Once you get out on the water, relax as your guide takes you to areas to see views of the nearby sandstone cliffs. Head toward Carvoeiro Beach, and get the chance to explore the caves. Afterward, your guide knows some of the best places to spot dolphins. A sighting is not 100-percent guaranteed, but you can possibly see two types of dolphins, common dolphins and bottlenose dolphins. If you do spot them, chances are they’ll be swimming close to your boat in their natural habitat. Your guided tour ends when your boat reaches the Albufeira Marina and docks.

The meeting point will be @ Gate 4 Café in Marina de Albufeira. You have to be there 30min prior to the schedualed departure.

High speed dolphin searching and cave and coast exploration
A two part trip, first to explore along the coast and a brief entry into the caves (new regulations brought in this summer) then out to look for dolphins. Unfortunately we didn’t see any but not for lack of trying, the crew really tried! All this at high speeds and turns. Can be pretty bumpy especially at the front where we only found out once we were seated but all good! Be quick if you want your photos (due to cave entry regulations) and choose your seats wisely for the high speeds. Great crew and a nice exploration along the coast!

Got to see lots of dolphins!
My sister and I went on the Dreamer tour and it was money very well spent! We began the trip with going off the coast to go dolphin watching and we were not disappointed at all. Once we found the dolphins we were able to watch them for about 15 minutes before heading back to the coast. We were able to go into many caves including the most famous Benagil cave and our crew, Diogo and Filipa were very informative about what we were seeing! We had a chance to jump in the water as well. Our captain Pedro also made the boat ride as comfortable as possible. Overall it was a great afternoon and I would most definitely recommend!

Thrill seeking and friendly tour guides
I went with my girlfriend and we had the best time, scary but it was so good. Highly recommend if you are an adrenaline junkie. On top of that our tour guides Daniel and Boots were funny and great at their jobs!

      Disaster
I recently went on a boat tour that was a complete disappointment. After arriving early, we were told to stand at the back of the line while a larger group was given priority. As a result, we ended up with the worst seats on the boat. To make matters worse, the boat itself had two metal bars at the front, making it nearly impossible to take decent photos. It felt like a complete tourist trap. We also questioned whether dolphins were actually spotted frequently, as it seemed more like a gimmick to attract tourists. Save your money and opt for a smaller boat with fewer passengers instead. I highly advise against buying tickets for this tour.

      10/10
A fantastic activity for while you’re visiting the Algarve! The boat ride is fun, the music set a great vibe. Bruno, our tour guide, was 10/10 - he made the tour super fun and was very attentive to everyone on board. Sadly, we didn’t see any dolphins due to the weather letting us down, but it was still great. Muito obrigada por uma ótima experiência!

      A must have experience 10/10
The Dreamer Boat trip was a wonderful experience and I would thoroughly recommend. The crew were having fun with all tourists on board and riding the turbulent waves was really fun. We would have had a great time regardless if we saw any dolphins or not; we saw around a dozen and it was such a magical experience seeing the graceful creatures in the wild. The caves were also a wonderful natural beauty.

Slightly disappointed by the tour... was a bit more expensive than others, but I decided to pay as I’d seen they had a fair amount of good reviews (and many more dolphin sightings). The guides were friendly and the tour of the coast line was very nice, but I felt like it was quite a rush to see things - especially Benagil Caves, which we were in for approximately 1 minute before we backed out and were on our way. I thought the boat would at least go to the shore so you could take a picture but we hovered in the entrance and then left, which was disappointing.

Then for the dolphin tour, we zigzagged for an hour away from the shore and saw nothing - I know this is never a guarantee but it did feel disappointing, given that it was a clear day, calm sea and in the peak of the recommended season. I did think it would’ve been better to look for the dolphins first (we went early in the morning as I know this is when dolphins are most active) but instead we did the caves for an hour, then the dolphins.

Once we were back at shore we were simply waved off - I think there should be some incentive if you don’t see a dolphin (ie half off another trip) as this is something I’ve experienced from other boat trips. It just felt like a waste of €70 odd euros for two people and in future I would probably book elsewhere. Nonetheless we still enjoyed ourselves, I just feel a bit gutted at the price we paid for a pretty average experience.

