About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Gayle R0 contributionsThe best way to get around the City & to BelemThis is such an excellent way to experience Lisbon. You can cover so much in half a day. Definitely beats getting the train to Belem or getting a Segway/Escooter around the City. This is the way to travel!!! People will stare at you in awe and jealousy because it just looks so much fun!! I cannot recommend this activity enough. Rui & Maria were also so very helpful and patient with us (as we struggled to understand how to drive them 🤣) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Written February 22, 2022
- adamashton01080 contributionsGreat way to see lots of Lisbon in a unique wayA fun way to spend a few hours zipping around Lisbon in a Renault Twizzy. The driving is super easy, the sat nav is programmed to take all the stress out of directions and leaves you to enjoy the sights. Perfect route that gives enough time for stopping to see sights and grab a pastel de nata or 3. The ride is quite harsh and there is limited headroom in the back.Written November 16, 2021
- JenniferL70450 contributionsGreat Experience, fun & stress-free!Everything worked out perfectly, He was so nice explaining everything to us and the tour is great, stress- free, you choose where you want to stop and stroll around and where not. We stopped at the cyprus tree and tower of belem, ate the famous pastel de belem (yummy) and walked around Los Jeronimos. The car is so much fun and simple and easy to drive. Great way to check all the sightseeing off your list but stay independent and flexible and have fun. Great memory! Thank you!Written October 26, 2021
- PerrineAl0 contributionsFun, easy, quick, cheap, highly recommendedit's an amazing way to visit the city. the couple managing the place is extremely nice and friendly. The city has lots of designated parking spots for this kind of vehicules. Allows you to see a lot in the city in a short time while having fun! you decide how long you want to goWritten October 23, 2019
- Kazlet0 contributionsBrilliant way to see LisbonThis was such good fun. The tour reps were really helpful and explained how the routes work, places worth stopping etc. I was a little nervous but other drivers were really considerate and lots of people waved and smiled to see the cute little Renault Twizy. It’s very nippy and at no point did I feel at a disadvantage compared to other road vehicles. There’s no air con but it has open windows - very useful on a hot August day. Much more fun than hiring a standard small car and being electric it’s environmentally friendly. Highly recommended.Written August 20, 2019
- Melissa K0 contributionsTrip in LissabonThe most fun tour we ever did!! You see a lot and it’s so much fun to drive through Lissabon in a Twizzy. We were with 7 cars so it was really easy to see the city this way. Really recommend it!Written November 14, 2018
- jason98328740 contributionsSuperb!Great fun and a great way to see the sights. Really easy to drive, really easy to park and the GPS keeps you on track at all times. Super friendly staff explain everything you need before you set off.Written September 9, 2018
- chbrilland0 contributionsBest way to enjoy LisbonProbably one of the best way to discover the city.In 4 hours, we went to 5 differents miradors, in belem to see the tower, eat pasteis also in belem and take a walk to LX Factory. The team is great.Second time in Lisbon, and second time i do it. No doubt i'll do it again.Abrigado !Written September 6, 2018
- customerwhocares0 contributionsExcellent. Other tourists were jealous! This is a truly innovative and genius way to see the city. My partner and I were in Lisbon for one full day and used the eco tours for a quick stop tour of the city. The owners of the business are so kind and courteous. We paid for the Moorish (old town) tour but as we were only there for a day, they suggested we do the Belém tour too and programmed it in in case we wanted to do more. That tour cost more money but we only had to pay per hour for any additional time we wanted the car for. The sat nav talks to you as you go around the city and gives you information. The amazing things about the cars (Renault Twizzie) is that you can park almost anywhere and hop out to see the sites. Other tourists (often in tour guided tuk tuks) and tourists walking were taking photos of us and were jealous! Highly recommended for fun and practicality!Written September 2, 2018
- Jb1006940 contributionsThe best environment-friendly way to visit Lisbon! What an amazing experience! Super easy to drive, the GPS Audio Guide worked perfectly and because of its size, we were able to explore beautiful Lisbon and park the Twizy without any trouble! Ana and Rui are the kindest people and they will always assist you should you need anything.Written August 30, 2018
- Nelson F0 contributionsAmazing rideAmazing fun and enjoyful ride. Done it more than once, and recommend it to my frinends that already done the tour and loved it as well.Written August 30, 2018

