My partner, our 15 year old son and I took an evening segway tour of the Ria Formosa and Quinta de Lago last night- what an amazing experience! Nelson was an experienced, fun and knowledgeable guide. He was very safety conscious, making sure that we were sufficiently competent before removing the speed limiters, pointing out any hazards that we should avoid, and giving us (well, me!) help when it was needed. He taught us about flamingoes, salt flats, Roman ruins, carob trees, and of course, which celebrity had stayed/ owned which house in Quinta de Lago :D All in all we travelled about 15km over 90 minutes, and compared to other segway experiences we've had in the UK, Nelson's tour had us fully engrossed and provided really good value for money.

I would highly recommend Nelson and Algarve by Segway; we can't wait to go on another tour with him next summer!

Holiday highlight
Andre was a fantastic guide for one of the highlights of our holiday in Olhäo. He was not only informative but made it a lot of fun whilst feeling very safe at the same time pointing out any uneven ground or tree roots etc.
We would not hesitate to recommend this Segway tour and my husband would add that seeing planes taking of from the airport was an added bonus!

Very enthusiastic guide with extensive knowledge of the nature and the residential area on the tour. We enjoyed his company very much.
The tour it self is well planned and offers great experiences throughout the duration. Good balances between moving and information stops.
The Segway is a great way of traveling a good distance in a short time and it's very easy to operate.

Best activity in the Algarve
Amazing- we loved our tour with Nelson today. We met Nelson at Quinta do Lago for a brilliant Segway tour. This totally exceeded our expectations. Our tour consisted of Roman ruins, nature reserve, salt beds and the lovely Quinta, plus great fun doing this on Segway. This was the highlight of our holiday. It’s also easy to use, Nelson gives you an intro to get you started and you feel very confident on the Segway quickly.

It was super interesting and fun. Nelson is such a nice and friendly guy. He even took my mobile and took loads of photos and videos of us- such a nice touch.

My 11 and 12 year olds really enjoyed it and want to do another tour with Nelson! We just wished we had booked this at the start of our holiday and not the end as could have done another one of his tours! We will definitely be back next year.

We highly recommend this- I can’t believe I’ve been coming here so many years and only just experienced this.

Worth every penny for a fabulous 1 hr 1/2 fabulous tour.

Ria Formosa Fun!
We have used Algarve Segway three times now and twice this year and thoroughly recommend using them. Andres was so helpful and informative all through the tour and our friends both time’s really enjoyed it. The apprehensive ones in the group were looked after perfectly and reassured that they were safe. Great way to see the flamingoes and the wildlife while getting some sun and laughs thrown in.

My husband and I and our 2 teenage children did the Monchique tour with Algarve by Segway 2 years ago, so we already knew that Nelson and André are both extremely friendly, yet professional guys. As my son's girlfriend was visiting, we decided to treat her to a segway tour. We chose to do the Monchique tour again, but unfortunately, soon after setting off, there was a problem with one of the segways. André swapped his segway with the problem one which was very slow and consequently was not able to keep up with the rest of us. Although my family and I still enjoyed the tour, for the inconvenience, Nelson offered us a complimentary tour of the Rio Formosa, which we considered to be a very generous gesture. We have now done 3 tours with Algarve by Segway, always with André as our guide, and we all throughly enjoyed the tours and André's company. We would not hesitate to recommend Algarve by Segway to anybody.

Highly recommended - a lovely way to see a different side of Faro

A lovely, fun and unique experience. Andres was very conscientious and took time to show us how to use the segways and we felt safe and confident. He was careful to point out how to navigate more tricky points on the tour - not that there was anything too challenging. The park is beautiful and the tour also took us through some of the most elite parts of Faro which you don't get to see otherwise. Andres was knowledgeable and had lots of informative stories and a great sense of humour. I would not say that this was a bird-watching tour but we certainly saw lots of different species; I imagine it would be amazing during the migrations. Andres was very respectful of the reserve and of other users. Everything about our interaction with Algarve Segways felt comfortable and authentic (no touristic manufactured/pressurised "fun") and Nelson and Andres were very helpful and great communications when we were making the booking and finalising times/dates etc.

Accident on Segway

Last July my family & I were staying in Quinta do Lago & booked a tour. Our guide Nelson was lovely. 2 adults & 2 children ages 11 & 14. Although we were all keeping a good distance from each other on the Segways, about half way through the tour my youngest daughter stopped her Segway suddenly and we crashed. Both of us were quite badly hurt. My Segway actually ended up off the road on top of me, they are very heavy! No broken bones but both of us had several really bad cuts & bruises, quite a bit of blood. Nelson used some wipes & sterile lotion to clean some of the cuts but in general played down the whole accident. We were both very sore & bruised for days afterwards. At the time I was embarrassed about the fall & my review just said how lovely our guide & tour was (which it was at the start) In hindsight I feel it important to let people know how easy it is to come off one of these things and if you do it is not nice. My family will not be getting on a Segway ever again.

This was my 5th segway tour and was just as enjoyable as the first.. my friends always want to do this when they visit!
Andre, our guide was just as informative as always and even took us around a few extra streets to look at the beautiful houses around the golf course...
We all enjoyed our trip very much...

Definitely recommend
We took this tour starting in La Quinta and it was really fun. Andre took the time to get us started but also helped us navigate the wetter and rooted paths so we didn’t fall off!
It was a beautiful day on the Ludo trail, we saw the flamingos along the way and other birdlife before finishing on a tour of ‘Beverly Hills’ of Portugal. Out time was over all too quickly but I’d really recommend taking this tour either from La Quinta or Faro, it’s well worth it.
