Very well organised and fascinating trip with an excellent guide
Very well organised day- saw Sintra, the Palace and its gardens , Cabo da Roca and Cascais- would be very difficult to do in a day yourself. Our guide made the garden walk fascinating with lots of interesting information. Considering all the travel involved, entry costs and the excellent service of our guide , the trip was great value. Our Guide (Nuno )was fantastic and did everything to ensure we had a great day. He was very knowledgable and happy to answer all our questions . His enthusiasm and interest in all we saw was superb . He constantly checked we were happy with arrangements and was happy to make any adjustments that we requested. When we left a coat in the car Nuno personally brought it back to our apartment We would all very much recommend this trip and cannot recommend Nuno highly enough Having an email and telephone number (which was answered) to contact the trip organisers was very reassuring

Great day out with knowledgeable Guide.
Great day out - picked up and dropped off from our Hotel was very convenient. Our tour guide Nunu was actually from Sintra and he sound passionate and proud in relation to Sintra History. walking up to Pena castle through the garden made easiler just by listening to Nunu in sharing his knowledge with us. for example the the name of the Kings and Queens, stories behind Pena Castle and the down fall of Royalty line. Both my daughter and myself would not have know or understand the full history if we did not take up this trip. (of course we can read and do our research but ....) Right choice indeed and full credit to Nunu. love the timing of entrance - without having to wait among the long line. stopping at Cabo Da Roca, lighthouse and coastline have added few more steps and several nice pictures/scenery collection of mine. 45 min stop at Cascais seem a bit rush to me but with the delicious Ice cream that we are able to enjoy in this particular stop perhaps had compromised my disappointment. In summary, I am glad that I have booked this day trip and have learn so much regarding the history of Lisbon - Portugal from our tour guide - NUNU> thank you very much.

        Philip made our tour excellent!
Philip was our private guide and he has to be the most knowledgeable guide in Lisbon. He’s been here his whole life, speaks perfect English, and hetruly wants you to see the best of Lisbon. We had a phenomenal time with plenty of time to do what we wanted.

Fabulous palace to visit, tons of pictures taken
The palace was fabulous, the tour guide was fun to hang out with and very helpful (although sometimes is hard to understand what he was saying). Definitely recommend visiting the palace.

Expect nothing but good things while on this tour. Absolutely the best way to get a better appreciation for the architecture and history. Our tour guide Oriana was perfect. The drive there was comfortable, timely and well worth it.

        Trip to Evora and megaliths
We really enjoyed the tour. We learned a lot about the region and had opportunities for great photos. We even went to see a few “hidden gems” which really added to the trip. It was a day well spent!

An Amazing Tour with a Caring Guide and Great Company
The tour was absolutely amazing! The guide was incredibly knowledgeable, and it’s clear that she truly cares about what she does, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Plus, the couple in our group were so friendly and fun to talk to—it added a great dynamic to the entire trip. Highly recommend!

Fantastic tour of Pena Palace, Sintra and Cascais
Outstanding! We visited Pena Palace, Sintra, and Cascais. Our tour guide, Sergio, is what really made it special. He was so friendly and incredibly knowledgable of the Portugese history. He pointed out so many things along the drive and was so considerate. The hike to Pena Palace is no joke! It took probably 45 minutes and is incredibly steep. I only wish we had more time in Cascais as it was so beautiful along the coast. One other minor point but important here, Sergio was an excellent driver and we had a nice van. You will be comfortable and safe while curving around the winding roads of the Portugal coast. Do yourself a favor and book this one!

        Brilliant day out
The guide was delightful and had a lot of local knowledge. I was on my own but the rest of the group was very friendly and i had a lovely day out. The Sintra palace was stunning, then a few of us had a lovely lunch in the village before moving on to Caiscais which is also a village worth visiting. All the Christmas decorations were being put up everywhere which made everything look quite festive. A well planned tour and I'm very glad I did it

        Best tour in Portugal!
This was the best tour I had in Portugal! The bone chapel was amazing! The megalithic site was also very interesting. The guide (JoĂŁo) was super friendly and very knowledgeable. He suggested a terrific Portuguese restaurant for lunch. I highly recommend!

This tour sounded so different than the usual mass tourist site of Sintra. I had some knowledge of the Knights Templar. After some research I found "Around LIsbon" and signed up for the tour. It was a pleasant and welcome surprise that I was the only one on the tour. The guide and his Scottish intern were the other two people. Thanks Around Lisbon for not cancelling. Classy company.
The guide ( and I apologize that I have forgotten his name) was a wealth of knowledge. Even learned about eucalyptus trees. The Convento is a marvelous heritage structure. The small chapel was impressive and the architectural details of the complex worth a visit especially within the history of the Knights.
Tomar is a small but interesting town. Wish we had more time. Shops closed for " lunch" is not tourist friendly.
Almoural Castle island was a step back to the history of the area that needs to be promoted more as a day destination from Lisbon.