- Magdalena K0 contributionsBest money spent in Portugal! Highly recommendIt was a truly lovely experience. Driving a car is so much fun plus you get to visit a beautiful city of Lisbon! The staff members were so nice and helpful. The best part is that the experience is an exeptionally good value for money. We will definitely come back here again!!!!Written June 27, 2018
- epsaff0 contributionsFun! Fun! Fun!We walked around Lisbon the first day we got here and our feet and legs were killing. Lisbon is full of steep hills. We saw two couples riding these electric cars and laughing their sides off. Asked them where they got them. We were very close to the shop so we stopped in and fortunately we booked it for the next day. Best thing we did. The managers Rui and Ana were very kind and patient. They explained how the car works slowly so we can do it on our own. The car is very easy to drive. Plus the GPS gives highlights and tips. We have no patience for long winded tour guides. The GPS gave us just the right amount of history we needed. Parking is free and sooo convenient. Belem is far from the city. Renting the car saved us if we took a taxi or uber. Book in advance. They only have seven carsWritten June 25, 2018
- bubbleandsqueeck0 contributionsFantastic tour and thanks by excellent service, it became our highlight of our visit! We took part in a cruise on the ms Koningsdam and we docked at the newest port facility: Jardim do Tabaco, located in the northern part of the city and it’s the closest to the city centre. Walking distance is 20 minutes to centre. As Lisbon is a large town and built over different hills (stunning views) along the lovely embankment parks and monumental buildings, we opted to rent a little car. There are also e-bikes or tuktuk services available or the large double decker busses Hopon/off. As the city centre has many narrow streets, the large busses are not able to go there. So we choose the car service, this provided us a way to see more in the short amount of time and as GPS is part of the rental service, you will receive an education along your ride! I tried to contact 3 different companies and only Lisbon Eco Tours followed up and provided the best possible service: extremely customer focused & professional. They offered to rent a Renault Twizy and it is a fun car and completely electric, runs up to 80 km p/hr and takes easily two adults up the hill. We had plenty of stops and alternated our tour where we needed to change it. As there is a lot of traffic, you just need to follow other traffic and it is actually not intimidating at all. Expect to become an attraction yourself as many people will take a photo. After the 4 hour tour with stops, we had lunch at a local restaurant (taken there by our request by the owners of the company) and ordered the typical local food & wine. I would do this any time again whenever I will return to Lisbon. Also Lisbon is spread out with lots of public space (parks & squares), we did not feel squeezed into the city, although the city attracted many visitors. Locals are really open, friendly and welcoming.Written May 17, 2018

The Twizy is a fun little "car". Unfortunately for us it was a rainy day but we stayed dry in our little electric car. It is equipped more like a motorcycle (no glass in the windows, no heater, no door locks) so nothing valuable can be left inside when you park and walk to see an attraction. But, that was not an issue. The GPS guide was easy to follow and informative. The only significant issue is that Lisbon's cobbled streets are not exactly made for wheeled vehicles. The ride can be a bit rough in the Old Town.

Last year my grandmother and I went together to Lisboa. She can't walk well and this tour was amazing for her. We saw a lot without any rush. Even now this is what she remembers the most. Up and down the narrow streets of the city, she totally loved it! Thanks for the operator for they kindness, I was a little worried but she explained everything!

These little cars are a great way to explore, if you want to step out of your comfort zone. Rented cars with another couple. Lost them initially, but reconnected soon. Lots of traffic in Lisbon, so you have to keep an eye on traffic and pay attention to the GPS if you want to stay on track with the programmed route. The couple that owns the business are GREAT to work with.