I have a very mixed review of our experience on the Insomnia tour (the smaller semi-rigid boat). Check in and boarding was very organised, COVID-safe, and the tour guides and captain were very nice. We were very unlucky with the sea conditions that day, as it was very windy, which meant larger waves and a bumpy ride. We were warned of the wind and offered jackets onboard, and that we would get a bit wet. At the start of the ride, things were going well, but once we hit the larger waves, we were soaking wet as the waves hit the side of the boat multiple times! There was a layer of water in the boat which meant our bag was also drenched. While some bumps and a bit of splash can be fun, that was not the case.
Unfortunately my wife was feeling very poorly with all the motion and we had to abort the tour before we hit the caves. The crew was very attentive and managed to contact the Dreamer boat that was returning to the marina to rescue us. The larger boat was very smooth and we really appreciate the effort to help us.
While I do understand that sea conditions are not 100% predictable, the crew had just returned from a previous tour and knew how things were. I don’t believe it was safe to run the smaller boat tour in those conditions and wish we were given a more explicit warning before boarding and offered to either reschedule our tour or change it to the Dreamer boat.

I was optimistic beforehand despite reading the negative reviews. Being one of the first to line up to board the boat, we patiently waited until we were told to be seated. However after half the boat was seated we were told that me and my girlfriend couldn’t sit together because we had to accommodate for a couple who had a bad back... Not happy at the get go and we had paid for a couple experience for us to enjoy together, unfortunately not. The speed, choppy water, and cold/wet experience is not something I would do again. It was not fun and struggled to not be sick. Coupled with having to sit next to someone with BO. I could wait to get back to shore after 30 mins. We hardly saw the caves. There was not many stops at the caves and they didn’t even go very far into the caves. And yes like many others there were no dolphins to be seen. Don’t waste 2 hours, you will regret it.

Hello Ray L, Firstly, I wanted to Thank-you for bringing this issue to my attention. We strive at Dream Wave for all our guests to have an experience that exceeds their expectations, however, unfortunately, there may be times when we are slightly away from our intention. This is why we appreciate all forms of feedback, good or bad, so we can sort any issues in the future. Safety is our priority. We will only enter caves when sea conditions are safe. Otherwise we will not. We are sorry the dolphins did not appear. We always do our best to find dolphins, but at times they just don't want to appear. In February we have hot and also cooler days. Unfortunately the day you selected was colder and the sea was not in its normal conditions. To prevent this ever happening again, we will reorganize our procedures and do understand your concerns. I would like to apologise for you not being impressed. Kind Regards,

I booked a seat on Dream Wave's Insonia - Caves & Dolphin Watching experience during my stay in Albufeira and enjoyed a fantastic two hour voyage taking in some unbelievable views of the caves, mostly which can only be accessed by boat. While Insonia was a smaller boat, it still offered a good ride and the boat's crew provided a good running commentary as we went along. We missed spotting any dolphins on the day, so the final 30 minutes descended into a rapid blast across the bay, which left me soaked. Fortunately I'd packed my valuables in a waterproof bag and would encourage other passengers to do the same before stepping aboard.

Incredible trip, amazing photo opportunities but as a family with 2 young children, I would discourage anyone from going with anyone under 10. The sea was very choppy, and both my 5 and 8 year old were very scared and spent most of the trip with their heads hiding inside their life jackets. I wouldn't recommend for anyone over about 70 either, I think "0-99" is pushing it a bit. Additionally, you don't get to choose which boat you're going on, or at least, we didn't, we assumed a 2 hour boat ride would include a toilet on board as every other ride we've done like it included one. Luckily the kids were OK to wait until we got back to dry land. I would have liked to go further in to the cave at Benagil, but assuming it's a safety/conservation rule that prevents that.

I would say both Jamie/Jaime (our guide) and Rafael(driver) were brilliant and Jamie had us in hysterics with his commentary, so credit where its due, and as I say, the views were absolutely breathtaking and...we DID see 4 bottlenose dolphins, apparently the only boat out at the same time as us that got to see them! So a brilliant trip all in all, I just wouldn't have done it with the kids had I know how choppy it would be!

