          Well worth while
A simply lovely day. Amour guide (Paolo) was amazing. I mixed up the meeting place and was late. He was just so polite and professional about it and welcomed me. I was solo and there were two other ladies from Brasil. He did the tour in both English and Portuguese. His knowledge of the history was just wonderful. Ensuring that everyone was always included. He truly went above and beyond. Well worth taking this tour. I hope you get Paolo.

          Must see!
Victor was our driver and guide. He gave us all the time we wanted to pray and tour around Fatima. We went to town with all of our photo opportunity in Batalha, Nazare, and especially Obidos. Even though it was a long day, he was very patient with us and did not rush us at all. He recommended Mosteiro Do Leitao for lunch. Their crispy pork did not disappoint. He even made a list of recommended restaurants by locals in Lisbon for us. He's a safe driver, patient guide, and definitely know his food. The whole trip was seamless.

          VERY Highly Recommend!
Eduardo was absolutely phenomenal! Not only was it so wonderful to hear all of the history and details of the places we visited; but Eduardo is so very proud of his culture and history and shared such a passion for everything he shared with us. He was 5 minutes early for our pickup, had chilled bottled waters ready for us and was eager to start the day and give us exactly what we were looking for. We would HIGHLY recommend him again and again! Truly well worth the cost of the tour and then some!

We have an excellent day with our drive/tour "Ruben". He was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Ou's tour was from Lisbon to Fatima and Tomar. The recommended restaurant by Ruben for lunch was excellent (good food, drinks and dessert). Ruben helps us to font some souvenir in Fatima and Tomar. Thanks for all your help, Ruben and Hugo.

Ruben and WalkBorders: the perfect combination
We had the most amazing time in Sintra due to our incredible guide, Ruben. The amount of insider knowledge he had about Sintra and the surrounding area was incredible. He told us exactly how to get the most out of our visit to the outside of the Pena Palace, the gardens of the Quinta Regaleiria (sp?) and the Montserratt Palace. We learned so much about each place and the surrounding area; we felt like we were locals. We had a great lunch at the Bar do Fundo sitting outside watching the surf, and we finished up the day in Caiscais, which felt like a sunset party. We really enjoyed Ruben’s knowledge, and how he made sure our needs were taken care of.

          Walkborders make Portugal come alive!
Walkborders is amazing! They have the BEST people to help customize our Portugal trip. From Lisbon to Tomar to Porto. Then to the Douro Valley & Wine Tasting. Then from Porto to Fatima, Nazaré & Obidos. Then Lisbon and side trips to Sintra, Cabo da Rica, Estoril, Cascais, as well as to Setubal, Azeitao. Then down to the Algarve! Great company, Hugo was a dream to plan with! And the Guides & Drivers are ALL FANTASTIC, with special shout outs to “Hugo Boss” up north in Porto/Douro Valley, and to Manuel in everywhere else! Manuel is truly the BEST of the BEST! All 5 of our Guides were great, but when planning your custom trip with Hugo, please ask him for Manuel for sure!

          Amazing Private Oporto Tour
My wife, daughter, and I had an unforgettable experience on the Private Oporto Tour in April 2023, organized by Portugal Premium Tours and led by the fantastic guide Filipa Rodrigues. We highly recommend her expertise and enthusiasm. Embarking on an 8-hour private tour with Filipa added an extra layer of richness to our experience. The extended duration allowed us to delve deeper into Oporto's charm, savoring every moment with her expertise. Filipa's personalized insights and anecdotes brought each destination to life, creating a tailored and immersive adventure. The extended visit to the Port Wine Cellar and the boat trip on the Douro River became more than just attractions; they became cherished memories. The luxury of having an exclusive and specialized guide/driver in a Mercedes vehicle ensured a seamless and comfortable exploration of Oporto's wonders. Our heartfelt recommendation goes to Filipa and the unparalleled advantages of an 8-hour private tour for an unforgettable journey.

          Great way to experience Portugal!
We spent a week in Portugal with Walkborder Tours with Carlos as our guide/driver. It was apparent from the beginning of our trip that Carlos was enthusiastic about and took much pride in the culture of his country. He was friendly, listened to our requests and made reservations for us at several great restaurants. We enjoyed his sense of humor and looked forward to new adventures every day. Thanks Carlos for sharing Portugal with us! Linda Fleming and friends