We had a great day, it went so quick, we rented from 12 until 6 with a couple hours stop in Belem for lunch and walking. We arrived late to pick our car but this was no problem. We had booked about a week in advance.
In the whole day we did the moors, downtown and Belem tours. We were not particularly conservative on the battery/ driving style and we still had half a battery left!
Overall it was a lot of fun and we saw a lot. And we would fully recommend and even consider another tour (there will be new tours soon including one to the tall Cristo Rei statue).
I was also very pleasantly surprised to find that the local drivers were very forgiving!
Some tips to future travellers:
If you are up for an adventure, freedom of where and when to go and privacy this is for you not to mention a more environmental friendly way to show off the potential of electrical cars! If you want an absolutely stress free tour perhaps one with a guide is best for you.
If you go for the full day go as early as possible because if you run out of time you can stay extra and if your battery runs you can change for another car (pending availability).
Familiarise yourself with putting the hand break on and off on a hill if you want to conserve battery if you encounter traffic on a hill or you need to park in a hill.
Take a big enough bag so that you don't have to carry the GPS unit by hand.
Some suggestions for improvements for eco tours:
For the price I was expecting the GPS tech to be more up to date, there seems to be a lot of change in Lisbon in terms of streets, for example we could not complete the moors tours because a road was closed off by police. When we pressed in the GPS to go home back to the shop it took us in a one way street the wrong way. Luckily the locals told us not to go as we had missed the no go sign. If Garmin can not be up to date then perhaps another company is better.
Incomplete moors tour due to road closure- we were warned that if the card that opens the restricted street did not work that we should go back. But we didn't manage to even reach that point because another road was closed off due to roadworks. Please add another moors tour with an alternative way that people can select or at least give a paper map explaining where we can go.
Power to the GPS unit kept being disconnected at both points, cable to the unit and plug to the cigar plug.

As Lisbon is a very hilly city this is a fantastic way to visit it. We had a great 6 hour trip and really enjoyed ourselves. The Renault Twizy electric car is easy to drive and easy to park almost anywhere. Even in the busiest areas we could park it and take our photos without problems. The couple who run this business are very helpful and really take the time to explain everything to make the trip even better.

We stumbled across this little gem by accident. We have a fantastic day we did the 3hr tour and were able to fit so much in and see so much, parking was no issue and it was very easy to drive, the sat nav was excellent and idiot prove plus you feel like a celebrity with people taking pictures and asking questions of the car which I felt just added some more fun to the experience while enjoying it from the comfort or our little 2 seater sports car 😂😂😂

We found the Twizy tour a brilliant solution for seeing the very hilly city with children in tow. We wanted: to get an introduction to Lisbon and sense of the historic city as a whole, to see major landmarks and sights, to customise the pace of our explorations to suit our whim for stops, a glass of something cold etc. They (9 and 7 yrs) wanted: thrills, independence, novelty, custard tarts, castles. The staff were really welcoming and friendly, and ran through instructions clearly. (They were also great for dinner recommendations afterwards!) Paperwork didn't take too long, and before we knew it we were off, cruising up the historic streets of Lisbon with the wind in our hair. The running audioguide allowed us to get a sense of what we were passing through, although I have to admit for the first 20 mins I was concentrating more on the busy traffic and roads than what was around me. That said, central Lisbon traffic is a lot more forgiving and generous towards bonkers tourist vehicles than London traffic, and we felt safe and entertained throughout. Parking for quick stops as and when we wished was no problem. Highlights of our tour were Belem tower at sunset and the hilly little streets of the Alfama district. If you only have a short time to experience Lisbon, this is a great option and I recommend it. As my 9 year old said "it's actually a lot better to be on a twizy looking at the outside of tram 28 than to be on the inside of tram 28"

I'm trying to rent just one Twizy for two adults. If I go on your website, it allows me to rent one vehicle (one or two adults). If I try to do it through here, it will charge me for two. Should I book for just one adult and then bring my son along?
Written January 5, 2019
When we rented our electric car in Lisbon, it held two people. One in the front and the other behind the driver. I'm sure they charged by the car - not the number of people in it.
