Fantastic experience. The crew were great and knowledgeable. I was afraid of getting sea sick but luckily that did not happen.

Friendly staff, cares about the safety and respectful with the animals and the ocean
I did the full day with Pico de Aventura beginning of June 2024: in fact, it combines their 2 activities (whales watching in the morning and swimming with dolphins in the afternoon. they provide a lunch in between and you're free for around 1 hour). There are free lockers at their office you can use for your belongings. At the begining we have a debrief with our guide (also biologist), explaining that they won't approach to close to the animals we would met to not stress them, which it's how it has really happened during the tour. And the distance was adequate, we could see them properly. Both activities were pleasant and interesting, guided by biologists. In the morning, I was with the guide Marc and the skipper Natalia, in the small boat. Marc has explained us in English things about the species we met. We were lucky to meet killer whales, Atlantic spotted dolphins, short-finned pilot whales and at a further distance: a sperm whale. In the afternoon, I was with the guide Mateo and the skipper Miguel, with a smaller group, still in a small boat. You have 3 trials to go in the water, 2 persons at a same time to avoid to disturb the dolphins. Some people were more lucky inside the water to see them. I could see some close only once (and very quickly), but that's like this, it's nature. Also, before heading back, we saw plenty of them while in the boat, really everywhere, following the boat/jumping. That's was really incredible! And the group was very nice. Such a good day! And a thing I've really appreciated too, during the two tours, the guides and skippers have removed two trashes that were in the ocean, and bring back to the marina (including a big barrel)

      Great Experience
Amazing experience in a beautiful park. Luis and Gonzales I believe led us. Group of 9 in total. Had a little zip line portion, rappelling, and jumping. Other options for those that were uncomfortable. Would definitely have done it again if I had time. Such a beautiful park and such a fun activity. Left around 1 and were back a bit before 4.

Good trip but needed a commentary and safety talk.
It was good but the information came at the very end on the way back to the shore. It would have been better to tell us at the time what we were seeing in the water - Dolphins, Sei Whales and Pilot Whales. There was no doubt that the owner was proud of his boat and business, but if he had shared his enthusiasm at the beginning or during the trip it would have brightened our day further. Wrap up warm as it can be breezy and damp out there. There was NO safety talk before setting off.

      Surprising walk with Clara
Clara was a wonderful guide. She guided us to a beautiful viewpoint and gave interesting information about the nature and sights of the island (as well as the best place to eat ice cream).

      Highlight of Our Trip!
We had a blast on this tour! The guides were wonderful and we felt safe with the right amount of adventure the entire time. There is a decent amount of steep climbing / coordination on the rocks, and we did a few big jumps, a slide and 2 belays through waterfalls. 10/10 recommend!

      Good.
This was a nice tour but honestly do not use speed boats in rough seas or if you have any back issues. Use the bigger boat. The tour company was good. The guide was very nice and knowledgeable. We saw orca! And sperm whale but no dolphin :(.

      Amazing trail
This hike was really amazing! The views were really stunning. We absolutely recommand this hike. Clara, our guide, was really amazing. She knew a lot about nature and is so passionate about the island and the nature that it made the experience unforgettable. We were really lucky to have her as a guide.

      Experience of a lifetime!
First time booking a whale/dolphin watching experience. We tried to keep our expectations reasonable since there are things out of the operator’s control. But we were totally blown away. We saw a sperm whale with a calf, common dolphins and bottle nosed dolphins but the highlight was a pod of orcas including a calf. They were so playful and interactive - we spent agood 30 minutes watching them and have done great videos of them swimming next to our small boat. It was probably the most incredible experience price we have had so far!

      We saw Orcas!
Brilliant experience - we saw common dolphins, orcas (with baby) and sperm whale (with baby) and some very strange jellyfish. There were six orcas in the group and the baby was tiny - only a few weeks old 💙 we enjoyed the afternoon so much we got straight off the boat and booked another trip. Thank you!

      Nice afternoon trip.
Booking through TripAdvisor was easy. We took the 13:30 boat. The quay to pick up the catamaran was easy to find. We sailed out for 45 minutes. It was a calm sunny day the crew found three Sperm whales, one kindly stayed at the surface for some time. We also, say Spotted dolphins and Bottlenose dolphins. The whole trip was about 3 hours. Crew were friendly and courteous.

      Incredible dolphins and whales!
Absolutely amazing experience. We were so lucky to see whales and 3 different types of dolphins. The dolphins were incredible, even jumping up into the air. The guides were great, explaining everything and the boat driver did a wonderful job. Definitely would recommend!

This afternoon at Picos de Aventura is one we’ll never forget. After a good briefing by Alexandre we went on the rib boat with Mark and Ruben. Our boat counter six guests and we went into the Atlantic Ocean two by two in turn. We had 3 opportunities to swim and see the Bottlenose dolphins, and Mark and Ruben were just spot on, positioning the boat time and time again in the right spot and helping us into the water at the right time and not less important, in the right splash free way. Our captain and guide made us feel safe and comfortable too, they just know what they’re doing, and we also received some extra info about these gracious dolphins and even a nice tour back along the magnificent coastline. Definitely a must do when visiting São Miguel. I also recommend the whale watch trip, which we did last Monday and was also a big success.