          Memorable day!
Our day started with Ricardo picking us up at our hotel. After introductions, settling us in and providing us with cold water, we got on our way. Ricardo provided us with an overview of our day and also asked if there were any particular monuments or sights we were particularly interested in. On Hugo’s recommendation (the tour company owner) we had pre-booked tickets for the Peña Palace. While we were enroute, Ricardo assisted with purchasing tram tickets to get up to the palace. After a leisurely and informative drive, we arrived at Peña Palace - we were pleasantly surprised to discover that Ricardo would be personally guiding us during our visit to the Palace. He is very knowledgeable of the area, and the history of his country, and shared anecdotes and pointed out many features that we may have missed. After the Palace visit, we made our way down the mountain to Sintra village where he recommended a local pastry shop to try some popular specialties - so delicious! We had some free time to walk around and shop. We opted to have lunch enroute in Guincho, and Ricardo reserved a table at a restaurant overlooking the beach where we enjoyed a delicious lobster salad. From there we continued to Cascais where Ricardo shared the history of this area during World War ll. We chose to just do a drive through of Cascais and return to Lisbon. The car was very comfortable, and Ricardo was an excellent and very safe driver - the tour was well-paced and we never felt rushed. We would highly recommended this tour, and Ricardo in particular, for a memorable tour which is very customizable to suit your preferences! Thank you, Ricardo for providing us with a wonderful day! We really enjoyed your company, your sense of humour and the interesting conversation!

The tour requires a very dinamic guide once there many places to know in one day. Our guide had a deep knowledge in history and art, but was not convinced that the tour could be done in just one day, so we did not see some places included in the tour. Besides, it would be nice if Walkborder tours advice tourists about queues on busy seasons, so we could buy tickets in advance to avoid long hours waiting. We enjoyed the tour, but paid more than we saw, unfortunatelly.

Hello We are sorry that your tour did not live up to your expectations. However, it seems that we must correct some points; We knew that after two years with tourism "stopped" all over the world that 2022 would be a year of queues and with many people wanting to travel, hence the queues you describe, which are not only in Sintra, but across the globe. It's not true when he says that we should contact our customers about tickets, as you know, that's exactly what happened, we contacted him in the previous days, to buy tickets and even leave earlier for the tour (we have other comments here on TA congratulating us for that very reason), either by message or by WhatsApp and which ended up happening leaving earlier for the start of the tour. Our tours are private, we do not put any restrictions on the duration of our customers' visits, however they have a duration, we understand that you would like to extend the same, however this is not possible, as our guides have schedules. In conclusion, it seems to me that in this specific case, a shared tour would have had better results, because in this type of situation the guides are much more restricted in their schedules, with the tours being more busy, but the client sees (does not get to know) all of them. the locations described. In short, I feel a great injustice in your comment about our guide Elvira, who, as you describe, has a great knowledge in history and art.

Our guide was Bruno, and he went above and beyond to give us the most spectacular day we'll never forget. We had asked the tour company if they could personalize the tour for us to schedule lunch at one particular restaurant (Muchaxo) along the Atlantic Ocean in Cascais. They happily arranged everything, and Bruno's tour allowed us enough time to see the things we wanted to see, learn a lot about this scenic part of Portugal, and also be on-time for our lunch at Muchaxo. His patience and flexibility are so appreciated. Although we crammed a lot of fun into one tour, the pace never felt rushed, and there was still time to stroll around or do a bit of souvenir shopping. Bruno was the perfect host every step of the way. He gave us privacy for our lunch, but when he returned for us we were not quite ready to leave. He accepted our invitation to sit at the table and chat with the owner, and never gave the slightest indication that time was up and we had to leave. On the way back to Lisbon, we continued our conversation with Bruno from the restaurant, and he offered insightful comments that we, as foreigners, would never have thought of. As we arrived in Lisbon, he left us with some fabulous advice that we followed during the rest of our stay. Bruno made this day one of the very best we have EVER had while traveling. I can't thank him enough for his kindness, patience, flexibility, and expert guidance. This is one FABULOUS tour, and you may not forgive yourself if you don't take it.

This is the perfect tour if you have a stopover in Lisbon, or if you want to see as much as possible in one day. We were on a one day stopover (TAP Airlines) in Lisbon - arrive 9a depart next day at 10a - and wanted to see as much as we could in one day and still have some time to walk around downtown Lisbon and get a nice dinner. Our guide was Bruno, who was excellent. This tour is private, so you can design it as you wish, but we went mainly with the 'proposed' itinerary, as it covers a lot of what you would want to see in the area. We skipped one or two things, as we wanted to see a few things in Lisbon proper, so we added those to the end of the tour. Bruno was incredible. He's a certified guide (actually took classes on it), and has been doing tours for 10+ years. He was an absolute wealth of knowledge and history of everywhere we visited. Super-personable, as well. I would highly recommend this trip if you are looking to have a private experience to see as much as you can in the lower part of Portugal.

