About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- VeeYes20140 contributionsBest trip in Portugal with Hugo RomanoHugo was very helpful in planning our trip. We did not want a fast paced trip and he worked with us, staying overnight a 2 stops (Fatima and Coimbra). this way we were able to see most of the places between lisbon and Porto and also not get back and forth to lisbon every night, He was very knowledgeable about all the places we stopped. Obidos, Nazare, Fatima, Almoral Castle, Tomar, Alcobaca, Coimbra, Aviera..... and so forth. he knew all the good restaurants and some of the best seafood we had were with his recommendations. Apart from all this, he was a very caring gentleman and i feel like i have gained a son in Portugal. Will definitely use him in future. Stay blessed Hugo and family!Written October 8, 2024
- Z6154AZdenniss0 contributionsGreat driveWe weren’t feeling well, but hugo took excellent care of us. His driving and insights were perfect. Hugo was there to help us, whenever the need arose.Written October 2, 2024
- Joyce_000000 contributionsExperienced driver - wonderful experienceHaving hired many drivers in a lot of different places, I can confidently say Hugo is one of the best! We hired him for a drive from the Lisbon airport to the south of Portugal and the 3-hour drive flew by with his entertaining and knowledgeable commentary the whole way. His car is clean and comfortable with enough room for 4 adults plus our luggage, and it even has wifi. We enjoyed our ride so much that we hired him for a second excursion later in our trip. Absolutely a 5 star experience! Thank you Hugo!Written October 1, 2024
- T9960IYadamf0 contributionsIncredible guideWe had an incredible time with Hugo! Not only was he fantastic company, but his recommendations truly elevated our trip with some unforgettable additions. His local insights made all the difference, and we wouldn’t have experienced Portugal the same way without him. - debraf7750 contributionsLisbon to Porto driveHugo took us from Lisbon to Óbidos and Nazaré on the way to Porto. He was prompt, professional, and fun! We went to the best spot for lunch on the water, and purchased the best cookies and nuts from a local vendor. The trip was perfect and I would definitely recommend himWritten September 23, 2024

He was highly recommended and respected. The reviews weren't wrong. Hugo's communication was great. He reached out the day we arrived in Portugal, which was 3 days before our tour date with him. He provided recommendations for places to see and eat in Lisbon. The day of pick up he arrived at our hotel. His vehicle is clean and he is a safe driver. You will feel very comfortable with Hugo. He is entertaining and knowledgeable about his country. We stopped at Fatima, caves, Costa Nova and Aviero. We had lots of time to look around each place.Written August 1, 2024

- 692tiffanyn0 contributionsExcellent tour guideWe came across Hugo on Facebook. Since he had excellent reviews, we booked him for a two-day tour in Portugal. Hugo is highly professional and knowledgeable about all the places he took our family to. My son thoroughly enjoyed the tour as Hugo provided him with a wealth of information, helping him understand the culture of the beautiful cities we visited. Hugo is a safe and punctual driver, ensuring that we did not have to walk far to meet him. He was always nearby to pick us up, which we greatly appreciated. He demonstrated excellent time management at each stop, ensuring that we had enough time without feeling rushed. Hugo took us to local restaurants for lunch and provided us with fantastic recommendations for various dishes. My son even had his first taste of barnacles and enjoyed them. If you are seeking a tour guide for your visit to Portugal, I highly recommend reaching out to Hugo. His prices are reasonable, and he is a safe driver. Hugo made us feel like we were visiting a close friend who was showing us around their hometown. Our family had a wonderful time in Portugal, and we owe it all to Hugo. Thank you, our new dear friend. We hope to return and see you again soon.Written July 10, 2024

- Josie5770 contributionsPersonable, safe, great serviceHugo Romano made our transfer from Lisbon to Coimbra into a wonderful day of sightseeing with stops at Obidos, Nazare, and Alcobaca. He was on time (actually early), helped with our mountain of luggage, and provided water and free WiFi in the car! I really appreciate his safe driving- he doesn’t rush, never tries to get through an intersection on a yellow light, etc. in the historic narrow streets he is a genius at getting through without a hitch! We loved Obidos, could have spent an entire day there. Best handicraft shops we have seen yet, and the cherry liquor served in chocolate cups is not to be missed. We ate at a very good restaurant on the cliffs above the Nazare beach, beautiful setting and great food - Hugo knows the best places to go. He is friends with one of the ladies who sells dried fruit and nuts in the center square. They wear 7 skirts, layered one on top of the other and Hugo explained the history behind that while she showed us the layers. The Monastery at Alcobaca is impressive and definitely worth a visit. I highly recommend Hugo for any driving or day trips you want to do in Portugal.Written June 16, 2024
- IvodeAlmeida0 contributionsRide, Sunset and Several places ! =)We took the ride from Lisbon to Portimão, with one stop at Evora. But we asked Hugo to let us do the Benfica Estadium and Museum Tour, which is amazing! Evora city is beautiful and we got the chance to see a small traditional flee market (lucky us since the driver knew about it and rushed us there). The ride went smooth and fun, and he knew around the city! The temple!! So beautiful! The Bone Chappel, Diana Temple and the St Francis Church. All was Amazing!! We got to Portimao and stoped at a long sanded beach and saw the sunset with a nice bottle of wine we got from the bar. All this was a spectacular experience, and the driver, was top notch (Smooth driving and knew a lot of the spots we went) Thank you and see you again with my family coming over from US in a few weeks! Can't wait!Written June 5, 2024

