About
If you have accepted the challenge of climbing Pico Mountain, congratulations!
With us, the climb will be at your pace with a dedicated Guide. Calm down because we have all day just for you.
Meeting at the "Mountain House", if you do not want "transfer included", it is time to check if we all have the proper equipment, protection, food, water and of course, the camera.
Our guide will accompany you along a trail, much of it in very irregular volcanic rock, which will require some effort and care. . Reaching the summit, the effort is rewarded by breathtaking, breathtaking landscapes.
First the crater, then the last stage: the Piquinho. This, with its 70 m high, will give more "fight" but inevitable to achieve the goal: 2351 m altitude, the highest point of the island of Pico, the Azores and Portugal. You will also see the 'fumaroles' that show the grandeur of the (dormant) volcano.
Land Tours wishes you a good climb!

- CatarinaferaH2725KF0 contributionsA full day around the gorgeous Sao Jorge! This was a very informative and beautiful tour that shows great parts of Sao Jorge Island. In my humble opinion, Sao Jorge is one of the prettiest islands in the Azores and in the full day tour we got to see really cool and beautiful places. It was very helpful as I couldn't rent a car. Our guide was Derek and he was very clear, patience and took really good care of the group. I highly recommend it!Written September 1, 2023
- CatarinaferaH2725KF0 contributionsMy best and most beautiful hike in the Azores!I went on this tour with Dalila, the owner's daughter, as I'm injured and didn't want to adventure on my own just in case. This was probably one of the most rewarding experiences of my month of travels in the Azores. Sao Jorge is definitely a very special island and this hike made it even more special. The walk is full of beauty, great views, amazing flora, pretty birds and a gorgeous and very clean waterfall, it feels like an untouched paradise. Dalila was very generous and patient with me, she understood that I had to go very slowly and took my time, she even carried my lunch on her backpack. Even that she is the younger guide I had, she was the best and you can feel the love she has for her island and the passion she puts in her work. It was a very unique and special experience. I highly recommend it!Written September 1, 2023
- 703zoef0 contributions10/10 - a Sao Jorge must! This full day tour was the best was to see and celebrate all that is on the island of Sao Jorge! Our guide Nuno was kind, knowledgeable & made sure we never missed a moment of beauty or excitement throughout the day! Seeing the whole island, North, South, East & West - from tasting the Sao Jorge cheeses&visiting the factory, to swimming in natural pools, every stop along the way were well thought out and destinations you don’t want to miss! Even though the weather on Sao Jorge can be unpredictable, the rainy parts were just as wonderful to be in as the sunshine & our guide planned accordingly along with how the clouds were moving to make sure the trip was the best it could be! Added bonus: this tour picking guests up from their places of stay & dropping us all back off at the end ! 10/10 would recommend & do it all over again when I (hopefully) find my way back to Sao Jorge again in the future!Written August 22, 2023
- cpixok0 contributionsA great day awaits you with Land ToursWe had a fantastic day with Nuno. He picked us up promptly and shared knowledge of his beautiful island. He was respectful and courteous. We lived meeting São Jorge through his eyes. He was knowledgeable about the stops during the day, wild life, fishing, natural swimming pools …Written July 14, 2023
- Leaving_footsteps0 contributionsOne of the best tours I have had and Jaime the best guide!Since I had only one day I booked this tour with the hope to see as much as possible. Well, Jaime’s tour definitely exceeded my expectations. He took me to all the most interesting places around the island from one end to the other without looking at the time and shared his deep knowledge about the history, geology and cultural aspects of the island and the Azores in general. I cannot recommend it enough!! I can’t wait to go back to the island and take more tours with his company! Can’t beat it. Thank you so much, Jaime!!Written May 2, 2023
- Jozefien290 contributionsThanks to this guide we had a fantastic time in Sao Jorge!!We - a group of 6 - had a fantastic time in Sao Jorge thanks to the guide Jaime. The guide is born and raised in Sao Jorge and knows a lot about the island. He talked to us about the earthquakes and volcano eruptions, the cows, the cheese, the formation of the lagoons, the climate, the vegetation, the clams, fishing,.. Jaime showed us all the hidden secrets of the island. He recommended a walking trail to us that we did the next day. A trail with hidden caves and waterfalls. Really one of the most beautiful walking trails we did in the Azores. At the end of the day we invited the guide to join us for dinner. We went to one of the best local restaurant. The guide was very responsive, an excellent communicator. In short, it was a great experience!Written July 28, 2021
- Pauwelsstefaan0 contributionsLand tourA very passionate guide, our group loved him. He shared his knowledge about the island, showed us the most beautiful places. Also the walk the second day was astonishing. It was like Jurrasic Parc.Written July 28, 2021
- daccjist0 contributionsMemorable Sao Jorge Tour!Jaime is an amazing tour guide! He is extremely knowledgeable about everything Sao Jorge and knows all the popular spots as well as local gems. He has a wealth of information and contacts in the Azores. From the best coffee spots, shortcuts and adventure sports (land and water) - Jaime is your guide! Furthermore, He is very punctual and helpful. I was traveling during the holidays where most tourist sites are closed. My next stop was Pico and he reached out to a local contact who helped me with my next tour. He is very genuine. I highly recommend this tour. Thank you Jaime! Until next time!! P.S. He takes great pictures too!!Written December 28, 2019
- Explore591868763050 contributionsHiking the AzoresTour guide Jaime is the best. We took a couple of hikes on some gorgeous, challenges trails. He took us swimming, and little did we know that when we got to the amazing swimming spot that he was going to pull out snorkeling gear. It turned out to be an absolutely jaw-dropping experience!Written October 15, 2019

- Y1589CLedwardc0 contributionsOutstanding tourThis was a very thorough, beautiful, and interesting tour with many stops and opportunities to walk, take photos, and even swim! Jaime the guide, who is also an adventure guide, was extremely knowledgeable regarding island geological, ecological, and cultural history. His family has been on Sao Jorge for many generations. Jaime is also a great source of information regarding other activities on Sao Jorge and in the Azores in general. I recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your visit as it will inform the rest of your stay in the Azores.Written June 28, 2019

Great and VERY challenging trip with Jaime from Land Tours.
Planning worked perfectly with Jaime. We were pucked up 7AM at our house and drove to Pico trail head.
The trail is very challenging. You are walking on rocks 90% of the time. 5% climbing and 5% normal paths.
The last climb to the crater is VERY steep and takes about 20 min. The view is amazing. But you need to be prepared for the challenge. Our children (aged 14, 15, 18) are fit and where wearing fitness and running sneakers. My wife and I had trekking shoes. If I had known the difficulty of this trail, I would have forced them to wear proper shoes.
The full trail is 8 km. We did it in 6:45h. It was way more challenging, than we had imagined. On trail maps this is marked as Hard. I would say it is Hard+... But the view and surrounding is breathtaking.
Enjoy! 🥾🗻🧗♀️

Hello, I am interested in hiking Mount Pico on Aug 22 or 23. Is it possible with you? I would also need transport from my accommodation. Thank you!
