My husband and I took the Private Sintra, Pena Palace, Cabo da Roca and Cascais Full Day tour with David. It was an absolutely awesome day! David picked us up at our hotel in a roomy sedan (van also available if needed) and drove us to Sintra. He is so knowledgable about the area (he lives in Sintra) and the culture and history of Portugal. We started with the Pena Palace, and David, as a tour guide, is able to get skip the line tickets, so we were the first to enter the palace. Impossible to describe, but a beautiful and interesting place. David also tailored our tour: it was a rainy day, and we decided we'd rather not walk around the gardens of the Quinta da Regaleira in the rain, so we pivoted to the National Palace, which was really interesting, especially the kitchens and the Coat-of-Arms-Room. He took us to a wonderful bakery where we tried travesseiro, the pastry of Sintra. So delicious! From there we headed over to the coast, with David pointing out other interesting sites along the way. We had lunch near Azenhas do Mar (cliffside town-what a view) at a family restaurant, very good and reasonably priced. Last stops were Cabo da Roca, which has a beautiful ocean view at the western-most point of Europe (David knew the spots for the best photos) and Cascais, a beachside town. We then headed back to Lisbon. When we return to Portugal, we will certainly ask David to guide us. Highly recommend David and the What to do in Portugal tour company!

On a recent trip to Portugal to celebrate a BIG birthday with my husband who has some mobility issues, we were extra lucky to have found David Monteiro, a tour guide from Lisbon. He picked us up following our Douro River cruise in Porto and drove us to Lisbon stopping at many sea side stops. He never rushed us and took as much time as we required. His English and manners were impeccable and his local knowledge of all Portugal was extensive. David made our trip better than we could have expected. We had a fantastic experience with Daniel on our full day trip to Sintra and Caiscais. Daniel was so kind and knowledgeable about the region and its history. He picked us up from our hotel in Lisbon, then took us to Caiscais and Cabo do Roca, then to Sintra for a delicious lunch at a local restaurant complete with local pastries that he supplied, then to Quinta do Regaleira and Pena Palace. The weather was a little rainy, so he adjusted the schedule of our tour to let us see the most without getting too wet, and of course provided umbrellas. Highly recommend Daniel and this tour company!

David was an amazing guide. He was patient flexible to our needs and extremely knowledgeable about all history. Of Portugal. He wa a very accommodating and anticipated our requests. David drove out party of 8 from Lisbon to Porto with a stop in Óbidos along the way. He was super friendly and knew all the info about the spots we were headed. He had touring suggestions while in Porto and was available to us for driving as needed. He also drove us back to Lisbon with a stop in Nazare. I highly recommend him. We did a lot of our own planning, but David also does complete tours etc. You’ll have a great time with him!

Thank you to David for getting us from London to Porto (by way of Óbidos) to Coimbra to Lisbon (by way of Nazare)! We built our own adventure with his help. All his suggestions and information about the areas we visited were excellent. We had one day with a different driver and now I wish we were with David for that day too. Highly recommend!!

We had 5 amazing days with David. He was very responsive to messages before our trip. We were able come up with a great trip that covered many areas. David became a friend on this trip. We can’t say enough great things. We highly recommend David for all of your Portugal travel needs.

David was with us for an entire week. He had a very comfortable van and was an extremely safe driver so I never got car sick (which I usually do). He new all the best spots to view from and saved us hours in skipping lines and less attractive sights. He was a real pleasure to tour with and we will certainly be going back to visit David again. Just returned from a fabulous vacation in Portugal/Spain. We hired David for 4 days to drive us from Lisbon to the Algarve Region, Seville and Madrid then back to Lisbon. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a memorable time. Took us to small villages and family owned restaurants along the way and always very flexible. Awesome English speaking guide. Comfortable van for 6. Very personable and knowledgeable. Engaged with each of us and our interests in touring. After 1st day we hired him for the next 4 days. Very reasonable. Took us to amazing places, restaurants, ancient sites and towns we would never have experienced otherwise. Very flexible and accommodating. I wish I could give him a 6. We recently had two days of amazing tours to Sintra and the Algarve with David. We have never booked a private tour before and we are so happy we did. David picked us up at our rental in his clean, air-conditioned van equipped with WiFi and bottled water. We really enjoyed learning about the history of the areas and David enlightened us with many fun facts. He was friendly, funny, and genuinely kind. The boat cave tour was a highlight of our trip and one we will never forget. David showed us some great locations and helped us take fantastic pictures that we’ll forever cherish. We had an amazing time exploring Algarve with Daniel! He was incredibly insightful and thoughtful throughout our trip. He made sure to get us snacks and even bought us wine and olive oil to bring back with us to the United States.
