We had a fabulous experience. Helena booked our excursion & have is her phone number in car we had any questions. Anac is an excellent guide and very sweet. Nuno is a great driver & was very pleasant to hang out with. The wineries were both amazing. Natasha at Calem & Joao at The Vintage Theory are passionate, knowledgeable & fun. Really unforgettable
The Douro Valley & Wine Tour was very nice, interesting and informative. With the roof open in the bus, we could enjoy the landscape in the Douro Valley up close. The guide was friendly and welcoming and knew about everything. We can therefore highly recommend this day tour to everyone.

    Sensational Douro Valley Tour
We took the yellow bus tour from Porto to the Douro Valley and winery on 24th October, 2024. I tour guide was Ana (I’m afraid that I cannot remember the young driver’s name but he was excellent). We set off at 8am from Porto - had a comfort break at a service station and then drove on to Pinhao, where we joined our sail boat. The scenery en-route was stunning, with some amazingly engineered bridges. We had a very relaxing sail along the Douro Valley. We then drove to the first winery - Kopke - where we had a very informative tour and a tasting (& nibbles) of a white wine, red wine and tawny port. From there we drove onto The Vintage Theory winery, where we enjoyed a lovely lunch, sone wine and port and then a tour. We returned to Porto and were dropped off at the Jardin do Morro. This was a first class tour - we would highly recommend. Well done again to our excellent driver who navigated some ‘tricky’ roads without any problem. Do not hesitate to take this trip!

    Highly recommended experience!
What a fabulous day! From start to finish. Our guide, Maria and driver Emanuel were wonderful. The Douro Valley is breathtaking and we had a great experience with both wineries we visited. Would highly recommend.

    Views, vineyards, river!
We had a wonderful time touring Douro Valley with Anabel and our driver was fantastic. We left before sunrise so were able to see the sun rise over the river. Having a boat ride during the day was great. The ride was smooth, and our view was spectacular with the changing colors of the leaves. Our guides at the wineries were informative and the tasting and lunch pairing worked well. My mother is not a big drinker but she enjoyed every bit of it too. Our lunch was in a beautiful estate with many fruit trees and we really enjoyed getting to know others from our group. We highly recommend it to anyone who is in the Porto area for multiple days!

perfect choice for a relaxing day to see so many things!
this a fabulous tour, worth the money. we did a rKver cruise, toured the Kopke wine lodge. then to a small family port business. had lunch outside behind the home and winery. it was so good, from soup to dessert with wine. met with fellow travelers and made new friends! we made a short stop after to stretch and back to porto. our guide, annabella, was great. personable, funny and knowlegeable. one of best decisions we made on our trip!

    Amazing tour of the area
Two thumbs up on this beautiful and fun tour. The guide and driver were fantastic and made our day even better. The boat ride, tour of the vineyards, wine tasting, lunch, and more wine tasting was a fun and full day. I thoroughly enjoyed it all. The group was such a fun dynamic too. Would definitely do this tour again.

    After bad start excellent
After a really bad start and I mean really bad when we all arrived at 08-00 and only left at 08-50 with no communication other than the bus was in traffic, duh , you operate a business in Porto and you can’t get a bus to its start point on time —things got a lot better when Annebella took over on the bus . As a guide she was wonderful and the drive to Pinhao and boat experience very good . The wine tour and tasting was excellent ( Flavia at Kopke top class ) —lunch and port tasting superb . Encouraged by our guide there was a lot of singing on the bus journey back to Porto — virtually everybody had a great time . Our driver was also superb managing to avoid a collision with some idiot overtaking .

Agree with Ray, once in a lifetime :)
Annabella, Annabella, Annabella! What an amazing day. From you to Nuno, our super driver, to everyone on the bus. I cannot describe how lucky we were to have this experience. From birthdays to be celebrated together to wonderful food and wine but the bus home was the highlight! Amazing tour mates and guide...you gave us an unforgettable day!

    Once in a lifetime
Ok. Annabella… I ordinarily do not like bus tours BUT all prior reviews pale in comparison to this. This tour was going much as expected with a ride to Pinhao, and a river cruise. Leaving Pinhao the fun began. Our driver who was superb had to stop on a very steep mountain road to allow a train to pass. The bus was filled to capacity and was unable to climb the steep slope. So we exited the bus to lighten the load and boarded at the top of the hill. Here the better part of the tour began. After a routine wine tasting we then went on to a boutique winery for lunch and multiple bottles of wine. Here the tour group bonded over food and drinks plus multiple birthday celebrations. Followed by more wine tasting we were all ready to party and there were members of our group who had us all singing and dancing the entire ride back. Annabella was a great host and allowed us to have a great time all the way back. Our driver was totally professional and got a great party back safely. Totally unforgettable! Oh Annabella I know you have videos so please share.

As I had a bad experience with Yellow Bus in Lisbon a few days before I was pleasantly surprised that the Porto service was much better. The buses felt far more regular and the bus actually stopped where you would expect it to. We did have an issue that we couldn't get our tickets to scan off my phone as the bus drivers machine did not work but he let us on anyways and told us to try again on our next bus. The boat portion of the trip was not too bad but for us it was raining the whole time and we could not enjoy the experience the way we would have liked but that cannot be helped sometimes. The best part for myself was the (wine tour) Port tour portion. The guide was extremely knowledgable and a very pleasant person to talk to. He answered every question fired at him with great detail. Also have to say the Port at the end was very tasty and if it wasn't for baggage restrictions on our trip home I could have parted with quite a few Euro bringing a box or two home.

As mentioned in other reviews, these buses don’t run frequently enough, but we checked with the tourist office on timing so therefore didn’t have to wait more than a few minutes.

