About
From Lisbon, you will go south by crossing the Tejo River by passing the Portuguese Golden Gate Bridge (25 of April Bridge). You will explore the south side of Lisbon (Arrabida, Sesimbra, Azeitão, and Espichel). Here you will enjoy beautiful beaches, frighteningly tall cliffs, an astonishing cape, a medieval well-preserved castle, a fishing village, a natural park, an abandoned monastery, and a local family-owned winery. The day will ends visiting vineyards and tasting 4 local wines. You will have an amazing and relaxing day away from the big tourist crowds.

What to expect
  • After meeting your guide and small group of no more than 8 people in central Lisbon, set out on the scenic journey to Cape Espichel. Admire the spectacular views along the Tagus River as you pass over the Portuguese Golden Gate Bridge, then continue south, watching as the urban landscape gives way to rolling hills and lush vineyards. Continue to the coast to explore the lively fishing town of Sesimbra, where you’ll have time to stroll the scenic beachside promenade, take in the views from the medieval Sesimbra Castle, and snap photos of the colorful fishing harbor. There will also be chance to enjoy lunch (own expense) at one of Sesimbra’s renowned fish restaurants. After lunch, drive through the idyllic landscapes of the Arrabida Natural Park, stopping to take in the views of the Arrabida Mountain and the sandy beaches along the coast. Hear how the region’s Mediterranean climate produces a huge variety of fresh produce as you journey past olive groves, chamomile and lavender plantations, and fields of strawberries, pistachios, and thyme. There’s just time for one more stop – at a family-owned vineyard nestled in the foothills of the mighty Arrabida Mountain. After indulging in the final wine tasting of the day, travel back to Lisbon, where your tour ends back in the city center.

Excellent guide Tânia drove 7 guests to several beautiful lookouts, a cool castle, the fun beach town of Sesimbra, and a winery for wine tasting. She was super informative, personable, and professional all at the same time. Highly recommended!

The entire tour was WONDERFUL but the best part was the wine tasting at the picturesque Quinta De Alcube winery. Our tour guide Nunu was extremely knowledgeable on the wines and also on the history of the areas we visited. A much appreciated bonus was that the guides went out of their way to pick us up at a different location when our arrival was impacted by a train strike and we were unavoidably late. Also both guides spoke English very well and were genuinely interested in everyone of the 6 people in the group.

Many thanks to Lisbon Riders for our two wonderful small-group tours that included Sintra/Cascais and Sesimbra/Arrábida Wine Tasting. I like to support small businesses and travel with local companies that know the ins and outs of all the places, and Lisbon Riders is such a company. Manuel, our guide for the Sesimbra tour, is a real pro. Even before we arrived, Manuel was a pleasure to work with via email. While Lisbon has plenty of sights to see, we enjoyed getting off the beaten path to experience Portugal’s amazing coast (public transport won’t get you here either). The day finished with a delightful wine-tasting in a small local winery. Our group of 7 strangers chatted like old friends while tasting a selection of white and red wines. It was a beautiful day!

This was one of my favourite tours that I have done. It was really well put together, professional and knowledgeable throughout with unique insight into Portugal.

We got to see some parts of Portugal that we wouldn't have gone to. From Capo Espichel, Sesimbra, the glorious driving road up Arribida with the views across the Troia peninsula were spectacular.

The Wine tasting was at a family run vine yard and we got to taste through the wines of Portugal and purchase some unique bottles after :)

Also we were on a road trip though Portugal, some of the recommendations we were given like Pinhao in Douro Valley, and taking the coastal road on the West Coast into Sagres were invaluable.

Really amazing day trip away to Setúbal, Sesimbra& Arrabida.

They did an excellent job with the organisation. Guide was very well informed and enjoyed his job. It was a perfect combination of facts and fun and it is suitable for all ages. I love castles and that is why I especially loved visiting Castelo de Sesimbra. Stop at Arrábida Monastery was also highlight of the day!

We definitely spent a perfect amount of time at each location and the choice of wines for wine tasting was nice touch to end perfect tour.

All in all highly recommended!!!

We took this trip a few days ago. The weather was amazing. The trip took us to Santuaria do Cabo Espichel, Castles near Sesimbra, the town of Sesimbra, drive across Arrabida mountains and Quinta de Alcube Winery. I was surprised on how good this tour ended up being. My teen and her friend loved it too. Our guide, Tania ( who has been with this group for 19 years) was very personable and informative. She gave us an historical perspective to all the sights. I love history and we hear so much about the Royals, etc., it was very interesting to hear about Portuguese history. The views from Arrabida mountains was beautiful. The winery was a surprise. It’s in a valley and the views again were beautiful. The wines were beyond par for their value. This was one of the best tours I’ve ever been on. Very well organized with an awesome guide (Tania).

Carolina and Nuno were our tour guides (two adult children and me) and we had such a wonderful time! We visited some beautiful historical sites, as well as an amazing winery! We had an incredible lunch of very fresh fish! And when we got caught in the rain, we ducked into a little café they knew about and had a wonderful coffee and regional treats! Our guides were simply amazing! They made our day so much fun – my children are still talking about it, and the other 2 children who didn’t go with us on this tour, are just a little jealous!
