About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- N2861SCbarbaraw0 contributionsPoor Service to Mature Women Traveling AloneI was in town for a business meeting at the Hyatt across the street on One @ Lafayette. I attempted to have dinner at this restaurant around 6 pm. Traveling alone, as a 5 ft. tall patron, 70 years old, I was obviously declined service because I could not "eat alone at the bar". There were many 2-top tables empty but it was clear that they did not want to seat me because they were holding out for couples that would order a whole lot more. I hope that this comes back to haunt them when they are all old and alone, much less physically unable to get up on bar stools. I ended up with take-out crap to eat alone in my hotel room, although I would have tipped generously for the excellent meal and service that I had experienced at this restaurant chain in years past.Written October 3, 2024

He was patient and provided us with a lot of interesting information about the daily events of the Salazar period. He brought to life the everyday life of the 1940 World's Fair, while at the same time providing us with adequate answers to our questions about previous historical periods. Thank you Luís.Written July 19, 2024
- Departure1040070 contributionsProfessional and well-informed tourWe toured Cascais with Luis on the first day of our stay and came away with an appreciation of the town's history, architecture, people, food and more. We found him to be a highly professional guide, who made several excellent suggestions for further places to visit both in the town and the Sintra area.Written July 17, 2024
- 504AliciaB0 contributionsDo this trip you will learn about history and culture. This is an excellent way to learn about the history of Belém and how it has changed over the decades. Luís was wonderful and attentive to the heat and our attention span. It was really interesting for such a value to have our own guide after doing group tours we really appreciate that we were able to book this. We certainly learned things that we did not find in guide books and you should definitely do this trip.Written July 2, 2024
- Ida E0 contributionsBeauty and knowledge in Cascais! We really enjoyed learning about the beautiful Cascais and its significance during WW2 for diplomats of other countries and the wealthiest and royalty of Portugal. Luís is super knowledgeable and could answer any question we had and showed us the plans of the seaside and how it has changed over the years.Written July 1, 2024

- V6137CVjudithr0 contributionsFascinating neighborhood walking tourOur guide, a journalist and teacher, was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the Campo de Ourique neighborhood, leading us through the streets and behind doors to reveal its hidden treasures. Highly recommend.Written May 12, 2024
- shesc20220 contributionsGreat, educational tour of Campo de OuriqueDetailed, tailored personal tour of Campo de Ourique. We moved to this neighborhood earlier this year but wanted to know more about the history of the area. Lus is very knowledgeable and showed us some interesting places that we had walked past a quite a few times but never noticed before.Written May 12, 2024
- i8toys0 contributionsDetailed, tailored personal tour of Belem - Highly RecommendedThis tour is for those who want to understand the history of the region of Belem and the surrounding environment. In challenging weather conditions, beating rain and extremely stormy windy conditions, Lus took us around the Belem District and tailored the tour to make it as comfortable as possible for us - the weather defeated 3 umbrellas that day at Belem! Lus was an extremely professional host who explained so much about the area, the Portuguese Expo of 1940 and the Salazar Dictatorship.Written March 30, 2024

This was an excellent tour for both history and to see places and things you would never notice by walking alone.
Luis knows so much about Lisbon and could answer any questions we had and more. Highly recommended to start your trip and we finished at the popular bifana shop to end with lunch!

Next time you come to Lisbon I'll offer a bottle of "vinho verde" to go along with the bifanas.

Very good food, service was great. We had the fajita burrito and the taco salad. My wife loved the taco salad. I like the burrito, but there was something a little off about it, sour or vinegary or something. It was a pleasant experience, hate the parking on the street. Have to find somewhere different to park.

I wish the rest of your honeymoon on the Portuguese islands will be as memorable (or even better) than the first days in Lisbon. Come back whenever you want, I’ll be happy to see you again.

Luis is a great tour guide. His "other life" as a travel journalist and photographer gives his tours a different feel than others I've taken -- more integration of art and culture with history and general points of interest. He points out interesting visual aspects that others might pass by. He shared stories about past and present neighborhood regular people, reminding us Lisbon isn't a museum or tourist haven, but a real working-living city.
