We took the combo Eco system/bird watching and 3 beaches with Hop on/ Hop off islands and had a beautiful professionally guided tour by Thomas a young biologist who fell in love with the Ria Formosa national park. The time we spent with Thomas flew so fast and was so instructive that the least I can do is to highly recommend this attraction to everyone, I couldn't have enough.
We spent the rest of the day visiting Farol and Culatra and returned to Faro before sunset.

Everything about my experience with animaris was perfect. It’s the third time I go to them to visit the nearby islands of Faro, and I can’t imagine going to someone else. The boats are great, but above all, the guides/skippers are really amazing, they treat the customers with utmost care, they are kind and funny, and they know a lot about the nature and ecosystem. You can tell that every person is really passionate about the environment. I can’t recommend them enough

In the dock area there are a few companies vrying for business. We chose Animaris after being recommended. Took the ferry boat across to Ilha Desserta (40mins) and took a walk around it starting on the beach then onto the rolling boardwalk through the dunes. It took us a comfortable 90 mins.
Speedboat to Ilha Farol and stumbled across at A do Joao restaurant for lunch which is well worth finding. You may need to book in high season. Did not bother with Ilha da Culatra. Speedboat back to Faro which took a brisk and thrilling 15 mins. Afterwards spent an hour or so walking the streets of Faro Old Town.
The drivers were professional and humorous which all added to the fun.

We had a very good time on the hop on hop off island trip. The speed boats are fantastic! The staffs are all very nice! The best thing is, there are boats in each island hourly, you can plan your time to stay in different islands. You do not need to rush to catch the boat which is very flexible. Highly recommend!

Great day out. Well worth the money. Food on Culatra was some of the best we had in Faro.
Ribs are great, perfect way to wizz around the Islands.
Booked with João Fernandes at the port who was very informative and explained and advised everything perfectly.

Excellent day out. One usually-sea-sick traveller who didn’t feel unwell once. Two kids who loved the speed between islands and especially on the last stretch back to Faro. And a husband who just held all the life jackets tightly!! Departed Faro at 10.30am. First stop Ilha Deserta- we came off the boat and turned right to walk all along the boardwalks. Excellent sea and sand banks to walk out to. Loads of shells. Walked all the way in the sea round the tip. At the end went to the restaurant for WC and takeaway snacks. Had we turned left off the boat (behind the restaurant) wider sandy beach with parasols and beds to hire but we liked the rugged landscape for a change. Stop 2 was a lovely island. Water a bit more choppy on the beach but a totally different experience to stop 1. Didn’t stay long on stop 3. Beach at the end of the island was a llllooonngg walk and 4yo tired by then (3pm). Stopped for fab waffles with Nutella and Ferrero Rocher ice cream - yum! Then 4pm hop-on boat back to Faro for 4.30pm. Superb staff. Really helped and made it fun for the kids. €75 for us as under 4yo is free. Booked on line so no ticket required. Take your snorkel. Would highly recommend this day out.
