- A minimum of 4 people (2 adults + 2 children) per booking is required (or equivalent payment for smaller groups/families))
- Subject to favorable weather conditions. If canceled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund.
- Although it is very interesting, the city pavement can become very irregular. Also, because the city has many sloped streets (Lisbon is known as the city of 7 hills), it might become a bit difficult for baby strollers and pushchairs. If you need to bring one, make sure it is a light, thin one. Baby carriers, back carriers or woven wraps & slings are a good option for babies and toddlers
- Make sure you and the kids wear comfortable clothes and shoes. A coat or a sweater might be useful even in summer time, because it gets cold after sunset. In summertime, don't forget to bring a hat and sunglasses for all (Lisbon is known by its fantastic bright sunlight) and make sure you apply sunscreen before starting the tour. In winter or rainy weather, don't forget to bring a raincoat
- Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
- The total distance walked will be 2,5 miles approximately, including a tram ride on the steepest hill of Bica, if available (please note that the waiting line for the tram can quite long, as the trams depart every 10/15 minutes with a maximum capacity of 22 passengers inside and also the tram may be closed due to unexpected technical issues without prior notice - in these cases the group wil walk down the hill).
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund
- This is a private tour/activity. Only your group will participate
- For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours in advance of the start date of the experience.

- 723sibylleb0 contributionsWonderful tour catered to our family of 6Wonderful tour catered to our family - 2 parents, 2 grandparents and a 7 and 8 year old. Our guide was excellent and fun. She made the tour interesting and personal - engaging the children the entire way. Highly recommend if you'd like to get the most of an afternoon in Lisbon. We were only staying 2 days and this was an absolute highlight.Written August 22, 2024
- jackpT3983NS0 contributionsBest tour guide we’ve ever hadJulia is probably the best tour guide we’ve ever had in any location, she was extremely knowledgeable, fun, easy going, and kept our 11 and 7 year olds as engaged as us, the parents! I cannot recommend this tour enough, and Julia in particular as a absolute 5-star guide.Written July 13, 2024
- dajh510 contributionsHighy recommendedWe did two Little Lisbon tours, one was the family tour and the other was the food tour. Both tours were excellent and the grand kids (8 and 6) really enjoyed it along with parents and grandkids. The two guides were entertaining, they knew their stuff, imparted knowledge freely and provided unexpected challenges for the kids who were enthralled by the experiences.Written June 29, 2024
- dweaver20240 contributionsBest "Genuine Lisbon" Tour with MiguelWe had the best tour with Miguel! It was so nice to be with a guide who could talk about the history of the city in engaging, age appropriate ways! He was knowledgable and totally understanding of our 5 and 7 year old. We loved the scavenger hunt to find the different tiles throughout the city and the smell test of the different spices and plants that various settlers brought to Lisbon. Such a fun way to learn about the rich history of the city.Written June 11, 2024
- joannae7560 contributionsLittle Lisbon - Genuine Lisbon tourWe all loved our tour with Little Lisbon - grown ups and the kids!! It’s so great to have a local show you around and help you to spot the details and the stories behind them. Great activities for the kids (ours were 8. 10 and 12), thoughtful route with rest stops for the kids (and adults) and fun surprises / activities along the way. We will be recommending this to all our friends.Written February 22, 2024
- lizzyLiverpool0 contributionsGreat tourLovely tour with Julia. Learned lots and was a great way to get our bearings on our first day in Lisbon. We enjoyed the trip on the tram and the custard tart. Our daughter was a little bored at times, I was expecting it to be a little more child focussed but we did enjoy the second challenge finding our way around Barrio Alto.Written October 29, 2023
- 607nangp0 contributionsFun tour of Belém for the whole familyWe took the Sea Heroes of Belém tour with Julia and had a fun time despite the rain and wind. Julia made the tour informative and fun, and adapted to our kids' age & personality. The highlight of course was the mini-tour of the pasteis de Belém bakery complete with tasting. I absolutely recommend having Julia as a tour guide, she was friendly and genuine, and the 3 hours flew by.Written October 29, 2023
