgeable. We spent far much more time at his cosy house than expected and had way much more fun than I would have imagined. I could not eat breakfast the next morning and barely made it to the restaurant for lunch.
I do not know when I will visit Porto again but there's much more to see than I have seen. Likewise there's much more to cook. Next time we will take a city tour with Nuno as well as another cooking class.

My husband and I cooked with Nuno (and his lovely family) at his apartment in Porto last week. It was a highlight of our trip to Portugal for sure! We enjoyed participating in the meal preparation and getting the chance to have some pleasant conversation with Nuno and his wife. We also got to try several Portuguese wines. Bonus - he sent us the recipes afterward so that we can recreate them at home!
I would not hesitate to recommend this cooking experience or any of Nuno's other offerings.

Our time spent with Nuno and his partner Joana was phenomenal! Not only did we love the dishes we cooked (meat, cheese, roasted peppers for appetizers, seafood entree, dairy-based dessert) and wine we drank, but we loved learning about Portuguese history and culture. Nuno and Joana engaged in friendly conversation on a variety of topics, and made us feel very welcome in their home. We would recommend this to everyone who comes to Porto - the only thing we would do differently is do this workshop at the beginning of your trip so you can get suggestions on how to spend your remaining time in Porto.

We were looking forward to learning more about Portuguese cuisine and and expected this to be a reputable company since had booked through Viator. When we arrived at the location given it was in an alley off a run-down trashy part of the city. A man came out of a side door and said he was to give us a cooking lesson. He was very poorly dressed, appeared dirty, and we remained in the taxi to talk to him. The taxi driver kept shaking his head not to get out because it was an unsafe part of the city. We decided to be safe and not follow the man into the unmarked closed up building and told the taxi driver to take us away. Then the driver said " not safe, not safe". Most of Portugal we felt perfectly safe, but not down the alley in the run-down and trashy area.

Wow.
so much to tell someone who did not even get out of the car...
A building in front of my house is being built and another is being restored ...
I regret that such a thing makes my street ugly,
However no crime of robbery or murder was committed in this region of the city in recent times and I have never found a homeless person sleeping in front of my property.
I also regret that when receiving visitors at home did not remind me to wear the tuxedo.
I also regret that our taxi service does not require drivers to be able to express themselves properly in foreign languages.
The most important of this story,
the wines were well chosen, as were the cheeses and the smoked meats, the clams were fresh, the dessert was delicious,
I hate wasting food so we ate it.
So, after all, Thanks Ernie.
The taxi driver also thanks and I hope you had a good trip.

Our last night in Porto we took this cooking class and it was nothing short of amazing! Our host tailored our meal to the preferences our of group. We prepared appetizers, salad, entree, and dessert. An added bonus was that we learned a lot about the Portuguese culture, architecture, and history over dinner. A great decision!

Nuno was exceptionally welcoming, and he walked us through the preparation of some tasty appetizers, sea bream, seafood rice, and a puff pastry dessert. We even had a bit of a history lesson, and he busted out the globe, and we had the chance to learn a little more about Portuguese history. Thank you for a great time! Oh, and plan for a walk back to wherever you are staying, because you will eat yourself silly, and need some walking to settle your belly.

What time does it start? I tried to find answer by booking a date, but with no luck.
Also, it says this could be a group of 50. Are there usually that many? What is typical size?
