Highlights
  • Comprehensive overview of Lisbon with in-depth commentary from a guide
  • Visit places inaccessible by coach on a walking tour
  • Come to a deeper understanding of Lisbon than if exploring independently
  • Taste a traditional pastel de nata pastry at a local bakery
What to expect
  • Meet your guide and group in central Lisbon. Listen to a short introduction to get oriented, and hear about the history of the square, built with native Portuguese stones. Take in the sights, sounds, and aromatic smells from restaurants as you follow your guide through Restauradores Square and down Liberdade Avenue to see an important obelisk and plenty of examples of Portuguese art deco architecture. Check out Rossio Central Station and learn the details of the 19th-century engineering marvel that is the tunnel to Sintra. Next up are Carmo Square and the Chiado neighborhood, where you split up for some free time to explore independently (with recommendations from your guide on which local boutiques, restaurants, and bookstores are worth a visit). As you explore, learn about the tradition of fado music, stopping to peek into fado restaurants and performance spaces you would ordinarily walk right by. The tour’s last stops are the oldest cathedral in Lisbon, Sé de Lisboa, and the grand Commerce Square (Praça do Comércio). After your guide’s final history lesson, get insider suggestions on where to explore further and say goodbye to your group.

Great introduction to Lisbon
Aug 2021
First day in Lisbon, Beatriz showed us the highlights of the city, and gave us suggestions on what to do on our own. She is very knowledgeable and pleasant company. I highly recommend the tour in general, and Beatriz in particular.

Great tour, very informative and fun guide
Aug 2021
The tour was really good - our guide Beatriz was very knowledgeable. She shared a lot of interesting facts about the history and the architecture of the city. She also showed us some very helpful shortcuts and told us some fun facts. Her stories were engaging and she had vibrant and bubbly energy. It was a great experience and I would recommend it! :)

3 hr walking tour Lisbon
Aug 2021 • Friends
We recently took a small group walking tour of Lisbon with Joana, and what a pleasure it was! Joana is a native of Lisbon and so knowledgeable and funny!!! We got to try the pastel nata (conventual custard tart) and a little wine and cheese from a local spot and overall had a lovely time. We would recommend this tour to anyone to get a good overview of downtown Lisbon area, just make sure to wear good walking shoes for those cobblestone streets!

An opportunity to live and love the streets of Lisbon by taking a long walk
A lovely all round introduction to Lisbon's history and wonderful sites. I was informed and had various historical monument and sights reaffirmed from previous visits.

Excellent tour and tour guide!!
Oct 2020 • Couples
One of the best tours I’ve been on! Joanna was extremely knowledgeable and a fantastic story teller. We wandered the streets learned so much about the city, history, cool local tips, tried some local food and had an incredible time. We’ve booked two other tours through this company based on our experience. Joanna is an incredible guide. They also made accommodations for gluten free which was amazing!!
