About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Dan_Gillespie12340 contributionsGreat value, and a great way to see Lisbon! We chose this tour because we wanted to experience an overview of the city by riding around. We got that, and a lot more. The explanations that were provided during the tour were very informative, and we were able to hop off and visit the sights that interested us as we got to them. The boat ride was relaxing and beautiful, and we really enjoyed that. When we bought the tickets we were informed that they also gave us access to public transport. This was unexpected, but it was very convenient and useful! Not only did this allow us to ride on the famous historic #28 streetcar, and funiculars, but we could just jump on any of the busses/trams as we moved around the city. We loved our Yellow Bus tour and felt like it was well worth the price!Written September 17, 2024
- Riskowitz0 contributionsUnhappy and disappointed when doing the river cruise due to tour guide and sales girlWe bought a 48 hour ticket for the yellow bus and boat cruise. The bus was very nice and far more informative than the #Grayline in Porto. When we went on the cruise we were standing in the hot sun queueing for about 40 minutes before they allowed people to board. By this time there was a very long queue. About 15 minutes before boarding a tour arrived and when boarding started they said we should wait for the tour to board first. There is no signage saying that so I told them “NO!!!” Or refund my money now!! The tour guide had me by the arm pushing me until I told him not to touch me. (I am a woman in my late sixties) and this is the respect he showed. Everyone in the queue was very angry and the man in front of me in the queue said as a senior, he will not give way for this young tour. So much unhappiness to the extent that it seemed a fight would breakout. The captain then told the tour guide everyone should board at the same time.Written September 15, 2024
- Lorievan0 contributionsAWFULThis was the worst hop on hop off bus I have ever been on. I had a ticket for 2 days and went on the first leg but never went on again because the quality was so poor. The sound quality was bad and was not synced to what I was seeing. The narration was so poor, I learned nothing about the city. I asked for a refund but was denied.Written September 10, 2024
- elainew6680 contributionsVery disappointing experience, would not recommendVery disappointing experience. The boat was very rundown and scruffy, the snack was very small and consisted of mostly olives - most of those went into the bin. The glass of wine was very small and when we bought a second glass it was expensive at €5 for a small glass. We were late leaving, we spent a good 15-20 minutes stationary before pulling into Belém for an unscheduled stop. Then it took 3 attempts to get docked when we arrived back at the start. Nothing was said but maybe the boat had a problem? The sax player was good, but not our preferred style of music. Overall an expensive evening for a mediocre experience, would not recommend.Written September 2, 2024
- W9634DDsharont0 contributionsGreat tour, but some pickup spots tricky to findThis route was just perfect for us to get to Belem and explore the area. The live schedules feature was helpful for planning. We weren't clear on where to get the bus at the start of our day (Marques de Pombal); we thought it would be at the same place where the red buses load. After waiting a while, I asked an agent from the red bus tours and she pointed out that we weren't waiting in the correct pickup spot. Locations could be noted more clearly on the site map (same for the Monastery pickup). Once we got on the bus though, it was a lovely tour with informative commentary!Written September 2, 2024
- Odindog0 contributionsGood way to learn about LisbonThe first part off the trip from the cruise port was so dull, I thought I'd made a mistake booking this trip. We got off in the square for refreshments before boarding the blue line. This was so much more enjoyable and good commentary too. All in all I would recommend using this tour if in Lisbon as a good way to get around and learn about the city while doing so.Written August 29, 2024
- RulaL_130 contributionsAvoid at all costs. A huge waste of time. One of, if not THE worst tour of my life. We took the blue line from the cruise port to meet up to the smaller green line. It was over an hour of wasted time. The blue line seems purposely designed to take you everywhere in Lisbon that you never wanted to see: industrial areas, abandoned, ruined buildings, soulless, newly built suburbs, a freeway, and you nearly make it to the airport before finally reaching the historical center. Oh, and it took nearly an hour to finally depart as the driver was doubling as the ticket seller and each transaction took forever. He did finally drive off but pulled over again to argue with someone on his cell phone about the receipts, until enough of us complained and we eventually got underway. If we had known what awaited us, we’d have been in no hurry. Save your money, and more importantly your time, and get a tuk tuk or find literally any other means to explore Lisbon. This is NOT the way to go.Written August 27, 2024

- michaelfH7530SN0 contributionsDon’t expect to learn much on this tourThe audio portion of this tour was extremely short. There was so much time to tell about buildings, neighborhoods, tourist, sites, history! Anything that would be interesting to someone in their first time here in Lisbon. 99% of the time you got to hear Portuguese music, drowning on interrupted only a handful of times with some history about what you are seeing on the tour We’ve done many hop on hop off tours, and most of them are very enlightening, educational, and interesting. This was anything but the aboveWritten August 23, 2024

- BlackKnight580 contributionsExcellent overview of Lisbon, but …The bus tour(s) gave us an excellent overview of the city. The only thing that we were not happy about was that we were waiting 1h for the tram 28 and then we were thrown off halfway so we walked to a Yellow Bus stop to get back. We probably could have been waiting at the tram stop but wasn’t sure if we could find space on it going backWritten July 17, 2024

We bought48 hour passes for three bus lines and the boat from Belem to Lisbon for 2 for 78 euros.
From the start we could not find any of the stops. They are poorly marked, if at all and are not identified with any specific address on the map provided. We searched for over an hour for 3 of the stops and finally saw a bus and ran after it.
The buses are all red and do not clearly identify which line they are on the outside of the bus.
Competing lines also run red buses.
Once on board, the stops are only identified via the recorded tour available through earplugs. If you took out the plugs you would not know you were at a stop. The drivers should also announce them! On that note the drivers are really not helpful in responding to questions.
Once on board we felt we did not dare “hop off” as the buses really did not follow the posted schedule. On that note, the posted schedules are available only if you drill down 3 levels and are infinitely small to read without “blowing them up”. There is no posted schedule for the boat. The ticket sellers had to write the schedule on the map. I was told that the drivers would convert my voucher to a ticket but none of them knew how.
The line we took unexpectedly ended at stop one and we had to switch buses and wait 1/2 hour for the next one. At least while waiting I was able to convert my voucher to an actual ticket.
On a good note, once on the buses the tours and the piped in voice guide were good and the boat ride was fun.
However for 78 euros you could enjoy at least ten Ubers to wherever you want to go. Save your money and aggravation and take an Uber.

