Paolo was an amazing tour guide and we had a lovely day tour of the island with him. Communication was easy and the day was paced very nicely. We were able to learn a lot about San Miguel and experience things we couldn’t have on our own. Paolo added a lot of value to our visit to the island. Thank you!

This was our third tour with Paulo and Funtastic Azores. Each time Paulo has shown us a different and unique side of his island. Paulo is professional, informative, friendly and engaging. His tours are always fun and interesting. Having already done the Furnas and Sete Cidades tours, this time he took us to the north shore to see a surfing beach and a valley with water falls and water mills. Looking forward to our 4th visit!

We had a great time on the hot springs + dinner option. Even though it rained a lot, the hot springs was still enjoyable, and made it less crowded. Paulo was an amazing host and provided a lot of interesting info about the island. He aslo kindly asked our hotel to provide us towels. Would definitely recommend!

We had a great morning half day tour of Sete Cidades with Paulo. This was our first morning in the Azores, and Paulo was able to give us a good potted history of the island, the volcanoes, flora/fauna and current affairs! Understandably, the viewpoints were all very busy in peak season, so very thankful Paulo was flexible to pivot on the route so we saw everything. Very easy to arrange from the UK, picked us up on time in a spacious air conditioned bus. He's a very skilled photographer and patiently took some lovely photos for us! Would thoroughly recommend.

Just did 3 separate tours with Funtastic. Each day was amazing and exceeded all expectations. Paulo was punctual, very friendly, fun, and very knowledgeable about the island culture, and history. The private tours are a great way to see Soa Miguel. Will definitely book again.

I took a full day tour with Paulo, who turns out to be the owner of this company. He was professional from beginning to end, answering all the What’s app texts and communicating throughout to make me feel comfortable. There were 6 of us in this tour and any question any of us asked, Paulo answered knowledgeably , with patience, and you can see /feel his passion for his job . I appreciated that he drove safely throughout the day, we never felt rushed, and really felt that he wanted to make our day special and memorable(which it was). I loved that he chose a “ local” buffet restaurant as opposed to a tourist trap. He made sure we could always hear him and even had a microphone in the van so the people in the back could hear him. I have been on many tours throughout the world and I can tell you that Paulo is first class and I HIGHLY recommend you book any of his tours. You can tell how much he cares for people and that it’s not just about business. I thank Paulo for a tour that will stay with me forever and for his graciousness, kindness, knowledge , humor, and for being who he is.

We spent an amazing day with our guide Paulo. Since we only had 1 day for our tour of Sao Miguel, Paulo arranged a perfect day for us which included all we wanted to see and then some. In the course of the day we visited sete cidades, Furnas, the hot springs for leisurely bathing, the tea plantation, along with a delicious lunch, and more. His knowledge of the island is impressive. We were a group of 4 and arranged a private tour of the western part of Sao Migeul, which Paulo made to suit our requests. The highlights were swimming at Termas da Ferraria (Paulo got us there are just the right time and before the crowds), the stunning lakes of Sete Cidades, and a really fascinating pineapple plantation. Paulo was knowledgeable and very engaging, good company for the day! We would highly recommend.

We booked Funtastic Azores for two consecutive days of private tours. On day 1, we had Paulo, the proprietor, and on day 2, we had Mario, his trusted friend. Both of our tour guides were born and raised on Sao Miguel, and they were able to provide so much detail and historical context as we toured the beautiful countryside. We got to see everything that we wanted to see and a bunch of things we didn't even know we had wanted to see! We had debated renting a car, but we are glad we did not as some of the more popular tourist destinations were very difficult to find parking and a tight squeeze. Another attraction was only allowing licensed tours to drive up, whereas private cars had to park further away and take a shuttle in. Highlights of our 2 days include sete cidades, lake fogo, furnas, delicious Azorean pastries, home-grown pineapple and tea, and the famous Cozida Stew. We had an amazing time in the Azores and it is in large part because of our time with Funtastic Azores.
