We are going to explore Furnas, one of the most emblematic places of the island of São Miguel. There we can observe one of the active volcanoes of the island, appreciating its impressive lake and seeing the boiling waters where the local traditional stew is made. Furnas is also known for one of the most impressive botanical gardens in Europe, comprising a huge variety of plants and trees, in addition to small ponds and streams. The main attraction of this incredible garden is a massive brownish geothermal water pool, where you can have a very relaxing and invigorating bath.

The experience was great and well planed.
Eric is an awesome tour guide and took his time explaining the scenery and some historic facts in detail.
As I took the tour as an individual I was able to choose the place of depature and pace of the tour, which was really great. Thanks for making this happen for only one guest :)
The tour itself is great and offers several highlights:
- stop at the church at lake furnas
- stop at the caldeiras where some kind of stew is cooked in the groud. The timing was perfect as we were able to see how the food was picked up. Afterwards we visited one of the restaurants which served this meal.
- visiting of the craters within furnas city
- visting the termal bath of furnas
Furnas is an unique town and getting the chance to get guided through it with a local is a very nice experience I would highly recommend. Really glad I did this.
