Tomar and the spirit of the Templar

The Knights Templar day trip with Herlander was great, and something I was personally looking forward to the whole time. After a few day trips for the grandparents and the very young kids, being in Tomar was my time to indulge in one of my favourite pastime - Medieval history.

Herlander, as always was simply amazing during our one week tour around southern Portugal. Guiding us and explaining to us the significance of Tomar. During the tour, Herlander was a wealth on information and was able to help me understand the significance of Tomar. Though the kids and I did not find any “Templar gold” in and around Tomar, Herlander was very helpful in feeding us with the historical context and significance of Tomar.

Lunch at the city centre of modern day Tomar was lovely, with traditional Portuguese food. Throughout our entire trip Herlander was a walking food guide helping us find the best Portuguese food and sweets.

Herlander was also great with the kids and understood the the young ones needed to be entertained. He was also very accommodating and understood some of the difficulties dragging a four and a one-year old around.

Thanks very much Herlander and the team and premium tours.

Amazing tour - incredible history. The knights Templar is a must see and Carlos made it come alive with his great knowledge of history along with passion and excitement of sharing it.
Carlos took us to a local restaurant and we had the best suckling pig lunch.

Don't Miss This Tour! Exceptional Guides/tour possibilities!

We thoroughly enjoyed this amazing tour! Bernardo Garcia did an amazing job sharing his wealth of history and pesonal touches to make our tour a memorable experience. Don't miss out on this tour! So much history packed into the castles, towns, architectural influences over 400 years! I wish the tour was longer, it really is worth steeping in the history and beauty that exists after several hundred years. Tha Almourol Castle was interesting and the river boat that transported us to the island had us in waiting in anticipation of what lied ahead. The little village of Constancia is quaint, then you move along to Tomar where there is a lot of small shops and restaurants with a large square (Sundays tours there are maybe half a dozen places open in Tomar so we would suggest visiting on other days if possible.) We ended our tour at the castle which was OUTSTANDING! Bernardo shared more of his history knowledge and answered questions, we were amazed at all we saw! Definitely worth a visit, hope to go back, we would love to spend some more time viewing the splendor of Portugal and it's rich history! Portugal Premium Tours was professional, easy to email and obtain information regarding possible trips until we decided on the tours that were right for us. The vehicle that we had was comfortable, had water, and wifi connectibility. Highly highly recommend this tour company! Well worth the money and expertise!
