About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 785patl0 contributionsPoorIberian pork TOUGH and almost inedible. Told the waiter and he asked if he could do anything? Still charged the full amount, two people ate pork and both left most of it. Do something, any gesture better than nothing which is whet we got. Much better places to eat. Definitely won’t go again.Written November 20, 2024
- Lucia C0 contributionsFun trip!Xavier and Bia were extremely knowledgeable, and explain very well, the procedure to make spumante, brandy and sangria. While going to the cellar we had the opportunity to see a wonderful exhibition from different parts of the world, which I appreciated very much. And after we went to another place where we got to taste four different types of wines. It was a lovely afternoon and worth going, I got more than what I expected.Written October 6, 2024
- savvygourmande0 contributionsSprings of living water - ConimbrigaThis was the highlite of our trip to Portugal. To imagine being in a first century city of such wealth that endured for four centuries and that ended with such a heroic and massive defence. The mosaic floors were dazzling and the extensive garden fountain still working after all these centuries was a marvel. Alfredo was the most knowledgeable and thoughtful guide. He engages with the people working at the museums and at the archeological site.Written September 30, 2024
- colleenpyke0 contributionsA Must on Your List! This is a perfect tour. You get an explanation of Roman culture and history, all with an excellent guide! Xavier Pereira is personable, very knowledgeable and makes history come alive. Thumbs up, a highly recommended tour. Colleen and John, USAWritten March 2, 2024
- P9402EAjessicad0 contributionsGreat experience!Really great highlight of our trip to Portugal! The cycling was quite hard (big hill getting out of Coimbra) but the bikes are really good quality so we just took our time and were rewarded with the views over the valley, small towns and the Roman ruins. Stopped for an espresso and pastel de nata in a town we would never otherwise have gone through. Recommend fully!Written January 11, 2024
- Discover443946610220 contributionsCoimbra excursionThe trip was amazing and our guide was as well. Beautiful sandy beaches and a relaxing boat ride. Made us want to spend more time in the area.Written October 15, 2023

The guide was very good and was engaging and personable. He explained all the history & places of interest along the way. Certainly a good way to see such places.Written October 6, 2023
- R8584UVlaurae0 contributionsWonderful day discovering a new regionGreat day Xavier was a wonderful guide. Told us all about the area and the wines of the region. The cellars were great. So personalized for us. The sparkling wines were delicious. A fabulous lunch a a local restaurant was also greatWritten September 26, 2023
- Freedom514570040890 contributionsExcellent tour!We had a very nice morning tour from Coimbra. Our guide was Xavier. He picked us up and dropped us off at our front door which was very helpful. He shared a lot of information about the area. The Moliceiro boat ride was very pleasant. We stopped at 2 beaches: Barra and Costa Nova, a good place for vacation. We liked the local pastry with a rich filling that Xavier offered at the end of our tour. Thank you, Xavier.Written July 24, 2023
- Bob G0 contributionsBike ride through Central Portugal - Fantastic! This is a fantastic activity that is not too physically taxing. The ride is long - 30 miles - but 85% gentle down hill. FUN!Written July 15, 2023
- George Kevin S0 contributionsMay visit to Portugal.Very nice tour. Guide was very nice and provided good information about the sights we were seeing. Boat tour was interesting and the beaches were beautiful.Written May 17, 2023
- c0l0rad0family0ff0ur0 contributionsAmazing ride to and tour of Roman ruins from Coimbra.Getting bikes was super convenient. Bikes were smooth, and we rode to Roman ruins passing through many interesting and quaint/non-touristy areas on the way to stop and relax. The ruins were incredible. Highly recommend this due to spot on logistics, uniqueness, and value.Written May 8, 2023
- linuscheng0 contributionsBeautiful Scenic HikingWe misunderstood that it was a hiking tour. Xavier was so flexible to change the itinerary on day, and even brought outdoor cloths to hike with us. We went for a beautiful scenic hike and we enjoyed it so much!Written April 19, 2023
- Valerie B0 contributionsTour from Coimbra to AveiroOur family very much enjoyed the visit to Aveiro to ride the boats and our guide was very friendly and happy to answer our questions. He took us to the beach at Casta Nova and taught us a little bit about the history of the area. Would recommend this tour to anyone.Written November 29, 2022
- jbayham0 contributionsExceeded expectationsMy wife and I were looking for an opportunity to bike and see the less urban areas of Portugal. This trip exceeded our expectations. Xavier picked us up in Coimbra in a clean spacious van with a rack to carry the bikes. We rented Trek hardtail mountain bikes from Xavier for an additional fee. The drive up to Viseu was beautiful, and Xavier shared his extensive knowledge of the area. Rain was forecasted, but we were fortunate to have clear weather. As the description says, you ride through small towns, across bridges over rivers and streams, and through beautiful countryside. The trail was paved throughout the ride and not crowded at all in November. Xavier met us at several checkpoints along the trail to make sure we were happy, and the bikes were functioning properly. One of the highlights was the stop for bifana and beer at Restaurante Casa Maçaroco just off the trail. We enjoyed the meal and got back on the trail. You begin the trip at a higher elevation than you end, but sections of the trail are slightly uphill. Because it was a railway at one time, the incline and declines are gradual relative to the roads in the area. Overall, we really enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it to friends.Written November 26, 2022

Xavier was an awesome tour guide. Very personable and did his best to make this trip memorable. He took us to see the Schist Villages in the Serra de Lousa, about an hour from Coimbra Portugal. Fascinating and very informative tour. We will remember, draw upon, and cherish this experience for many years to com. Thank you Xavier.

Xavier was a wonderful guide. He spoke very good English and provided a lot of insight into the villages and surrounding area. This is an area where having someone drive while you look at the incredible views is a major advantage ! We covered a lot of ground in 4 hours and felt the experience was well worth it!

Saw three of the shale rock (schist) villages in mountains near Coimbra. 4 hour trip with our wonderful guide Xavier who was so friendly and informative. Glad he was driving very steep and narrow mountain roads. The villages were so interesting unbelievable architectural style and beautiful surroundings. Definitely will seek out this company and Xavier on our next Portugal trip

The villages themselves are beautiful. Be prepared for lots of steep hills and climbing. You will see about 3 of the 27 villages. I feel this is a trip you could do by yourself. Wonderful viewpoints from the top of the mountain

Great way to see the mountain forest with a purpose. The buildings are artistically assembled and lovingly maintained thanks to government initiative and touristic visitation.

Xavier was very knowledgable, taking all the time we needed as we asked questions about the schist villages and their origins. It was a bit of a highlight to climb down into Talasnal, find a delightful shop and a Taberna, and to have a good glass of regional wine, just opened, for 1.5 Euro.
