      Wonderful evening with Paula
I had planned this cooking class with Paula as part of my wife’s 50th birthday trip. Paula was very responsive to questions prior to the class and communicated well with meeting instructions. We met off the ferry and walked to the butcher, then to Paula’s apartment. It was like visiting with an old friend. Paula is so personable and inviting. We made a delicious beef curry and Pastel de Nata. Paula is a wonderful cook and teacher. We had a great evening and highly recommend this experience for anyone, especially if you are looking for something different to do while on vacation.

Amazing class ends in tasty results!
Paulinha was an amazing teacher and hostess for our cooking class. Using fresh ingredients straight from the market, our experience was great. My daughter and I both were able to be hands on learning new recipes and cooking under her guidance and the results were amazing and tasty. Finishing off the class by eating our accomplishments was a great end to this adventure. I would recommend this experience to any family or foodie who wants a genuine experience and connection while in Portugal.

Very personal cooking and sharing experience.
My husband and I were looking for a personal experience with our cooking class, and that is exactly what we got. Cristina was so fun. She took us around the local area and told us a lot about her town. Visited the market and many local highlights. When we arrived at her lovely apartment, we felt at home. We helped cook a delicious Portuguese meal. We enjoyed a lot of conversation and found we had a lot in common. We have found a new friend. Thank you, Cristina. 🩷🩷🩷

Fantastic cooking class! Memories you can sink your teeth into.
My wife and I had a fantastic time cooking, learning and laughing as Paulinha shared her recipes and secrets for traditional Portuguese foods. We came home with much more than the usual travel trinkets that get set aside or lost over time, we came home with new skills to make wonderful dishes and share with friends....WOW ! And Paulinha is the real deal to learn from... we are home now and have Pasteis de Nata pastries coming out of the oven as i type this... now that is a memory you can sink your teeth into!

Five star cooking class where learning is fun, easy, and tasty!
Cooking with Paulin was more than a great lesson in Portuguese cooking,it was a taste of real Portuguese life today and a colorful history of how what we cooked came to be. This lady knows her stuff and puts heart into teaching. She makes you really feel the joy of cooking Portuguese as you learn it step by step. This is a five-star experience for a bargain!

      Wonderful wxperience and great food!
My husband and I had a wonderful time with Paula. She picked us up next to the ferry and we had a nice walk around the historic part of Almada, with her telling us stories of the area and her life. We then visited the local markets, and got to speak with some of the vendors. Paula made us feel right at home in her apartment, where we cooked and shared a delicious meal. I strongly recommend the experience, we will remember this for a very long time!

A Fun Night Spent Cooking in Paula’s home
My husband and I had such a fun evening cooking with Paula. She made us feel immediately welcome in her home and totally engaged us in preparing the food. Once prepared, we sat down around her dining room table and really enjoyed our efforts with a bottle of wine while sharing stories of our past and learning more about Portugal. We highly recommend this experience when you are in Lisbon.

Fabullus cooking experience with a local resident
The hostess was fabulous full of practical cooking tips and patient instructions on how to cook our meal of clams, fish in curry sauce, salad and patel de nata - all delicious for a nice noon meal. The bonus was to meet a very nice hostess to learn about her life and living in Portugal.

      Cristina welcomes us like friends
Cristina was amazing! When we arrived she gave us a private tour of her neighborhood and gave us insight into daily life in Lisbon. We talked for so long by the time we left it was 2 hrs past the scheduled finish time haha. She instantly welcomed us like friends and that is definitely how we left. Highly recommend!

This was probably the highlight of our entire 2 week vacation in Portugal. Paulinha was an excellent host-she prepared some recipes for us that were easy to follow but also represented a new challenge for us. She is a good teacher who balances helping you learn with making the day stress-free.

After the cooking class she took us on a brief tour of the city and up to a spectacular vantage point where we could look down on the river over Lisbon. I really strongly recommend this experience. It was truly a great way to learn about the place we were visiting, eat some delicious food and get a sense of the cultures that make up Portugal.

