- P7471NLadrianac00An Unforgettable Portuguese Wine Tour With Amazing Views and Fantastic Food & WineMy friend and I were blown away by this experience. This was hands down one of our favorite experiences on our visit to Portugal. What made the tour even more fun was our guide Steve! Steve let's just say you are "fandabidozi!"
- Lambtail00A Great Way To See PortoThis is a great way to see Porto and get your steps in! Our guides showed us several hidden gems of Porto as well as the huge landmarks. Overall a great tour!
- Moira P00Great tour of the Douro valleyThank you Paulo for a great day out exploring the Douro valley. We really enjoyed it. A definite must when visiting Porto.
- Venture72933800Great port wine tourGreat time learning about port wine by visiting 3 very different wine houses. Fantastic tour guide, who made the tour super fun.
- rbincos00Fun tour and knowledgeable hostMichael was a great host and spoke excellent English. All of the wineries hosts were equally as hospitable. We did some walking, learning about the wine and port process, and had some fantastic tastings! Definitely recommend.
- nicolajdrake00Lots of (e)Fun (and wine)With so many different tours available it's hard to differentiate and choose one, we were disorganised and this was the one with availability and it exceeded all our expectations. Three friends (aged 38/42/44) from the UK. It is a full day (8.30am-6pm) and covers all you want from the Douro Valley - wineries, Port and a river cruise. The lunch location and food is excellent (risotto or the famous cod bachlaus) The wineries are generous with their tastings and you had no limits over lunch. In summing up, my friend said on the day "we've done other tours within Europe and this is the best"
- A6916TQrachels00Good but not as advertisedThe tour was good, views were amazing and the wineries were great but the description of the tour wasn’t accurate. It said a small group that would travel in a mini van. It ended up being a big group that filled a large tour bus. The boat cruise was with three other large tour groups. I wanted a small, more individualized tour and I got a large, rushed tour.
- susan H00Douro Valley TourAlthough we booked a small group tour of 26 people max we had 44 on the bus. Sara was our guide and did an excellent job with information and timing. The vineyards were amazing and very informative.Lunch was delicious and the cruise awesome. I was disappointed with it being advertised as a small group which is what I paid for and having a large group.
- MarilynOnVacay00"The Rock" our guide was really what made this so awesome! We are from California so of course we love our wine and this tour was so so amazing! We met so many different people, from different countries and one common love brought us together - wine! I love how you learned so much about Port wines and our guide (Joao Rocha) encouraged us to sit with new people. Joao was such a joy, always smiling, good jokes and just simply made the tour so much better. He deserves a raise! We loved him and highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Joao aka "The Rock!"
- 35MaxwellKipa00Excellence in Douro Valley TourAloha. We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Andre was the perfect host and guide. The wineries were delightful.
- bobp46400Good tour.Nice guided tour, Sara was great at giving us info, etc. Worked to keep us together and on schedule. Bus was comfortable but too warm, ac not working well. Great driver, very skilled.
- roberthP6985RE00Beautiful day for a Douro wine tourSara our guide was informative and helpful. The bus was clean and comfortable. Both wineries were interesting and enlightening. The lunch options were great and the cruise was beautiful and just the right amount of time.
- lisaoD4695RL00Douro Valley Trip a must do!Although there was a significant 45min wait for the bus at start of trip it did not take from what was an excellent day. It was a really enjoyable way to see the valley and to try some Portuguese wines and ports. The lunch provided exceeded expectations and venue was lovely! Book you won't regret it!
- Braengcanusa00Douro os magnífico theGreat trip. Learned a lot about the Douro region. The lunch was delicious. Great and entertaining tour guide.
- Mandy R00Vineyard tripA long day but lovely guide and good to see parts of Portugal that you may not normally get to see under your own steam. Interesting vineyards and informative talks.

Joao (and his trainee, Miguel) lead us on an incredible walking tour through Porto. We signed up for the Jewish Heritage Walking Tour and got so much more than we bargained for! Joao knew everything about the history of Porto and had us enthralled as we walked through the lesser-traveled streets of Porto. Stopping several times for incredible views of the city, we talked about current events and current day Porto to get a sense of life in this beautiful town. Joao was more of a “friend for the morning” than a tour guide, answering all of our questions and engaging us in delightful conversation. The weather was crap, yet the morning was lovely. A highlight of our trip for sure!

