Amazing tour of Sintra and Cascais with an amazing guide
This was the highlight of our trip. We selected this tour because we wanted a small group. We lucked out with it being low season and it was just the two of us and our guide, Ines. She was so wonderful and knowledgeable. She really made us feel so welcome and comfortable and tried to point out all of the important sights and details. Sintra and Cascais are absolutely beautiful and I am so glad we chose this tour!

Great tour with an awesome guide
Our guide was incredible. She took the time to explain everything she was incredibly knowledgeable. She would ask us if you wanted to stay a little bit longer in some places or not. It was an incredible day

    Portuguese "Whitewash"
My tour of Sintra and Cascais on 17 Nov 2023 with tour group ‘Lisbon Riders’ was near perfection! Our tour guide was professional, knowledgeable, personable, and well communicated her concern for each of us by repeatedly asking and cautioning; “. . . anybody need a break, be careful walking on our tile walkways, etc. . . .” Moreover, our tour guide was an excellent communicator and her pride in her Portuguese heritage became obvious through the passion she exudes while recounting Portuguese history. And there-in lies the rub. In near 8 hours of her colorful and often detailed oral recounting of Portuguese history, she never once mentioned or alluded to Portugal’s 🇵🇹 early and prominent role in the trans-Atlantic slave trade! I believe when history is retold accurately . . . it is neither good or bad, it is just history! When people “whitewash” or “sugar coat” history it turns real history into the genre of historical fiction; thereby rendering a dis-service to past, present, and future generations. For this reason alone, I give an otherwise fantastic tour . . . only 3 of 5 stars. regrettably, ReggieH Los Angeles, CA P.S. I did chat with our tour guide about my issue after the tour. First, she let me know I was telling her "nothing" about Portuguese history she did not already know! Afterwards, I left with the impression present-day Portuguese culture prefers sharing with visitors this Portuguese “whitewash” history vs. real Portuguese history.

Even thought it was a rainy day, our tour guide Carolina kept us in the loop and ran a great tour. It was fun and informative.

    Tour of the towns!
A great tour of three beautiful locations. Carolina was an excellent host providing insight at each location. Fatima is a must see! Obidos is a beautiful quaint little fort town. Extremely picturesque! A shot of ginja in a chocolate cup is a must! Nazaréen is awesome as well!

A must-do tour, and hope Tania is your guide!
Tania from Lisbon Riders was our guide and she was AMAZING! So knowledgeable about all things Portugal, all things Sintra. She was also so friendly, entertaining all our questions, all our topics! Sintra is such a magical place, it's best to have a great guide so you get the serious, historical, important info. If you're lucky enough to get Tania, you'll be in very good hands. By the way, based on the info she gave us, my wife and I went back to Sintra the next day (via train from Lisbon) to visit other sites she suggested and wow! was it worth it.

Another Great Experience with Lisbon Riders
I am a US based Travel Advisor, and I brought a small group to Lisbon. I had used Lisbon Riders on previous trips and was very please with my past Tours. On this trip, we did a 1-day Lisbon City Tour, and a 1-day Sintra/Cascais Tour, both with Tania. Everyone raved about the Tour, and Tania's outstanding knowledge of the sights that we saw. Extremely happy dealing with Manuel, one of the owner/guides, and Tania.

Highlight of my trip to Portugal
This tour was honestly amazing! As a first time solo traveller I was a bit nervous about choosing the right trip/company, but I couldn’t have been any happier with Lisbon Riders and specifically our guide, Tania! She was so knowledgeable, caring and keen to share everything about Portuguese culture. She also offered recommendations for things to do/see in Lisbon, and she answered any questions we had, making us all feel at ease and relaxed on our trip. The views and places we visited were spectacular, and it was a full day of exploring different things, with the culmination of the day being the Pena Palace. We also had a bit of time to do our own thing in Sintra and Cascais (with tips from Tania), which again was a perfect blend between making the most of a guided tour whilst also having some freedom. Tania was not only a fantastic driver, but a great photographer too as she offered to take great pictures of us throughout the day. I could’t recommend this tour enough, have a great day when you go to Sintra!

Professional, well organized, customer focused-- and Carolina is the best!
Fabulous tour Fatima/Nazarre/Obidos with Carolina, she is so knowledgeable, warm and professional and really makes sure she is taking care of everyone. We saw so much in one day without ever feeling rushed and each destination was interesting- just the right amount of time. Lunch was a highlight, Carolina recommended several restaurants and we picked what we liked (sitio dos Petiscos in Nazarre, exceptional seafood rice), so much better than our Air bnb tour the day before that took us to an overpriced restaurant with awful food and kept egging everyone on to order more. For us, getting out of Lisbon for a day and seeing each of these sites briefly was the right call, I would not have wanted to stay longer at any but was happy to see all of them them. I strongly recommend Lisbon Riders for a well organized tour with a professional staff, and only wish I had taken them for the Sintra tour vs. Airbnb tours which rushed us uphill in oppressive heat and took advantage of us by steering us to an overpriced tourist trap restaurant.

This was a fantastic tour! Carolina our guide was awesome. So friendly, knowledgeable and fun to spend the day with her. We had a small group which made the tour so much more personalized. Top-notch, excellent tour with Tania
This was a wonderful day. Our tour guide Tania was top notch & the sights & experiences were excellent. We had a small group of 8 participants from around the world and enjoyed getting to interact with everyone. A perfect mix of beautiful sights, group activities & free time to explore. A wonderful memory. Thank you to Tania for a special day.

