About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 916judyk0 contributionsThis is NOT an easy walk as advertised in the brochureAs a health and safety professional the concerns I have about the safety of this walk makes for my low rating. We are good walkers ( easy 10- 15 km per hike)and went prepared with water and jackets. We took this easy walk to determine if we would purchase a medium or hard walk. Following this walk we have decided to pass on other tours. The walk itself was through beautiful countryside. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly. WARNING The entire walking path was approximately 1 meter wide. One side was a drop to the cement ditch and the other side was more often than not a sheer drop off, mostly without railing. As well we had to pass through a completely dark cave with the same ditch on one side and a jutting rock wall on the other. One gentleman on our tour sliced his arm quite badly on the rock wall. So, my best advice is beware what you are signing up for. I am very surprised there is no warnings posted in the brochure. Take water, have a fitness level where you can walk a narrow path, take a light source and DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH VERTIGO or cannot walk thru a dark cave.Written November 25, 2024
- Gary S0 contributionsWest of Madeira TourThis was a great trip around the West of Madeira. Very interesting places to visit with stunning views from the mountain roads of the coast.Written September 25, 2022
- MarleneB2610 contributionsFantastic Place to visitCaught bus to Nuns Valley, had coffee at La Perle Cafe, lovely views, great Pastel da Nata (custard tart) and coffee/tea. Great ride back to Funchal with some spectacular views and narrow roads, very good bus drivers.Written March 2, 2020

- Rob H0 contributionsKnowledgeable guides reliable and well pricedWe used PoM for a West tour with Felipe who took us to many places stopping for just the right amount of time at each spot. He drove very carefully and comfortably. On another day we had Fernando take us to mimosa levada. Not as careful a driver but ok and he told us a lot about the flora as we did our walk which took nearly 3 hours for 6.5 km. Finally 25 euro paid for a transfer to airport.Written December 1, 2019
- Freybird0 contributionsWhat great valueAlso did the East tour 20 euros for a full day, great guides (Alex & Philip) small group (max.8) all done at a nice pace no rush, great stops and scenery and pleasant company as well, what's not to like. Great way to see more of the island highly recommended.Written October 29, 2019
- Diana K0 contributionsBest tour agency in FunchalMy boyfriend and I did the East Tour with Pride of Madeira while we were on holiday in Funchal. It was a great experience and I fully recommend both the tour and the agency! We had already done a few excursions that week but the East Tour surpassed our expectations. Our tour guide was Norbert - the most knowledgeable and attendive tour guide we had during our stay! We were picked up from our hotel and did the East Tour in reverse - starting from the last stop and then driving towards the highest peaks of the island. This was to avoid the crowds of tourists at each stop of the tour during the busy summer months. Norbert provided us with a lot of interesting information about each point of the tour and was very patient, giving us enough time at each stop to take in the breathtaking views and get some good pictures. This was very important for us as my boyfriend is a hobbyist photographer and he wanted to spend time to get some quality shots at each location. Another thing that was very impressive about this tour was that we had some extra stops, which made the journey even more exciting. For instance, we stopped to see Santana's coast line which was one of the most stunning places we saw during our holiday! Most other excursions only stop at the Santana village where the old Madeira houses are. We also had a great lunch in Santana at a small local restaurant. The lunch is optional and costs only €12 for a three-course meal with wine and coffee included. We were surpised that for that price we got such an abundant, freshly cooked meal! We were a group of four people who chose to have lunch through the agency and the food could have easily fed eight. Another highlight of the excursion was a short levada walk in the mountains. This is optional but I fully recommend it because the final viewpoint at the end of the walk reveals fantastic views of the spectacular Madeira mountains and cliffs! Norbert also took the time to show us around the only traditional style rum factory in Madeira located in the beautiful village of Porto da Cruz and we even managed to buy some rum and try the local drink. Overall the tour lasted longer than the other tours we had been on (most tour agencies normally drop you off at your hotel around 5pm, while we arrived back at the hotel at 6:30pm). This was because our tour guide, Norbert, took the time to show us around without rushing us through. He made sure we managed to see all highlights of the east side of the island and even more than what's included in most other tours. For this we are very grateful and we truly recommend Norbert and Pride of Madeira as the best tour guide and agency to go to for your excursions on the island!Written September 16, 2019
- HullSteve_H0 contributionsHidden AwayAfter a drive up through the mountains we came to this almost secret valley and village. The history behind the place was fascinating and the scenery stunning. Lovely little church and reasonable cafes in the villageWritten August 16, 2019
- acecamper0 contributionsThree tours of the IslandWe had a package of three tours, East , West and Nuns Valley. There tours with three very good guides. The mini bus picked us up promptly each time, although they were a little on the rickety side they were ok. There were many stops on the tours , we got to swim , walk and see many lovely things. I wonder if I would have chosen some of the stops rather than spend more time in fewer stops, the fish farm on one tour was not really worthy yet it took up 30 minutes. The rum brewery stop was a waist of time frankly since the staff there were not the least bit interested in us offering no information or samples instead they preferred their mobiles and there was a totally random stop in a back street in the middle of nowhere. However, the other many stops were worth while. I would recommend these tours even with the imperfections, a great way to see Madeira with genuinely nice people.Written August 12, 2019