This was an interesting walking tour and a great overview of Porto from a different perspective, and really helpful to do on our first full day in Porto. We saw many hidden gems that we never would have found on our own, and learned about the Jewish history of Porto and Portugal. Especially important because there are few visual acknowledgements of that culture left in the city. Despite a rainy day, we had a wonderful experience with a personable and knowledgable guide who helped us navigate the day and provided suggestions for the rest of our stay in Porto.

Rocha was a wonderful tour guide. He met us at the highest point in the city where Porto society began and walked us through the history of the Jewish community from the earliest of times. He was very knowledgeable about historic events and the areas where Jewish people worked, lived, and practiced Judaism. As buildings are currently being refurbished, new information continues to be uncovered giving insight into history of the Jewish people and the tremendous impact of the Inquisition. It was a very worthwhile tour and connected us to a greater understanding of the history of Jews in Porto.

Very interesting tour with Nuno about the history of Jews in Porto. In general it's a good tour to generally acquaint you to Porto and its history. We appreciated that Nuno was happy to share many things about the city (including its undefeated soccer team and his hatred of Gaia) and around the route even if they weren't directly related to jewish history (but/so if you're looking for 3 hours of non-stop talk about nothing but jewish history, this might not be for you).
Affordable and worth your time if you're interested in the topic.

The Jewish tour of Porto was terrific. We signed up for a group tour, but my wife and I were the only participants, so it became a private tour. (Importantly, they did not cancel the tour.) Our guide was Maria, a young Portuguese woman (not Jewish) who is studying for her Master’s degree in architecture at Porto University. She was personable and incredibly knowledgeable. And she speaks fluent, easy to understand English. The only downside is that there is really nothing to see: Jewish sites have long-since been destroyed or buried under centuries of new construction.

Our guide, Nuno, had so much information to convey to our group! He was personable and took the time to answer questions. We walked around various neighborhoods in the old city and he explained the Jewish history in these areas. We also covered quite a bit of Portuguese and Porto city history and culture.

We liked all parts of the tour. Our guide Rocha was very knowledgeable and encouraged us to ask many questions. The route of the tour went from the beginning of Jewish settlement up to the end of the Jewish getto including the cemetery with the perfect river view. Rocha also gave us plenty of links to deepen our knowledge. We recommend the tour to anyone who wants to learn about the subject.

My mother and I really loved the tour, because our guide knew a lot about the city, the history and the jewish culture, so even we non Jews could dive into the topic. Aside from his knowledge, he was very humorous and also gave us good insights, were to get good local food. We tried one of the recommendations right after the tour and totally enjoyed the good, local food („alheira“). Highly recommended tour!

I highly recommend this tour!
We visited Porto for two days and this was by far our most incredible and well spent time there! Mariana, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable and explained the history of Portugal and its Jewish community very well. During the tour she helped us discover hidden traces of the Jewish community that lived in Porto thousands of years ago, clues we would have never noticed if not for her.
Also, we booked the group tour but were very lucky to be the only people that signed up that day! So it ended up being a lovely private tour.
It is important to learn about the Jewish heritage of Porto and Portugal in general, and fascinating too. It's worth every penny!
Thank you Mariana Salimo Carvalho!!!

Our tour guide Ricardo was excellent. Very knowledgeable! . Although there are only hints of Jewish life - the history and information gained fills it in. Highly recommend this tour- you go down streets and see sites you would never find on your own. Ricardo never tired of answering questions, he add on sites he thought we would be interested in , including the best Pastel shop - ( quick bite/ bathroom stop) and a hidden Aron Kodesh.

I am a single person looking to join a group tour, but all show a minimum of 2 people. Can I sign up as a single?
I am 67 years old & I have trouble walking for long periods. Did you have resting time or was it very fast paced. How long was the tour?
Thank you in advance for your feedback

The tour was not particularly fast paced and there were frequent stops to explain locations and structures of interest. However there were several challenging hill climbs and steps on the tour

I see this tour does not allow single people. Are there any other companies that offer tours for single people for Jewish Heritage tours? I don't mind linking up with others to save costs, and understand the price may be higher (but hopefully not double) for a single person. I am available Dec 22 to 24. Thanks.

For the "private" tour they require two people as a minimum booking obviously to ensure that they are getting enough money to make it worth doing, but there is no restriction on the group tour, which is the tour we took, and which only had 8 people on it. It is possible I suppose that they also do not run that tour if enough people haven't signed up, but it would not be because you were just 1