We did the two tour (classic and castles) with the river cruise and (port) wine tour and tasting and thought that the value over two days was excellent (at €28). The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was that the commentary (via headphones) wasn’t reliable. Since most of the passengers were in a city with which they were unfamiliar, the lack of commentary is a significant issue. On the second bus tour (where only about 50% of the jacks seemed to work) we ended up sharing headphones plugged into the seat behind us, courtesy of a very nice gentleman who changed channel for us every time it switched to Italian when the bus went over a bump.

However, these are a great and economical way to see the city and the river tour was really good, as was the wine tour, but make sure you check with the cellar regarding the time that the tour in English takes place. When we went there was only one tour in English that day, at 4pm.

The yellow bus tours price was very great and even included a boat tour (that I never managed to get), the buses left on time from the first station and the commentary was alright, albeit, there could be a lot more and it definitely repeats the half of it between lines.

However, I would only recommend this tour as a "stay on the whole time" type of a tour - there are no schedules online nor anywhere on any stops after the first one. I ended up waiting for over 30 minutes in one (should have both lines) and another 30 minutes on another one, where it turned out the bus had actually passed, so I had to find a different way back.

What was definitely very weird is that they advise to "get off now" for the boat tours three times during the historical tour, but I saved it for the last stop and absolutely could not figure out where the boat tour left. I ventured around for 15 minutes and did not see any signage or anything else, only Google Maps location was across the river, a good 30min walk (and crossing of a bridge) away.

We had the 48 hour pass that included the Calem port cellar tour and the 6 bridges river cruise. The buses were regular not crowded and we never waited more than 15 minutes for a bus.
Perfect way to see a lot of Porto in 48 hours.
You can buy online and pick up the tickets from Praça da Liberdade which is just round the corner from São Bento Station easily reached from the airport.

The first day we did the historical orange route and got off the bus to do the Ca'lam wine tour. The second day we did the purple route to the beach and got off at the Serralves Contemporary Art gallery and Art Deco Villa-really worth a visit, and then on to the beach. We went on the river cruise on our 3rd day, as the bus driver told us this didn't have to be taken during the 48hour period. Again, very enjoyable. The buses only ran every 30 mins during the winter, so sometimes a bit of a wait-but what fantastic value for money!

We had the 2 day ticket which included 2 different bus tours, access to Calem port caves and a boat tour so absolutely incredible value for money and a perfect purchase for a quick city break to familiarise yourself with the city. The tours were prerecorded and not exactly top-notch but we enjoyed what we had for the amount we'd paid. If we'd have paid more for "better" or more personalised service, these would have been more time consuming and eaten into what was a 2 day flying visit so it served its purpose perfectly.

In terms of value for money this tour isn’t bad, €25pp (booked online) for a 2 day HOHO pass with river cruise and entry to Calem Caves.

In terms of punctuality I’m less than impressed. The buses claim to run every half an hour yet the first day we waited more than 45 minutes at the start point for a bus to arrive (and a further 20 for it to depart) and the second day was even worse with no bus coming for over an hour (and then 20 minutes sitting on a stationary bus, I assumed for cleaning but seemingly not). The opposition Cityrama buses with whom they share a stop seem to come with much greater frequency.

It’s more of a ‘hop on’ bus because once you’re in you don’t want to risk leaving an having to wait for another bus. We thought this would be a way to avoid the heat but we’ve spent most of our time in Porto standing and waiting.

Red top, Blue Bus, Yellow Bus. All similar and visit the keys places around the city and the coast. We went with Yellow bus and got the 2-day tram ticket and 1 trip on the Funicular. The cost was £30 and saved about 6/7 euros. The seats have commentary in 12 languages and give free earphones. If you have your own earphones use them as the free ones kept falling out because of the poor design. Once you activate the bus tour you get the tram tickets also. We did 2 days bus then 2 days tram. Once you use the tram it kicks in. Single fare about 3.50es.

We booked this through the hotel we were staying at and got a discount as it was a group booking. It was a 2 day ticket including the 6 bridges boat tour and Calem port tasting tour. We had a bit of a walk from our hotel to where we boarded the bus, some of the commentary systems didnt work but we managed anyway with the one's that did, it was informative and also told us where to get off the bus for the other tours. The buses run every half hour up to 1715hrs in the winter months. The boat tour was excellent, we were fortunate to have beautiful weather which gave us amazing photo opportunities. There was a commentary running indicating points of interest, the boat trip lasted just under an hour. The Calem port tasting we did the following day. This consisted of a tour of the cellars and a talk on the history and making of port, we were then invited to taste a couple of ports, a white & a tawny (we knew the difference by now!) others who booked the tour separately had a third 'ruby' port to taste, which made us feel a bit like we were in the 'cheap seats', but overall it was a very enjoyable experience, especially if you like port!
We really enjoyed the yellow bus tour and its excellent value for money and an ideal way to see the sights of beautiful Porto, a must for visitors.

I didn’t want to rent a car in Porto so this two day yellow bus tour worked out well for us. If you want to do the 6 bridges boat cruise and the port caves with tasting, then do it through the two day package at 28€
The port tasting and boat cruise cost 29€ so in many ways the bus is free. I dont understand some of the negative reviews. Yes sometimes the earphones did not work, or in my case they switched all of a sudden into Portuguese. In one case the driver let us off at one place but wouldn’t pick us up at the same spot so we wound up missing one bus, at Forteleza do queijo. So we relaxed in the park for an extra half hour. Big deal. The busses ran on time and were clean. They are marked with a card in the window if they are doing the historic or castle route. The castle route takes you to the ocean but we found it less interesting. We really enjoyed both the cruise and wine cave. Good value for your money.
