- YasLondon0 contributionssintra visit and palace not to be missedOur tour guided driver was really great. collected us from our hotel and we were a very small group which was great. Told us lots of places of interest and historical context along the way.. we went through this beautiful mountain village of Sintra, our tour started through the gardens, i would call it a forest. It was great starting point very beautiful and leads up invitingly to the palace without feeling too steep otherwise. there were little lakes and lots of beautiful trees, shrubs and greenery all spread out across and up could spend some more hrs there. We didnt have to queue anywhere . Palace has lots of history to tell and was interesting. we met our guide aft the palace visit and drove us down to the centre of Sintra. we went to a little cafe he recommended and also to the pastry shop before we left. we had some time to wander and explore after which we drove and climbed another mountain to a point Cabo de Roca Cape reminded me of 'Lands End' , nice viewpoint. We drive down the the beachtown of Cascais, so pretty and had a wander around and got some super delicious gelato which our driver recommended. now i remember his name Noona! would recommend this excursion not to be missed. excellent service all round. thanks for a memorable trip - Yasmin & ZaynabWritten October 6, 2024
- Sheree V0 contributionsIncredible full day with Joao to Pena Palace, Sentra and Cascais !!Joao was fantastic! He picked us up at our accommodations and was a great driver while giving pointing out places of interest and the history and back story of the the locations we visited . His English and French language skills are solid. We took the coast on the way to the Pena Palace. After we parked we took a beautiful walk through Pena Park up to the actual castle. Did not see many guides taking you to the park surrounding the palace and this should not be missed! Of course we walked right passed the line to tour the palace . Afterwards we went down to Sintra for lunch . Then drove to the Cabo de Roca Cape to see the point before a stop at a quaint beach town Cascais which was lovely ! I highly recommend Joao and this tour !Written October 2, 2024
- emmakZ2338FR0 contributionsSintra and Cabo da Roco did not disappoint! We had booked this tour several weeks in advance. Unfortunately, the threat of wildfires in Portugal that week caused the Pena Palace to be closed. We were made aware of this situation, told of the alternate plan, and given the chance to cancel. We went ahead and did the tour and are so glad we did. We saw the National Palace of Sintra instead and got to have lunch on the coast rather than in Sintra. Our guide, Tiego, was FABULOUS - he really utilized our driving time to share so much history and other information. We were a bit disappointed about the Pena Palace closure, but Around Lisbon did their best to provide a great tour for our group. Loved the stops at Cabo da Roca and Cascais.Written September 29, 2024
- 665roryo0 contributionsFelipe… Full-Day Tour Best of Sintra and Cascais from LisbonWe did this excursion and had the best time exploring different areas of Portugal. Felipe was a great guide and a very safe driver. He took us to all the areas we wanted to see and even added a few making extra time for our requests. Highly recommended this trip and even more so if you can get Felipe!Written September 27, 2024
- W3256ZDjuanu0 contributionsPerfect dayWhat an amazing day. Our guide picked us up, taught us so much about our stops, and gave us plenty of time at each place. The palace, Sintra and Cascais were all wonderfulWritten September 23, 2024

- jasonbR3298UA0 contributionsBeautiful sights, scenes, food and entertainment. Nuno was an awesome guide! This might be a little bit of a different review as some wildfires prevented us from seeing the Peña Palace. Let me assure that it was an excellent excursion even without one of the major highlights. Sintra was a beautiful village to wander through, many little shops to duck your head into and have a look around. We toured the Sintra Palace (in place of the Peña palace) and it was quite extraordinary in its own right. We continued our tour from Sintra along to the coast where we stopped at apple beach, near Colares where we had excellent food and a while to walk along the beach. The from there to Cascais was beautiful along mountainsides, over valleys and next to the coast. Cascais was also beautiful, we had some time to walk through and stop for a snack, would recommend returning to spend some time on the very unique beaches along its coastline. To top it all off, our tour guide, Nuno was top notch! Funny, engaging and full of knowledge he kept us engaged the whole drive from place to place and was as good as it gets for a tour around the Sintra and Cascais.Written September 20, 2024
- shelleytQ7982VE0 contributionsGreat day, highly recommend! We saw beautiful areas on this tour! Our host, Sergio, was wonderful and informative. Communication after booking was great. We enjoyed our day and recommend this company and tour!Written September 19, 2024
- weissfamily1000 contributionsSintra made easy and fun!Oriana was EXCELLENT. She was extremely knowledgeable about everything - the palace, the gardens, the history, the towns...even areas unrelated to the tour. She made the visit super easy and enjoyable. Highly recommend!Written September 17, 2024
- T9873AKwilliama0 contributionsTime SqueezedThe palace is beautiful, including the gardens. The time spent at the other locations (lunch time in Sintra was 90 minutes - no time to shop; the time in Cascaise was 30 minutes; the time at Cabo de Roca was 15 minutes). Suggest lengthening the tour by 1-2 hours to fit everything in. Also "historical villages" is overstated: only saw the tourist shopping districts.... "gorgeous scenery" was too short to even walk around. On the plus side, happy to have been picked up at our VRBO. "Visit Sintra, Cabo da Roca, and Cascais on a small-group tour from Lisbon that explores the Pena National Palace UNESCO World Heritage Site, historic villages, and the gorgeous scenery of Portugal's coast. Group size is limited to eight people to ensure personal service from the guide, and the tour includes all entrance fees, as well as convenient pickup and drop-off at hotels in Lisbon."Written September 14, 2024
- Q2784AIhelenc0 contributionsFabulous day trip Sintra, palace and CascaisWow what an absolutely fantastic day . Our guide/ driver Nuno was fantastic We were picked up at 9 a.m and got back to our drop off at 6.20 .Everything about our day was spot on . I would highly recommend this tour. Remember comfortable shoes and maybe a light jacket for walking through the shady gardens leading to the palaceWritten September 13, 2024
- Curiosity207267931100 contributionsSights and tastes experience! Our guide, Diogo Ignacio was wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. He introduced us to some of the fabulous cuisine of Portugal. As an added bonus he shared his knowledge of photography and showed us to some incredible hot spots to enhance our photographic experience around Sintra.Written September 12, 2024
- joyfultraveller980 contributionsA beautiful dayWhat a beautiful day with Nuno our knowledgeable, enthusiastic , easy to talk to guide. Sintra is a must see attraction and skipping the line to get into the Palace is a great help. The walk through the gardens adds to the magical charm of the tour. The afternoon drive along the coast is breath taking and it's a kick to stand at the western most point in Europe.Written September 11, 2024