Our driver Hugo took a potentially disappointing day, and turned it into a memorable experience. The night before our trip to Sintra and Pena Palaces, he called to let us know of a potential strike by the palaces' staff. Using his experience and inside knowledge,
he was able to find a way to get us into both extraordinary palaces, minimizing the queue times, and take us to two other memorable sites (Cabo do Roca and the pools at Azenhas do Mar) as a bonus while he waited on information about the morning strike. I doubt we could have successfully navigated the challenge of Sintra and Pena without an expert driver, even without the strike.

Sintra is a magical place and the drive is amazing!! We were fortunate to have our local guide/driver - HUGO ROMANO who knew the area inside out. We loved this day as it was perfectly planned. Hugo was on time everyday, courteous to all of us, showed us local sports stadium, gave us tips on what souvenirs to buy and where, where to eat, and generally very happy person to be around. Thank you for this time! Can’t wait to come to Lisbon again!

Hugo is just a really nice guy. He goes out of his way to help you far the photos you want, tells you lots of extra info about things you see along the way, etc. He knew the answer to every question we asked! Also, he is a skilled and careful driver. Made reservations at a great waterfront restaurant in Cascais and ate with us, then went in with us to the Queluz Palace and gave us a personalized guided tour. Highly recommend.

We had Hugo from Mundo Romano for two days. One to Sintra and one to Tomar. Both days were fabulous and Hugo was an excellent driver and host. Hugo is willing to make changes to the itinerary if possible as well which was really useful given we had a lot of rain in our two days. Can definitely recommend him!

If anyone is looking for a guided tour in Portugal, I highly recommend this guide. He took us to Sintra, Cascais and Cabo da Roca, and gave us a great recommendation for a seafood lunch. He always responded to my questions regarding travel tips. He is knowledgeable and will give his honest opinion on how to get the most out of your trip, and he communicates very easily in English. Thanks to Hugo, we had an incredible time!

Hugo designed a custom tour for us to Sintra, Cascais, and Cabo da Roca. He was very knowledgeable about the history and culture and we had a wonderful time touring with him, including a fabulous lunch in Cascais. He also gave us many unique recommendations for sights and restaurants and we highly recommend his services! We were able to enjoy the day and scenery on our own schedule and not have to worry about driving or parking. He is great for a private tour or for a private car to any destination in the area. Enjoy!

Arriving to Sintra was a fairytale experience. The beauty the city had to offer was breath taking. As our driver, Hugo, made his way thru the winding roads, he shared stories and the history of this beautiful palace located within Sintra. Hugo made our arrival and departure from the castle as easy as it could be. Definitely a city worth visiting.
After leaving Sintra, our driver, Hugo, was taking us to our final destination for the night. His knowledge and expertise of the surrounding areas made our trip ever so enjoyable. We were coerced into making a stop before our night in Cascais and I am beyond thrilled that it was suggested. We made a stop at Cabo Da Roca which was without doubt a beautiful and incredible viewpoint. As we drove from Sintra to Cascais, I realized that I cannot call Hugo Romano a driver anymore, he became a friend. When you choose a friend, you choose family. It is comforting to know that we now have family in Portugal.

Hugo kindly took us to Sintra and Cascais on our second day. Once again, Hugo was very punctual. He advised us to go early as it would be best, and if we went later in the afternoon, it would be too crowded with a lot of traffic, and we would lose out on our tour. We are so glad we listened to his advice. When we left Sintra Castle, we saw the traffic pouring in.
Hugo then took us to Cascais, where we had lunch at a lovely restaurant with a beautiful view.
We are very grateful that we connected with Hugo and got to know him as a person beyond just a tour guide. He is incredibly knowledgeable and humorous. We had a wonderful second day with him.
Thank you again, Hugo, for two amazing days spent with you, during which we learned so much about Portugal.

We would like to do a customized private tour for two on September 6. It would include Palacio da Pena, Montserrate Palace, Sintra city for lunch, Cabo da Roca, then Cascais where you we would take public transportation back to Lisbon after spending a few hours. How much would this cost and are you available?