Our hostess Paula met my wife and I at the ferry at Cacilhas at 10 AM and took us on a walking tour along the river with great views of Lisbon. She then lead us through a very informative tour of a local market to pick up the ingredients necessary for our cooking lesson. We arrived at her charming home at 11.

Paula engaged us in interesting conversation about her personal history and about life in Lisbon whilst patiently instructing us in the preparation of the food we would be dining on. Following Paula’s lead, we prepared Sikkema Clam Curry, Arroz de Pato (Duck Rice) and Pasteis de Nata.

Some time after 2 we sat and enjoyed our meal together. The food was the best we experienced during our stay in the Lisbon area. Paula was very generous with her time and walked us back through town to the ferry at 3:30 where we said our goodbyes.

Paula is an excellent hostess and a very clear and patient teacher. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience and highly recommend her services to anyone wishing to immerse themselves in a uniquely Portuguese experience!

Paula is a dedicated host. The market visit could have been longer with more explaination, but appart from that we really enjoyed both the food we cooked (especially the pasteis de nata) and the discussions we had. Don't hesitate in telling her what specialty you would like to prepare, she can adapt her recipes!

SO MUCH FUN! Paulinha was a wonderful host and we had a blast spending the afternoon with her! You feel as though you’ve been friends for years as she takes you around her neighborhood to get ingredients and then back to her cute bakeshop to prep the meal. My husband and I loved feeling right at home with Paula as she taught us traditional cooking techniques and introduced us to some seafood we’ve never had before like ray and shark! All was enjoyed over a glass (or two) of wine or beer! It felt like we were hanging out with an old friend. After lunch, she walked us along the river giving us a unique and beautiful view of Lisbon from Almada. We loved learning about the neighborhood as much as learning about the delicious meals! We absolutely recommend this experience for an authentic afternoon in a quaint, Portuguese neighborhood! Thank you so much, Paula!

A truly wonderful experience! Paula gave us a great cultural/historical tour before we went to the market to select fish and various spices/herbs for our lunch of Goan clams, salmon curry with basmati rice and pastel de nata. Paula’s hand on instructions and knowledgeable tips ensured the meals was fun to prepare and delicious. The short ferry from Cais do Sodre to Almada was easy and it was great to experience a very different atmosphere - we will absolutely go back! Many thanks Paula for welcoming us to your home and for sharing your love of cooking!

On reflection we were disappointed with the experience. Paula was a pleasant host but the market (there really isn’t one to speak of), the cooking afterwards, the lack of focus and environment does not justify the price. It was all a bit chaotic as Paula was catering for others whilst we were there too which took focus away. It all seemed rushed. The kitchen was very cluttered and it’s hard to see how food hygiene standards can be maintained .. there was very little clear space and very little food separation. We didn’t think it was authentic either as the main recipe came off of a phone. All in all it’s not an experience we could recommend.

Our day with Paula was so fun and memorable. My husband and I thought this would be a nice addition to our honeymoon itinerary since we'd be cooking together for the rest of our lives and the day was perfect. We loved learning about her tips, techniques, and spice blends in the kitchen! We had a lovely, customized meal, but most of all enjoyed walking around Almada, visiting the shops and chatting with the locals - all of whom where friendly with our host. It was so easy to get there from Time Out Market in Lisbon- just a quick ferry ride with nice views. You're sure to have a bom dia with Paula!

Excellent communication from the start. Paula was welcoming and personal in her approach, suggesting options to suit our tastes. We learned a lot as amateur cooks from our guided, hands on experience and very much appreciated her useful tips. Paula provided a relaxed, ‘at home’ atmosphere, making for easy conversation. Thanks, Paula, for a memorable holiday experience.

Paula is a warm and knowledgeable host who makes you feel at home in her neighborhood from the moment she meets you at the ferry. We thoroughly enjoyed the day, and highly recommend this experience. We feel we’ve gained a wonderful friend in Paula!

Paulina was absolutely fantastic. She made my daughter and I feel like family. She not only taught us how to cook some amazing Goan dishes but also gave us a tour and history lesson of her town. My daughter and I cannot quit talking about what a wonderful day and lady she is. Highly recommend for anyone. Thanks Paulinha. See you next time.