There were so many favorite parts, but I think Pena Palace was our favorite. Our guide, Bruno, was knowledgeable and companionable, and set a mutually agreeable pace for our day tour. Arriving early at Pena Palace, he avoided queues, got us on a nice tram for the steep uphill climb to Pena, and answered all our questions. A lovely lunch at a small shop down in the village was followed by a trip to Cascais and then off to Estoril. The sites were of course fabulous, but having Bruno beside us for the day was reassuring, full of enjoyable local stops, and just plain fun. He invited us to experience the world's best ice cream at Santini's, followed by a beautiful walk along the beach back to the van. We would recommend this full-day tour, and give the highest possible rating to Bruno!

The night before our tour, our tour guide Manuel contacted us to discuss the next day’s itinerary. This was extremely helpful as he helped us set our sightseeing priorities and expectations (we were originally overly ambitious as to the number sites we thought we could visit in one day). Manuel also purchased our admission tickets and made lunch reservations in advance of our tour day.

Despite cloudy skies and intermittent rain, Manuel made the entire experience enjoyable and educational. Our tour immediately started the moment we entered the tour van, as Manuel identified and discussed historical sites as we left Lisboa. Manuel made history come alive as he led us through Pena Palace, taking us from the 16nth Century through 1910. Moreover, Manuel kept our teens excited and engaged throughout the tour - balancing explanation with exploration. Having had a taste of Sintra, we knew we would be back.

We would highly recommend this tour and Manuel as your tour guide.

Manuel was an excellent guide! Informative, punctual, entertaining. He customised the tour to accommodate our every need. Fabulous story-telling of the history of Portugal and great knowledge of the Sintra, Cascais & Estoril regions. Manuel located & booked a lovely little restaurant for lunch that perfectly fitted our request as a family with teens.

Peña Palace was incredible - even more so with Manuel to personally guide us through. We also loved the gardens and the Chalet. We stopped in Sintra to try the local pastries and Manuel took us on a tour pointing out the many other palaces and telling us their history.

After a busy morning doing a lot of walking we chose to enjoy the coastal scenery & townships mostly from the car with Manuel informing us of the all the key features. We took the scenic route home along the river. Our last stop was at Belem for the most famous Portuguese tarts in Lisbon - Manuel was able to jump the incredibly long queue for these delicious treats.

We had a fabulous day and would highly recommend the trip!! Thank you Manuel!!

The whole day was very disappointing and certainly not worth what it cost. We initially drove to a palace near Sintra, waited some time in some confusion about tickets, eventually we paid for our tickets and then we left without visiting the palace. We then drove to Sintra which is enormously over rated and very busy with long lines to see the rooms and a very slow possession once you are in, with no facility to leave or reduce the time. We didn't stop for a morning coffee and then the driver wanted to leave us in Sintra (not lunch) before proceeding to the coast for a lunch break in a lovely little town but in the centre of tourist restaurants. Forget about a nice seafood lunch in a seafood restaurant. The driver was safe but his general knowledge of Portugal was poor. Overall not to be recommended.

Hello Mr. Peter. We are saddened by your comment. However, what we cannot control is the number of people who visit Sintra (Unesco World Heritage Site), especially in your case, as you know that your reservation was canceled and we had to make several changes so that we could receive you. When referring to the confusion in the tickets, this was due to Carlos' attempt to buy tickets (not included as stated in the description), in another place with fewer queues, a place that even with the tickets there will always be queues at the Pena Palace, which curiously is today on strike for lack of employees. Upon reading your comment, I feel that your dissatisfaction is due to the number of people visiting Portugal at the moment, which is due to the end of two years in which people had not traveled, and not so much to the tour. We hope it will give Portugal a new opportunity after this rush to tourism that we are "suffering" with the end of the pandemic. Many Thanks

        Adorable.

We wanted to thank Walkborder for this fantastic day.

Not even the crowds in Sintra, especially in the Pena Palace, did not spoil our day, which ended with a pastel de Belem already in Lisbon, after a beautiful trip along the Estoril coast.

        Highly recommend

This tour removes all the hassles of transportation and gave us a remarkable educational experience.
Elvira, our guide, contacted us the day before and advised us to purchase tickets to the Peña Palace online for the earliest possible tour. That alone saved us hours. Upon our arrival at Peña we walked up to the palace rather than ride the bus which allowed us to enjoy the gardens. We were able to walk straight into the palace and with Elvira at our side we saw and learned so much about the things around us. Not to mention we learned a lot of Portuguese history.
As we left the palace we could see that Elvira’s advice to arrive early had paid off. There was a line to get in that would take at least one hour to get through if not more.
From there we went to Cascais and then, at Elvira’s suggestion, we went to the royal summer palace, The National Palace of Queluz. What a treat, this was exceptional, there were probably a total of five other people in the entire place. I highly recommend a trip here to see the treasures of Portugal’s past.
All in all, I would say treat yourself to a day with Elvira. She was thoroughly professional and extraordinarily knowledgeable.