The tour was fantastic: stunning views of the coast, fascinating historical sites, simply delicious food in Sesimbra—but the real tour de force was Tania.

With focus, care, and humor, Tania made the trip easy for a long day of touring some of Southern Portugal’s most delightful sights. Tania remembered everyone’s name in the tour group. If there is an apocalypse, I’d want Tania behind the wheel—what a magnificent driver! Sesimbra has incredibly tight roads and I bet Tania could’ve got us through the town with her eyes closed. She led the wine tasting and offered very specific details about the vineyard along with more context about wine and grapes. Her knowledge of the sites and history is remarkable! We went from learning about early modern fortresses and recent archeological finds to the filming of a Madonna music video. What a leaner’s delight. All and all, Tania was so lovely and made the trip absolutely incredible.
Thank you for this experience! -I &K

Our day started out in a comfortable van driving west toward the coast. With Carolina as our safe driver, we rode and observed all that passed by while listening to her tell us about the history of the areas we were going to visit and about the agriculture and country exports as well. We had lunch in the seaside fishing village of Sesimbra, right along the Atlantic, and then had free time to walk around the charming hilly town before we heading up the nearby mountains to look at a convent nestled in the hills of Arrábida, a national park. Later, we drove down to the town of Setúbal for our very complete and delicious white & red wine tasting at a quaint winery -- Quinta de Alcube.

It was a very full day, but not at all long, filled with delicious food, drink and Portuguese history, told by no one better than Carolina herself. She gave us an unforgettable experience and I cannot recommend her and Lisbon Riders enough to anyone reading this post. Thank you, Carolina!

This was our absolute favorite day trip while in Portugal. Tania (our local guide) was so engaging and shared her passion for the area. She was so welcoming and genuinely was interested in learning about us individually. We enjoyed our fellow travelers so much; 8 people total. Small and intimate. Perfect group size.

Sesimbra and the Arrabida area is stunning. Nature, sun, gorgeous viewpoints, wine, engaging conversation. A perfect day for us : )

Highly recommended. We hope to return and do more day trips with Lisbon Riders.

The entire tour was WONDERFUL but the best part was the wine tasting at the picturesque Quinta De Alcube winery. Our tour guide Nunu was extremely knowledgeable on the wines and also on the history of the areas we visited. A much appreciated bonus was that the guides went out of their way to pick us up at a different location when our arrival was impacted by a train strike and we were unavoidably late. Also both guides spoke English very well and were genuinely interested in everyone of the 6 people in the group.

This was an excellent tour taking in the scenic Sesimbra Peninsula with a number of stops along the way and a great wine-tasting. Our guide Tanya provided a detailed and informative in-sight into the places visited and along the way, as well as into the Portuguese history. She was very engaging and made sure that our group felt well looked after. The size of the group (8 pax) was also a bonus. I really had a wonderful day and recommend this tour.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day on this tour and recommend it HIGHLY! Our tour guide, Carolina, was polite, humorous, informative, and very flexible. My sister and I sometimes suffer motion sickness in a car (and are a bit of "back-seat" drivers) and were a teeny bit concerned, but Carolina was an EXCELLENT driver. The first stop was at Cabo Espichel- beautiful but VERY windy. We visited the Sesimbra castle and were given time on our own in the fishing town of Sesimbra where we enjoyed lunch at Taverna Isaias and our tour mate, Marcel, learned how to eat real sardines (and not the ones from a can). We then drove through the Parque Natural de Arrábida (breathtaking views), and stopped for a picture (see below) before heading to Quinta do Alcube for wine tasting. A day well-spent and we won't hesitate to book another tour the next time we are in Lisbon; an excellent way to explore!

Really amazing day trip away to Setúbal, Sesimbra& Arrabida.

They did an excellent job with the organisation. Guide was very well informed and enjoyed his job. It was a perfect combination of facts and fun and it is suitable for all ages. I love castles and that is why I especially loved visiting Castelo de Sesimbra. Stop at Arrábida Monastery was also highlight of the day!

We definitely spent a perfect amount of time at each location and the choice of wines for wine tasting was nice touch to end perfect tour.

All in all highly recommended!!!

Many thanks to Lisbon Riders for our two wonderful small-group tours that included Sintra/Cascais and Sesimbra/Arrábida Wine Tasting. I like to support small businesses and travel with local companies that know the ins and outs of all the places, and Lisbon Riders is such a company. Manuel, our guide for the Sesimbra tour, is a real pro. Even before we arrived, Manuel was a pleasure to work with via email. While Lisbon has plenty of sights to see, we enjoyed getting off the beaten path to experience Portugal’s amazing coast (public transport won’t get you here either). The day finished with a delightful wine-tasting in a small local winery. Our group of 7 strangers chatted like old friends while tasting a selection of white and red wines. It was a beautiful day!

This was one of my favourite tours that I have done. It was really well put together, professional and knowledgeable throughout with unique insight into Portugal.

We got to see some parts of Portugal that we wouldn't have gone to. From Capo Espichel, Sesimbra, the glorious driving road up Arribida with the views across the Troia peninsula were spectacular.

The Wine tasting was at a family run vine yard and we got to taste through the wines of Portugal and purchase some unique bottles after :)

Also we were on a road trip though Portugal, some of the recommendations we were given like Pinhao in Douro Valley, and taking the coastal road on the West Coast into Sagres were invaluable.