- Lenka H0 contributionsTerribleHello everyone! We chose this company a few days ago for a half-a-day trip to the caves. Here are few advice if you decide to give this company a chance: 1. Don't worry if the Paypal on their website still doesn't work. You can pay to the driver in cash. However, want a receipt. I got two emails with invoice even though we agreed on paying to the driver. Just to be safe. 2. Double check they got your hotel/address correctly (they messed up ours) 3. Want an exact address for the pick up. Don't settle for a "bus stop in front of your hotel" (they weren't able to tell us and then surprise surprise... couldn't find us. We were standing there even before our pick up time and waited and waited. No call, nothing.) 4. If they are late picking you up, CALL THE OFFICE. If they can't find you, they leave without you without calling your number you are required to fill in while booking (the office only writes an email afterwards asking you to pick another day for your trip). After they say they MAY come back for you and nothing happens, call again. And then again. 5. Once you're at the caves and the guide/driver leaves your group saying the tour starts at 20 minutes and goes away, don't believe it. Stick together, because the cave guide could call you after 5 min and start the cave tour, leaving some people from the group behind. They had to wait for another cave tour. 6. Encumeada wasn't included. 7. Good luck! All in all, either choose a different company or prepare to practise your patience :).Written July 31, 2019
- TITOsudbury0 contributionsCheapWe chose the package offering two whole days tours and one half a day for 50 euros per person it's cheap, however vehiclers are tired to say the least and one of our three drivers was most unsatisfactory. However the lady in the office Lisia, she was very helpful and pleasant. You pay your money and take your choice!Written July 21, 2019

An excellent day out climbing high in the mountain range (by minibus) and then a 12klm walk to the 25 springs.
Favio our guide was exceptional, full of knowledge, interested in each of us, often humourous and very protective of health and safety. Great scenery there and back and of course along the walk itself. Favio drove back a different way so that we could inspect the cliffs along the south coast.
An exhilirating day and very good value for money. Go local and don't get sucked in by the 'special' deals which are linked to time shares.

We booked to go on the 26 fountains walk. We were picked up in an old white mini bus by a rude man who first demanded money and never told us his name. It then said get in as I don't care if you go or not. The rest of the walkers and us just laughed at how rude he was and watched him rush around. He was rude to people he met on the path and called them stupid etc. The walk was good, if rushed, and he pointed to the different plants while waiting for some to catch up. Drove downhill holding handbrake. Go but with another company.

Dear client,
First and foremost we would like to thank you for booking a tour with us, however, we are disappointed that the service was not what you expected. This is not the image we would like to portray to our clients and we will take measures for this not to occur once again in the future.
Please accept our sincere apologies and we hope that either way you enjoyed your holidays on the island.