Awesome experience swimming with wild dolphins in their environment. This is not some water park activity or swiming with animals that come to you because they are been fed. This is the real thing, It requires jumping out of a zodiac when they come and getting back on the boat quickly. Our guides were very clear and helpful and their love of the environment shows. We did see groups of common dolphins 3 or 4 times. They do have other resident species in the islands. Good swiming!

This is just a unique must try experience if you’re game for it. The captain watches a small pod of dolphins and gets along side, stops the motor and two or three people slide into the water quickly to get some views of the dolphins before they swim away to a little more distance. There’s so many dolphins around that you can still get surprisingly close to them as they swim around the area. They can be as little as 20 feet away while you’re in the water and I imagine can also get closer from time to time. Have your camera ready when you get in if you have one as you maybe have about 15-30 seconds before they move away a little further. Possibly 2-4 potential times per person to get into the water as only a small number get in at any one time. The water was surprisingly warm for early May and so blue under the surface. You are in the open ocean with nothing more than a wet suit and a snorkeling mask so not something to do if swimming is not your thing. Everyone on our boat of 7 got great and close views of the dolphins. The spotters on the island and the crew do a great job of coordinating to give you the best chance to succeed. Great activity! Wish our camera was cooperating a little better on this unique day but an amazing memory.

    We loved everything:
Skippers Pedro e Paulo we're so kind and cool, biologist Anne very nice also.
Their main attention was to create the minimum possible impact, for the animals and environment, while we're offering us the great experience in this immersive contact with dolphins.
We. were unable to stay closer to them, in the water, becouse the group we approached had cubs and adults were very protective, but they were enough curious to pass nearby the boat.
In was a very special morning to share with our sons and we hope to receive pictures from Anne ❤️
    Thanks Picos. de Aventura 🐬🐬🐬

This was one of the most amazing activities I’ve had the fortune of experiencing. The centre was brilliant and knew exactly what they were doing - Reta was extremely informative and the manager was a delight. Would definitely come back with these guys again, and would recommend to anyone travelling to the Azores to come to Picos De Aventura for a life-changing swim with dolphins. Thank you all so much and hope to see you again soon!

Incredible experience. Don’t expect that the dolphins will come up and play with you. Rather they stream past and you see them quickly while wearing goggles. Still magical. You also see them swimming in huge pods past the boat. This is not an experience for anyone who is afraid of swimming in open ocean. The boat trip is thrilling but very bumpy. We had 4 opportunities to be in the water and watch mothers with babies and larger pods swim past and under. The guide said this may be discontinued next year as they feel it is too stressful for the dolphins to be chased.

We went on a trio to swim with dolphins, and Marcel and Joao, where two amazing guides, they told us interesting facts, took extra time to see whales and look for a curious bunch of dolphins. We had fun and were stunned by nature at the same time. Thank you for making this possible.

We went on an early morning tour today with our family group of 8 alone on a Zodiac. No words can describe what we experienced. We got the chance to be in the middle of a group of common dolphins for a couple of seperate times, seeing them travel at first but later also seeing them hunt a baitball of small fish that we were litteraly in the middle of and on a next plunge we finally saw a group of some 40 dolphins resting and looking at us from a couple of meters beneath. We were told that we were really lucky and that encounters can be a lot less intimate, but of course we were over the rainbow. On the way back we spotted another group really close to the harbour and were told to go back in the water. This group behaved more shy and again we got to see a group of some 20 animals and a couple of babies really good for a short time. Big thanx to guide and skipper Alex and Natalia for a memory of a lifetime!!

This was an amazing experience the captain of the boat put us right with the dolphins, and our guide Ana was very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly to all the guests, she is awesome. The guides are marine biologists and they put the safety of the guests and the dolphins first. Once you’re in the water you the hear the dolphins clicking first, and then they swim right up to you and I’m telling you it’s absolutely magical ! Would definitely do this again loved the whole experience, Cheers !

Lara and Marcelo are two people that after two trips I would consider friends. They work seamlessly together and keep all of their guests aware of everything going on. The experience as a whole exemplified what good customer service is through every aspect of the trip. They have sincere passion for the ocean, the life in it and the Azores and it creates a very enjoyable environment for anyone on the boat with them. Our 7 year old Maddy was incredibly nervous about getting in the water. The solution offered was both Lara and Marcelo would guide her and swim with her if that’s what it would take for a good experience. I can not express how much I love this company. One day we will be back and we will do another adventure with them.

    To Lara and Marcelo,
We appreciate and admire you guys. Thank you for making our trip memorable.

    Warm Regards,
    Charles, Michelle & Maddy
