We start our tour through the city of Palmela dating back to the Roman period, having been conquered by D. Afonso Henriques to the Moors in 1147. We highlight as main monuments the Pousada de Palmela and its imposing Castle, built around the 9th century, located 240 meters above sea level, where on clear days you can see Lisbon.
After the first wine tastings in Palmela we will enjoy a tasty lunch in the fishing district of Setubal, with the typical gastronomy of the city, fresh fish, seafood or the traditional fried choco.
After lunch you can enjoy a wonderful view over the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful Troia Peninsula, a sandy language that stretches along the Sado estuary. The Serra da Arrábida is protected by its diversity of fauna and flora and its well-known white and fine sand beach with transparent and luminous waters, Figueirinha Beach, in Portinho da Arrábida. On the slopes of Serra, there is also an old Franciscan monastery, the Convent of Our Lady of Arrábida.
Next up is the pretty village of Azeitão, known for its wine of excellence produced by the José Maria da Fonseca cellars, which produces the "Periquita" wine and the famous Moscatel de Setúbal will have the opportunity to follow its production method by making a wine tasting. This village is also sought after by traditionally hand-painted tiles of São Simão, where we have a brief description of the clay molding process and its painting. To finish in a "sweet" way this visit proves a typical Azeitão pie, typical of the region.
Travel back to Lisbon with your private guide, stopping to soak up the city views from the Christ the King monument. Your tour ends with a drop-off back at your accommodation in Lisbon.
