Carlos was an excellent host and driver. He’s very knowledgeable about history, politics and the economy of Portugal. He’s very professional. The Benz was in excellent shape and extremely clean. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would select Gold Compass and Carlos again.

Porto was beautiful However the reason for 3 stars is because we asked in advance to organize a Vegan option for lunch and he just said walk down there see if you find one 😳 which we didn’t and had no lunch at all!! And it was along day with no food… Also no history on the stops or anywhere on the tour. Otherwise he was pleasant but very minimalistic

Very polite, helpful and professional driver. We changed plans from drive to Douro instead to Tomar. They were very accommodating, but surprisingly we didn’t get a discount or partial refund even though we changed from a 4 hour trip to a 1.5 hour trip. Not that we expected it, we were happy they were willing to change plans at the last minute!

Our driver, Wasley Dantas, was incredible. He kept us informed of his approximate arrival time so that we could continue to enjoy ourselves as long as possible. He was extremely courteous, polite, and very professional, both in his actions and his appearance. The entire trip he was very friendly and patient. When we arrived at our destination, he stayed and made sure that we could get into our accommodation.

This was an excellent private day tour. Our guide Andre was outstanding and very knowledgeable on the history of Obido and Nazare, as well as the overall history of the country of Portugal. I highly recommend him and the private tour company.

I made reservations for this trip the evening prior. I didn’t know what to expect. I also didn’t have tickets for the main attraction—Sintra. My guide Luís was fantastic. He was timely, knowledgeable and professional. He guided me through the day’s sights and sounds, all while explaining the significance of each. He also showed me how to obtain tickets to Sintra. We went off the beaten path a couple times when something caught my attention. And he knew a good spot for lunch. I’d highly recommend anybody with little time to spend around Lisboa to consider this trip.

We had Mário García as our guide, he was the best. We had a great time and he provided us with the best tips and recommendations.

I used Gold Compass extensively for a 12 day trip to Lisbon and Porto with 2 friends. They provided a MB van for 2 airport transfers, 2 transfers to Porto and then back to Lisbon and 3 full day tours. The drivers were all professional, extremely knowledgeable and just a lot of fun to tour with. They showed us a lot of hidden gems and vistas we did not even know existed. The drivers recommended and made the reservations for 5 memorable lunches during our tours and transfers. We will never forget all the fun we had and it was all due to our drivers Daniel, Hugo and Euclides for taking us on a wonderful adventure. The airport transfers were also exceptional and we were chatting so much that I did not get the name of the drivers. Our driver for the return to the airport went way above his duties to actually park the van, take our luggage and walk us through the airport and right up to the counter for us to check in. Other people checking in near us were so impressed they asked who provided such a great service so I told them use Gold Compass next time.

If you are limited in the amount of time for seeing Nazare and Obidos, this is a good option. Our driver, Euclides, was an excellent driver, and the vehicle was spacious and comfortable. We spent an hour at each location which was not enough to see everything, but we were grateful for the opportunity to explore lovely seaside Nazare and the historic castle village in Obidos.

Hugo was a phenomenal driver to say the least! He made our trip to Portugal one for the books! Learning about his personal experience in Portugal, his family, his personal stories and knowledge and expertise about the area made this tour 100 times better than your typical private tour. Hugo was extremely kind and considerate, and made sure that we took the appropriate routes with all of the tips and tricks when he dropped us off in certain locations in Sintra and Cascais. He was exceptionally caring for my family and my parents in particular. He was accommodating in every single way possible. I would highly recommend that anyone who decides or is looking for a private tour in general or with this company in particular ask for Hugo personally, he is an amazing person that deserves to recognize all of the effort that he put into his work in making Portugal a welcoming destination for all travelers.

Ifwe could give it a 10 we would! Hugo is someone we can call a friend now. He made the experience so much more than just a tour. We have had many private tours in the past and this one was in the top 2. An incredible itinerary with someone who made it even more magical.