Having done bus tours in every city we visit, we booked the yellow bus as an orientation trip round the city, and an opportunity to see more distant sites that are passed through on the routes. there are two main bus routes, blue and purple. Blue takes you around the older city, including Belem and was, in my opinion, the better of the two. The purple route takes you out to the Parc day Nacoes, an interesting area based around an EXPO type development. Unfortunately access is via fairly long and non descript route. If you are only doing a single route, blue would be my advice. The ticket includes access to the 4 Funiculars - very handy in such a hilly city, a ride on the old public trams ( not hop on, hop off, but well recommended, and use of the Santa Just a lift offering great views across the city, but often the queues are lengthy. Also includes the river tour.
Overall good value and recommended

We paid €27 each for the hop on bus from Lisbon cruise terminal this morning. We were directed to the wrong bus having chosen the red line &;questioned this however were assured we were on the right bus. As soon as we moved off the commentary said we were on the blue line! The information then stopped with only music coming through the earpiece. Several people complained & we were told we could get off later & change buses. We travelled for 30 mins through rundown flats & shops with graffiti over most of the buildings. We eventually gave up and left the bus with no clue where we were. Funnily enough the desks selling the tickets at the cruise terminal had packed up when we're got back........ a complete waste of time & money. Be careful & ask questions before buying a ticket

It was absolutely excellent! Booked the 96 hour package. After so many mixed views for hop hon hop off buses we chose the one run by the Lisbon Transport Company and it was the right choice! Frequent buses and they were right on time. Often saw transport staff waiting and checking their times at stops. With mobility issues I was so happy that I could just trade in our online voucher at the Yellow Bus stop right by our hotel to get our ticket. We did not have to go to either a kiosk or a tour start area. Very easy and quick and no questions about our ticket for the four days. We saw very few Gray Line buses and City Sightseeing buses in comparison to the Yellow Buses we used. We paid 155 Euros for two and booked the service in Canada. The service was so efficient that we did not need the 96 hour package but it made it easy for us to take lines and transport again to get back out to museums for visits and tours. Headphones and narration were good. 13 Languages to choose from and they played Fado music in between the station itineraries. We used the trams to get to some tour spots off the main bus loops. Wonderful experience in a beautiful, friendly city! Thank you to the Yellow Bus Tour Company for making our trip to enjoyable. Congratulations on a job well done in providing a terrific service to tourists. Take pride in what you do and thank you to your drivers who were helpful with directions.

We enjoyed all 3 tours that we took, our favourite being the red tram hills tour. It's a good saving when you book the ticket online and it's easy to collect your physical ticket from the yellow bus kiosk. The tours give you the opportunity to see many aspects of Lisbon. The audio on the bus tours is interesting and very informative. The red tram driver was friendly and knowledgeable and took the time to give us interesting facts about the area and about the tram itself. The boat tour was very relaxing and gave great views of the city and the River Tagus, again with information given about the key sites on the trip.
We also used our ticket to take a ride on one of the funiculars and on the Santa Justa lift. All in all, great value and well worth it for a city break in Lisbon.

The buses absolutely do not run every 20 minutes as advertised. Plan to wait close to an hour at each stop. Do the red bus tour instead, there are many more of them. It got to the point where we were afraid to get off at the stops because we didn’t want to spend another hour standing around waiting at the bus stop.

I gave this 5 stars because compared to what else is available this was the best. Not as nice as some other “Hop-On/Hop-Off” tours I’ve done but I still recommend it as a starting point for your time in Lisbon. The bus has some stops you could get off at. But the Hills tour on the tram did not. Just be aware it will not take you to St. George’s Castle. You use headphones for the bus and tram and select the language you prefer. The boat just announces comments on a loud speaker and repeats it in several languages and it was hard to hear what they said on the upper deck very nice not to have to wait in a line for tickets! Still a nice sitting-down tour that gets you acclimated to the city (which is what I think these kind of tours excel at).

The time frames for intervals between bird is supposed to be 20 minutes. We routinely experienced waits over an hour long. Their app showing where the buses are currently and when they should arrive at your stop were wrong most of the time. The worst issue is that they don’t announce the upcoming stop and if no one on the bus has pressed the stop button, they do not stop! So if you are waiting to be picked up at a stop where no one on the bus has pressed stop, they will drive right past you. Lastly, the lower enclosed portion of the bus is not air conditioned or even has fans. It gets extremely hot on these buses. We noticed the the Red line buses ran much more frequently and kept to their advertised schedules. We are trying cancel our remaining Yellow bus tickets in Seville, Madrid and Barcelona. Really has been the worst part of our trip.

We took both lines, Modern Lisbon & Belem. As we have already got the Lisbon cards, we had a 10% discount for Hop On-Hop off and free access to Tram28. It was a great tour and we could discover both Old town and modern Lisbon. The ticket was valid 48 hrs, so we had 2 days of free bus walking through Lisbon.

It’s right in the centre there’s a big square in the modern part. It’s not hard to get lost in Lisbon. All streets lead down to the sea. Our hotel gave us a map but we found it really easy finding our way around.
