Really interesting selection of foods including local bars and cafes. We sauntered along the streets looking as historic buildings and our guide was charming.

This is the best food tour I’ve experienced in nearly 15 years of consistent travelling. Esther our guide was incredible! From the historical background to the choice of authentic Portuguese dishes, and libations, the tour was phenomenal. Her providing context to each dish and drink was fascinating and enhanced the entire experience. I highly recommend this specific tour several times over. Enjoy!!!

This was such an interesting and enjoyable evening of dining and chatting and learning about the culture. Joao made the tour fun with his humour and friendly style. It was a great group from various countries, Switzerland, USA, Canada, Guernsey and Sweden. Went to places we would never have found otherwise. Highly recommended

We had a lovely walk with Esther - great stops with friendly locals and really good food. Plenty and interesting food, some of which we would not have tried on our own. Good food is generally cheap in Faro, nevertheless these qualities of the tour make up for a somewhat pricy cost. Also, Esther is very knowledgable and shared so many interesting facts and stories. She is a most competent guide, including how she balanced giving us time alone to enjoy the food and each other (we were the only 2 people on this tour) with sharing her easy and interesting company.

The walking food tour was fun. The restaurants served a variety of Portuguese dishes with wine or beer. We also learned a bit of Faro history. On other food tours we also learned the history behind the food, which would also be interesting.

We met Ester at the meeting point and it was pure fun from there. She spent some time explaining the history of Faro as we walked to our first stop. I don't want to ruin any of the surprises, but the food and drink at every stop were FABULOUS. I am an avid wine drinker, while my husband doesn't drink any wine. Ester was kind enough to get him beer at each of the stops (He's a Sagres fan now!). He is also a fairly picky eater, but loved almost every food item he was served. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening filled with great food and fellowship!! Do NOT miss this tour!!!

The tour and the concept is great. The food and drinks (we had wine) is also nice. Not extraordinary but local, and after all that's the point. Our guide smoked cigarrette(s) during the tour without asking the participants if it was ok (both my wife and myself have a hard time with the smoke), and frankly spoken, that should not happen during a guided tour. It gives a feeling of ignorance, whether it was intentional or not. The tour is quite a bit overpriced. Nice but expensive. These are the reasons for not rating it higher than 3 stars.

Phenomenal! Ester was welcoming, funny, and a ball of energy! The food was delicious and plentiful and enough drinks for everyone to get tipsy. My favourite dish was the bacalhaus a bras - a bowl of simple ingredients yet flavourful! I highly recommend this tour for anyone in the area that wants an introduction to Portuguese cuisine/dishes

Great night with new friends great food and drinks, lots of laughs. Thanks to Esther the evening was seamless. A must for food and drinks fans who want inside knowledge of the history of faro and of the local food and drinks.

Excellent experience- we all left this tour feeling very full and having tried such a variety of DELICIOUS Portuguese food. I’d recommend this tour to anyone, especially early in your trip so you can familiarize yourself with the town as well as learn a few things about Portugal’s history. Great tour!

If you are a meat person, this is the food tour for you. The guide also is local and gives you a historical tour of the buildings and different museums. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Ester was our guide and she was awesome! All of the locations and food tastings were amazing! Our small group had a great time with Ester and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was a great way to sample and see Faro and I would highly recommend!

This was a great food tour! Luis was very informative about Portuguese history, culture, and food and made this a great tour. He took us to the market and lovely restaurants -- all were great.

My husband and I really enjoyed our time with Joaio along with the local restaurants. We tried razor clams, Portuguese moonshine, mussels, fish soup with stingray, wine, and dessert with port. All delicious…well maybe not the moonshine—it packs a punch! Also the tour of the municipal market was great! We returned to many of the stops on the tour and bought goodies from the Market Maven, Maria. It was a lovely afternoon!
