Miguel was an amazing, guide, host and instructor. I learned a lot on the course and the time flew by. It was the best money I have spent on photography it was worth every euro. I would definitely recommend the course regardless of your level of expertise. It helped me with both subject matter and composition but also my philosophy and approach. I would do another workshop with Miguel and Aperture Tours if I have the opportunity.

My wife and I met Cecile, our expert guide and photography mentor, in the Alfama area of Lisbon. We sat down and went over the basics of my experience, and they are basic, and what I wanted to learn. We then proceeded to walk for the next four hours through beautiful neighborhoods with great photography opportunities. She helped me understand how to compose city shots, along with the most important facets of the camera settings that will give the best results for artistic photos. I will use Aperture again. Cecile was great, the experience was great.

The photo tour of Lisbon with Cecile was my third Aperture Tour. Again, it was such a privilege to be tutored by a professional photographer while touring landmark sites. Cecile guided me (and my non-photographer friend) through the Alfama area, pointing out opportunities for architectural, landscape and street photography. She quizzed me on my photographic interests and experience, and helped with some exposure glitches. I was able to capture a pretty reasonable "yellow tram" photo, much to my delight. Thanks Cecile.

We had a great experience with Cecile Lopes from Aperture Tours in Lisbon. It is such a great way to see the city and you will definitely find some places you wouldn’t have wandered to on your own. We started the day over a coffee to understand my level of photography experience and what I wanted to accomplish for the day. She gave outstanding tips, and took time to compose different shots with me. We both were shooting Canon so she took the time to compare settings and images, she lent me one of her filters to try a few different effect and we even swapped lenses for a few shots. I’d highly recommend Aperture and Cecile!

3 of us booked the double photo tour of Lisbon and thought it was great. Miguel was our tour guide, a professional photographer, and offed great suggestions. He asked us if there was anything specific we wanted to photograph and he made sure we got all our photos. I highly recommend Aperture Tours.

A friend and I booked a photography tour thru Aperture Tours for two different cities we visited during our European vacation; Lisbon, Portugal, and Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I am fairly new to digital photography, at least from a "more than point and shoot" perspective. My friend had used different photography tour companies during previous trips, and told me he thought I would not only enjoy the tour, as it shows you a city from a more "camera" perspective than a "tourist" one, and that I would probably also gain experience and improve my photographic skills from a technical level. He could not have been more correct. A day or two prior to our scheduled tour, I received an email from Aperture Tours, asking to confirm the details of the tour, verifying the meeting place for the tour, and providing contact information for our guide. In Lisbon, we were led by Cecile Lopes, who was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire tour both entertaining and educational. At the beginning of the tour, we had a brief discussion about our goals for the morning... Cecile listened as I described my photographic experience level, and my interest in gaining her assistance in improving my photography from a technical level (helping to understand better how F-Stop, Shutter Speed, ISO, etc, affect a photograph). The time seemed to fly by, and I believe I took some of the best photographs I have ever taken. In short, I would highly recommend Aperture Tours, and will use their services again when I am a city where they operate.

This was my fourth city with Aperture Tours. My guide, Miguel introduced me to different aspects of photography that I had previously considered challenging and helped me truly understand them. It wasn't an overload of information either, I took away enough from both the day and night sessions that I can now incorporate them independently. I came back with so many memorable shots and I can't wait to display. In addition to his photography skills, Miguel also happens to know the city very well. We were able explore multiple areas that were off the beaten path. I highly recommend Aperture Tours and especially Miguel for the Lisbon workshop.

This is my second aperture tour. The first was in Paris. I did both day and night tours with Vera. She is an amazing photographer/guide and is very down to earth. I highly recommend this experience to amateur and advanced amateur photographers.

This was my first experience with Aperture Tours as well as my first time in Lisbon. I thought of myself as an advanced amateur photographer and was hoping the instructor would help me find places within Lisbon that I would not normally go. Vera absolutely did that. She took me to Alfama and while she had definite places to go, she asked what attracted me to a visual scene and then asked me to explain why it was attractive. This pushed me to come up with a reason for the photograph as well as describe the result I wanted. Then I was asked to tell her the f stop, shutter speed, aperture to achieve the result. This also pushed me to use manual mode exclusively and the result was an excellent image. So very much worth it even though the session was cut short because if rain.

I had taken a tour before with Aperture Tours in London, so when I decided to travel to Lisbon I sought them out again, and I wasn't disappointed. I knew that Lisbon was a stunning city and I wanted to make sure my images reflected that. I'm an advanced amateur photographer, and always looking for new tips and advice on how to make my photography better and the advice I got really helped my development. We started in Alfama where I got to play around with slow shutter motion blur of the quaint Lisbon trams before being let through a labyrinth I am sure I could not have navigated without by myself. We worked out way past the Lisbon Cathedral and finally ended up downtown as the sun was setting for a spectacular finish and a card full of beautiful memories. I couldn't recommend Aperture Tours highly enough.
