What to expect
Meet your guide in central Lisbon for your Arrabida and Sesimbra small-group guided day trip. Hop aboard your air-conditioned minivan and drive off. Cruise along the Vasco da Gama Bridge, the longest bridge in Europe spanning 11 miles (17 km) over the Tagus River. Hear how it was developed for the 1998 Lisbon Universal Exposition on your way to visit stunning Pamela Castle. From the castle, savor a wine tasting of four delectable wines at a local winery. Next, head to the northern shore of the Sado River and discover the beauty of Arrabida Natural Park. Climb to the tallest peak at 1,640 feet (500 meters) and gaze over the verdant park towards the Atlantic and the beaches below. Then, stop for a fresh seafood lunch (own expense) in the charming fishing town of Sesimbra. Spend more free time strolling along lively streets or continue for a walk along golden beaches. Alongside your guide, explore one of Portugal’s oldest wineries, Casa Museu Jose Maria da Fonseca. After learning about wine production you’re ready for a wine tasting. Enjoy two regional wines with delicious tastes and aromatic bodies as you relax on the property. Bust out your camera one more time as you stopover at Cristo Rei Sanctuary, a shrine dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ which was inaugurated in 1959. Then, capture a panoramic view of Lisbon from afar. Finally, hop aboard your minivan and return to central Lisbon where your tour ends.

If you love wine you have to do this tour. Be prepared to taste good wine and visit one of the oldest winery in the Sesimbra area. He also took us to see the most spectacular panoramic views of the area.

Nuno our guide and driver was excellent. I enjoyed speaking with him. He even gave us tricks where to eat around Lisbon.

Keep up the good work Nuno. It was a pleasure meeting you.

Fabulous day tour/wine tasting. We had Hugo as our guide who was a lovely guy, informative, friendly and polite. My favourite was the family run vineyard in the morning. Lovely stop with breathtaking views. Loved this trip!

Awesome time with our guide and new friend

I was a solitary traveler to Lisbon for the first time.

Highly Recommended!!!! FIVE STARS to our guide.

He explains Portugal Winemaking, but also add in so many personal touches and stories of the country while on the ride to the destination. you might think this trip was just for wine, but I got so much more than that.

Table wine in the local fish restaurant is very affordable.
Perfect for people who are new to wine.

Bonus: Due to the bad weather, there are only two of us on the tour, we both agreed and stopped by the small fishing village to have local grill fishes. Fresh and satisfying meal. Great memory!

She really made it a great day, There was only 4 of us which worked out great as Mar was more than accommodating and made us all feel comfortable in the small group. we had so much fun tasting the Lovely wines especially from the first winery and the beautiful views that we saw made this a great day tour. I would very much recommend this to others

A great day with some amazing views!
Jan 2020
This is one of the highlights of my trip to Portugal. Even crossing a 17km bridge was fun! Sesimbra was a beautiful beach town with plenty of restaurants. I would suggest getting off the main road by the beach and finding a little restaurant tucked away in one of the many side streets - it makes the experience so much better. Ricardo was a great guide who went out of his way to assist one of the participants in need of minor medical attention, was very patient while trying to round everyone up (which was challenging at times), and was very knowledgeable about the sights and the wines at the tasting. He was so patient and friendly in responding to all of our questions. It was a wonderful way to spend the day.

Very nice tour with some wine tasting along the way
Nov 2019
It’s very hard to find a true wine tasting tour. Most of the ones list here on Trip Advisor and other sources mostly combine wine tasting with other stops. This trip was no different. There were only two wineries plus long stops at a castle, an overlook, and a town.

Our small group of 3 was picked up at the Hard Rock Cafe at 9 am. When you arrive and see 100 people standing there, don't worry. This is the gathering spot for about a dozen different tours.

Once we got into our little van, we had a long drive through town across the Casco de Gamma bridge. First stop was a an 8th C castle. The guide gave us an overview and then we walked around on our own. There were some exhibits but signs were all in Portuguese only.

Next stop was the first of two wineries. The winery had a small tasting room and we gathered around a table. The guide brought out two whites, two reds, and a moscat. They were pretty good and amazingly cheap. Just a few Euros per bottle. We bought some wine but other than that there was no interaction with the winery folks.

Then we drove around and had a stop at an overlook to snap some pictures. The ride continued on to Sesimbra where we stopped for lunch. They gave us a bit over an hour to explore on our own. Found a nice restaurant overlooking the ocean.

After that we went to the second winery. Compared to the first one, this one was much larger and we got a tour. Saw where they stored and aged wine but not where they made it. The winery specialize in moscat and we tasted two more wines here.

After the wine tasting we headed back to Lisbon. A quick stop at the huge statue gifted from Brazil which has a beautiful view of the city. Arrived back at the hard rock by 5 pm.

Overall it was a nice tour...the guide, Joanne, was very knowledgeable and made it a special experience. The wine was nice but don't expect to learn a lot about Portuguese wine making nor to experience a wide variety of their delicious wines.

Ricardo was great, very friendly and seems to enjoy talking/teaching about wine. I recommend walking along the beach at Sesimbra; better than shopping/eating in town.

Wine tasting
Oct 2019
The day started rainy, so the view was just so and so in the start, but rice to a sunny and nice experienced trip! We crossed the longest bridge in Europe - 17km long, and even thoug the sight was limited, we had a spesial experience. Old Castle with fantastic view are included. Jose Maria de Fonseca do have fantastic wine - do look forward to this visit! Espesially the Moscatel wine are of best I ever tasted. It was not recommended to climbe mountain tops in this weather conditions, so we went down to the seaside for lunch. O velho e o Mar in Sesimbra can abselutely be recommended to visit! Very good food! Then to the next Winery - Quinta do Alcube, a small one, for local customers only. The wine was not at the same level as the first winery, but still OK. Then return to Lisbon with a short stop at Cristo Rei Santuary first. The trip can absolutely be recommended - but hope for a sunny day for full value for the money!