- 927nishas0 contributionsGreat family tour of Sintra!Marianna was a very good guide and was super patient with our kids. She knew so much history about the destinations we visited in Sintra and she was a terrific navigator for our family. My kids still talk about Initiation Well and the story she told us about the kings brother who was locked in a room for 9 years! Her passion for Portugal is very evident in the stories and knowledge she shared.Written August 30, 2023
- karenrA2427KJ0 contributionsBest tour for familiesWe did the essential Lisbon tour with Julia with our 8 & 10 year old kids and another family. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. We learned so much and the kids had a blast. I would book it again in a heartbeat!Written April 1, 2023
- 655liannec0 contributionsFabulous. Time and money well spent! This was a fantastic way to see historic parts of Lisbon. Mariana was wonderful. She explained things in a very age appropriate way for the kids (9 and 11) and even had age appropriate activities for them. We all learned a lot and appreciated so much about Lisbon as a result of the tour. Highly recommended.Written January 22, 2023
- ahar20150 contributionsLisbon with kidsWe took the Treasures of Enchanting Lisbon tour (kids 9 and 5) with Marianna and then the Genuine Lisbon (cousins 3 and 7 along with grand parents joined!) with Julia. Both guides were fantastic and so patient with our kids. The tours did not overlap so we got to see different parts of the city. They pointed out places and details we would have missed if exploring on our own. They had scavenger hunts for the kids, which were thoroughly enjoyed! The younger ones got tired on the Genuine Lisbon tour with the hilly walk, but Julia made sure we slowed down and took breaks when needed. I would absolutely do these tours again!Written December 31, 2022
- RonitHeather0 contributionsGreat - Genuine Lisbon TourMariana gave us a wonderful tour of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama as part of the Genuine Lisbon tour. Our young children (ages 8, 5, and 2) loved her explanations, enthusiasm and activities. They really enjoyed the tile hunt, scent guessing and scavenger hunt. We all learned something. Would definitely do another Little Lisbon tour on a future trip to Lisbon.Written October 19, 2022
- newp0rt990 contributionsFantastic Tour!Mariana was absolutely fantastic! We just took the Sea Hero’s of Belem tour. I was worried about my kids making it the full time, and they were completely engaged. And the adults enjoyed it just as much. She was knowledgeable, kind, patient and a wonderful tour kind. Probably the best tour I’ve taken!Written August 27, 2022
- Lisakarena0 contributionsLittle Lisbon tours is fun and engaging for families of all agesOur family loved our “Genuine” Lisbon tour. Mariana, a Lisbon native and our guide, made the content enjoyable for our twelve-year old tween and for us. Unlike many traditional tours for adults where the tour guide does mostly talking and explaining, Little Lisbon tours encourage active participation by integrating all the senses, sight, sound, touch, and smell. We learned so much history in such a fun interactive way! I highly recommend Little Lisbon tours for families.Written April 22, 2022
- JenFTB0 contributionsWonderful walking tour! From the very first email with Mariana, our experience with Little Lisbon was phenomenal. We booked the Genuine Lisbon tour for our small family of 3 and also had Little Lisbon help with booking a sunset sailing tour with a third party tour company. Both tours were amazing and took the stress out of planning things independently. The walking tour was one of our favorite highlights of our week in Lisbon! We learned so much and Mariana was so engaging and fun to spend a few hours with. Our daughter loved pointing out things she had learned on that first day during the rest of our trip. We especially loved the scavenger hunt at the end of the walking tour and the little “prizes” at the end. Thank you, Mariana, for giving us a wonderful introduction to Lisbon and sharing your knowledge and love of such a captivating city! We’d highly recommend these tours to all, with or without kids, it was a nice pacing and amount of information to take in.Written April 17, 2022

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our Lisbon tour with Julia. She engaged the 5 yo and 8 yo with games and stories. Afterwards, they would point out places we had visited and re-tell us the information. I recommend doing early in your visit to get lay of the land and give you ideas for places to see again.

This tour was exactly what our family needed as first-time visitors to Lisbon. We took the tour with our 10 and 14-year-olds, and it was awesome. Our guide, Maria, was so knowledgeable and made the tour very enjoyable for both the kids and adults. We all especially loved the scavenger hunt in Bairro Alto and the elevator ride toward the end. We highly recommend this to other families looking for a way to make sightseeing in Lisbon fun and engaging for the whole family! Thank you for providing this experience!