The guide provided by the company is very friendly and well mannered. However there ends all the good things. She doesn't have enough knowledge of history nor the proficiency in English to explain the History of Lisbon. All our questions were answered by "I really do not know, I need to check". The history tour started with the Roman period, coming through the Moors. However it was not structured thereafter. Not much home work was done.
On conversation we understand that this a third job for her to fill in the time and earn a few Euros.
We are thoroughly disappointed and feel cheated by this company who has engaged an inexperienced guide. I who booked this tour cut a sorry figure with the rest of the group (5) .
I would like the company to investigate and compensate us.

Dear John:
Thank you for your feedback.
We don't recognize the person you are trying to characterize, as we only have two women doing the Lisbon tour, and they both speak excellent English and are very knowledgeable in History.
However, I hope you are aware that there is probably no one that knows all the historic facts about Lisbon, as it simply is too complex and vast.
We would kindly ask you to please write us an email, so we can investigate, as suggested, and analyze any possible compensation.
Please add the tour date, so we can identify your booking.
Thanks in advance,
Around Lisbon Management

Our guide, David, was born and brought up in the heart of Lisbon and shared his love of the city in a delightful and informative way. We were introduced to the different eras of Lisbon’s past by visiting key sites in chronological order. It was an amazing tour!

We had David as our leader. He was prompt, though we had some troubles with the
minivan. We walked a good part of the old town and then went to Belem and the
Basilica which houses a large crèche which is somewhat hidden. A tasty highlight in Belem was the pasteis de Belem which is truly the best. Nice to see some sites that I may have not found. Went back to some places on our last day for more in depth
visits.

Our guide Raquel was fantastic. She showed us the sights and asked what we wanted to see. Took us to the Aquaduct and many other small interesting places around town. She was very friendly, knowledable and manouvered the streets and traffic well. We would liked to have spent more time with her roaming Lisbon and the surrounding areas. Would certainly book her again when we return to Lisbon for a longer stay

There were six of us on the tour - my wife and I and a family of four who were great to share this experience with. Our tour guide was knowledgeable (but, if there was one comment I might make, he should be willing to move a little more off-script. I actually have a fair amount of sailing experience and felt my comments on the nature of sailing ships were pretty unwelcome - small annoyance.)
Our weather did not cooperate; however, our guide was great in accommodating that and moved us along to venues where we could take shelter. The pastries that were included met all expectations in his build-up. They were off-the-charts good.
And, the absolute best part for me was the tour of the aquaduct. That was simply amazing. I think that if the weather had been a little more cooperative, I would have also enjoyed immensely the Belem Tower as well as the Discoveries Monument.
Again, highly recommended.

Such a pleasant, friendly and efficient small company, a joy to deal with. First contact was with Cláudia online, and she happy to tailormake a 5hr tour for 4pax, as we were coming from Porto for the day.
Booked "Brunch" cafe for breakfast as it just a few minutes walk from train station, it was excellent by the way, and "Around Lisbon" to pick us up from there.
David our guide for the day, arrived to the minute, in his brand new 8 seater, and WOW, what a fantastic day we had.
David, with impeccable English, gave us the most comprehensive guided tour of his beautiful city of Lisbon, his knowledge and passion for his city was infectious, and we recommend him, and his company, 100%.
We were treated to all the areas and sights a larger vehicle could not access, we had several inside visits and photostops and were treated by David to Lisbons famous custard tarts, delicious!!
Yes, "Around Lisbon" are true professionals, and deserve all the plaudits they receive for, their service and staff would be hard to beat!!
We look forward to meeting and touring with them again in the future.

Took the easy way out and booked a city tour rather than doing my research. Very glad I did - we went to places I probably wouldn't have made it to plus had helpful information from Luis, our guide. We started in Alfama with a view from an overlook, visited the cathedral, went to Belem, break for lunch, went to the elevator de Justa, cistern of the waters, Parque Eduardo VII, and probably other places I'm forgetting. Luis knew a lot of history and looked after our comfort, very helpful.

We were very lucky to have Nuno as our guide. Excellent knowledge of the city and buildings in particular. Nothing was too much trouble and he took us off the beaten track to see things we would have missed otherwise. Charming and interesting, we could not have asked for more on a day where the weather was against us. Nuno gave us a long tour and then jpined us for a drink afterwards - a real pleasure.

This was a fantastic and in-depth tour of the key sights in Lisbon and Belem by Filipe who has a palpable passion for his country's history and culture. I was particularly lucky as I was the only person on the tour so I could ask anything and the day just shot past with alll the interesting experiences and explanations, highly recommended.