Had a brilliant day with out guide who was very informative and attentive from the early morning till the end of the day.
We had a last minute hiccup before the trip started and ended up needing to bring our luggage with us the company were very obliging to accommodate our bags etc.
On our trip as a group of four was very relaxed given plenty of time to check out all that was to see. Our guide was very patient as at time we had scattered lost in the history or the views and he was able to round us up like a mother hen bring us back to coup. Even ensured we had the right tickets etc. For the next leg of our journey.
Brilliant trip well worth the money.
Only disappointment was the gift shop at the castle. Couldn't see and books in English on the castle, though may have missed them.
Thank you for a great day

Our guide, Oriana, was amazing!!! She is so knowledgeable about the history of Tomar (the town as well as the Templar Castle and the Convento de Cristo Monastery), Almourol Castle and the Knights Templar. I booked this tour based on the interesting looking places to be visited with little more than a basic knowledge of the Knights Templar. After spending the day with Oriana I had a much better appreciation of the history behind the interesting looking places. She also provided a great recommendation for lunch (not included in the tour price). After lunch we also had some free time to explore Tomar on our own). I would highly recommend this tour (and if possible, request Oriana as your guide).

The tour vehicle was absolutely terrible and literally made the trip torture for the travelers. The van was ill equipped, very noisy...so much so that only the front seat passenger could hear a work of our guides description. It was a hot and humid day and the AC barely cooled the front seat. Wind noise from the sliding windows added to passenger discomfort. Seating was uncomfortable at best and visibility poor. For an all day excursion, this was inexcusable. While, the tour offered at hotel pick up, I would have preferred pick up at a central location. Spending 2 hours driving around the city during peak traffic for pick up and drop off was exhausting and unwelcome. Our guide was very kind and instructive, however no-one could hear him. The subject matter was fantastic.

Dear Brian: We're very sorry you were less comfortable in our tour. It was the hottest day of the year, so far, and Tomar is a hot region. The van you were in is a very recent Volkswagen Caravelle, one of the best 9 seats vehicles in the market. It's a very nice vehicle. Unfortunately, our guide (even if very knowleadgeable) is new to the company and didn't adjust temperature settings correctly, as it was his first time in this vehicle. Windows should be properly closed not to make noise and allow the interior temperature to decrease. Regarding hotel pickup, it is a feature we offer, but it can take some times in traffic, unfortunately. However, most our guests still appreciate the comfort of our offer. Hope you can be back to Lisbon so we can offer you another tour of your choice. Safe travels, Gil Around Lisbon Team

First site of the Convent of Christ was awesome! Loved experiencing a place so full of history. And to marvel at their ability to build such magnificent structures during that time frame. The island with the castle was a beautiful sight.

Our tour guides were very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed touring with them. We would take other tours with them if we return to Portugal.

This is a wonderful day trip. Tomar, Tomar Castle and Convento de Cristo, and the surrounding area of Portugal, are beautiful, and Almourol Castle is very interesting as well. Our tour guide, Joao, did a fantastic job. Even though we could not sail over to Almourol Castle due to the high water level and fast-flowing river, Joao had a backup plan to go to a historic church in Tomar where the headstones of former Templars are located. I would absolutely recommend this tour.

As a solo traveller in Portugal using solely public transport, it was difficult finding affordable group tours that would allow me to explore the more remote towns efficiently. This Tomar/Almoural day tour was absolutely wonderful...there were 3 of us (all solo travellers) and we were picked up at our various accomodations and dropped off as well at the end of the day. The places we visited were magical especially the Convent of Christ. And our guide/driver was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended

I can’t say enough about this tour company and the quality tour guides they hire. We changed our minds at the last minute from a day to Fatima to the Castle in Tomar. They accommodated at the last minute and made sure our tour guide Jaoa was on board. João was an incredible historian and we learned so much history in one day. The Castle in Tomar was glorious and lunch in the quaint city was delicious. It felt like such a relief to put trust into a tour company and not feel taken advantage of or slighted. The tour was an all day event and worth every penny. Felt like a college history class but without the boring lecture! We loved every minute of this tour and João was a superb guide.

Our guide Nonu was very good. Very easy going guy who shared lots of information throughout the tour. Was open to being flexible on the wants of,those on the tour. The Covent de Cristo was the definite highlight of the tour. Lots of climbing required at the Castle. Would be better if the guide had a microphone. While it was a small group tour in a van if you were sitting in back of van it was a bit difficult to hear with the road noise. All other van tours we took used microphones and that definitely made those tours better.