I did so much research on the right tour for our group with 6 kids & 8 adults and I'm so glad I went with Little Lisbon! Raphael was so knowledgable and was so incredible with our kids. They were holding his hand only a few minutes into the tour and giving him big hugs at the end.
The tour itself is so well thought out to entertain & teach kids in such simple ways! We especially loved finding a tour that included a tram ride & treats! We didn't hear a single complaint about walking during the tour (which was miraculous)! We had kids 7, 6, 3 years old. (Plus a couple babies but they weren't really included which, we expected)
Couldn't recommend it enough, everyone raved about how perfect it was for our big family group!

Highly recommended for anyone visiting Lisbon with kids. The guide kept our 6 and 7 year old kids entertained for 3 hours in 40 degree heat, teaching them about the history of Lisbon and ensuring they relate to everything she said.
The guide was also great at amending the tour due to the heat and adding plenty of ice cream stops.
I'd give more than 5 stars if I could!

We enjoyed the attention the guide paid to our children ages 4,5,7 and 9. He made it fun and information for them. Especially the activities that kept them engaged.
The only negative aspect was the hills! Our little ones didn't have the energy to walk up the many hilly streets and the parents had to carry them in 90 degree heat.
We would have rather taken an Uber or another means of transport up to the Bairro Alto. We didn't expect such an effort on our part and were not given a choice.

Dear Joseph,
We appreciate your review and feedback.
We are sorry that the weather and hills made the experience difficult. Our guides try to adapt the itinerary and stopping places in order to make the family experience as pleasant as possible for everyone (providing shade, benches, toilets, water stops, toilets or playgrounds). We are convinced that the best way to get to know the city is to explore it on foot. Also, the challenges we prepare for children presuppose interaction with the itinerary (namely with the cobbled dtone pavements and the tiles) and visited places, so we always try not to exclude sections from the itinerary.
We hope you have the opportunity to visit and explore the city sometime soon again!

This tour was a highlight of our trip, for all 3 generations. We all learned a lot but there was far less talking than other tours. Our guide did a great job keeping us in the shade, showing us things as well as telling us and including the most important parts. We all loved the scavenger hunt and pastry samples!

This tour was the best thing we did during our trip to Lisbon. Our guide Rafael was amazing. The tour was really geared toward our kids, 7 and 10, and we, the parents, just came along for the ride. The pacing was excellent. As soon as our kids' attention began to wane, Rafael was ready with another fun activity that got them re-engaged. He even bought the whole family treats as a reward for a successful scavenger hunt :)) Rafael was also kind enough to answer the adults' questions and provide very helpful recommendations :) Three hours flew by, and we were sad to say goodbye. Our kids are still talking days later about the amazing private tour they had. I cannot recommend it highly enough if you are traveling in Lisbon with kids. Thank you so, so much to Rafael and Little Lisbon for this special experience!

We found the Little Lisbon tours when looking for kid-friendly attractions, and it turned out to be one of the best parts of our trip, both for the kids AND grown ups. Júlia was an incredible guide. She's super knowledgable and passionate about the city, but found a great balance between history, facts, and fun. The multiple scavenger hunts kept our little ones (ages 5 & 8) moving all day, though it WAS a lot of walking, so be prepared for ~2-3 miles. We actually did it on our first day after traveling overnight from the US, so definitely a good option if you're concerned about dealing with tired, complaining kids. Overall, I can't recommend it enough. Thanks!

We booked the Essential Lisbon 3 hour walking tour with our two children, aged 7 and 9. We arranged this for the first morning of our visit in Lisbon and we all enjoyed it.
Mariana provides such insight into all areas of Lisbon life, its history and geography. In particular the children enjoyed learning about Lisbon’s history and the challenge provided by Mariana with her game in Barrio Alto.
I highly recommend Little Lisbon tours to any family looking to learn about Lisbon in a fun, friendly, personal and relaxed way. We hope to return and enjoy some other Little Lisbon tours.