We had the best time on this boat trip! We was given a 10% off voucher to use in the cafe before setting off which was a nice touch and had lovely selection of smoothies and cocktails and food etc.. we then boarded the boat trip, we had a young child so boarded the boat first and was asked what language we speak and was very welcoming and friendly the whole time. We had Diago, Bruno and Pedro on the boat and they was very fun! Showed us videos of things they have seen whilst out at sea and gave us a list of recommendations of what to do for the rest of the holiday. My daughter couldn't see the dolphins when everyone stood up so they took her straight to the front and let her have the best view of the boat.. we was very lucky to have a nice calm day at sea and got to see the dolphins! Who enjoyed putting on a show for us.. the caves was explained very well and was beautiful to see .. we thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would recommend it to everyone!!

Absolutely loved our trip speeding along the coastline on the boat from cave to cave. Our captain and guide were fantastic and told us enough about each cave that we got some information but weren't overwhelmed and could sit back and take in the views and snap plenty of photos. We were worried we were going to miss out on seeing the dolphins but on our way back we were treated to a pod by the bay which was amazing!

The only little thing I'd say is that it's a bit chaotic at the gate as they are boarding so many different trips and boats which are all sold out so make sure you pay attention to the staff calling out the trips and you'll be fine.

I would recommend booking in advance as when we did the day before, most time slots were full and we were lucky to get a place. Overall a great trip and well worth the money.

I booked this last minute as a lot of the other tour operators had no available space for a 2pm trip the following day & I was a little sceptical of the boat. However, I am glad we did. We are a family of 4 with 2 girls 7 & 8. The guide and captain were very friendly and informative & advised us that they would take us to the location they last saw the dolphins but if anyone came over the radio with a better location they would take us there. Once we left the marina they opened the throttle on the boat & it sped over the waves which was really fun. Once we reached the location the crew spotted the dolphin pod diving right in front of us which a few of us on the boat saw, unfortunately after circling for 20 minutes we did not see them again (they are wild and I guess they weren't in the mood), but this did not distract from the trip. The caves were great and we were able to jump off the boat for a quick swim on the way back. For the price/time out on the water, we thought it was good value and would book with them again.

The team at Dream Wave were absolutely amazing. My partner and I booked this trip though the “Get Your Guide” app. The payment and booking possess was quick and simple. When we arrived at the attraction we were given a free coffee or bottle of water voucher to use within their marina cafe.

After we were given our free beverage we were met by Jamie and Daniel, our speed boats tour guide and driver. Both were extremely professional, with a good sense of humour to keep everybody entertained.

Jamie and Daniel put every effort in possible to ensure that we all had an outstanding experience looking out for, and finally finding some dolphins just 30 mins into the trip.

The views were absolutely incredible, we managed to get right up close to some dolphins, and right inside some of the caves around the Portugal coastline.

We were offered a photograph of the start of the trip, for just 10€ which for the quality of the photo, with a frame included, we thought was a pretty good price.

    Thanks for a fantastic trip.
We’ll definitely be returning for another trip.

Disappointing! We spent a lot of time looking for the dolphins, in the end we glimpsed them, but we still stopped for just over 10 minutes to photograph them, also because as soon as our boat stopped to see them, 2 other boats arrived at speed, full of people. We returned towards the coast and the tour was really very hasty, first we looked out at the Belagil cave for 5 minutes by the clock (personally verified before and after by seeing the time of my photos), not even arriving at Alfanzina (expected from the tour), after which we passed Marinha at a great distance and without stopping, we were told "this is Marinha if you want you can see it by kayak", we then arrived at Submarino where we stopped for about 3 minutes, we saw Sr. Da Rocha passing from afar and we weren't even told, just like Castelo (all stops included in the tour), we were asked if we wanted to take a "quick" bath (I quote) shortly after, but noone wanted, after which we always saw Sao Rafael very quickly from afar (the whole tour was so far) and then returned at great speed to the port, arriving even 12 minutes before the scheduled time. The €29 mentioned on the internet for this tour would have been much more than enough, but we paid €45 directly at the port and for this price, it is not worth it and I do not recommend the tour. Rather, rent a kayak and enjoy the tour of the coasts. It's probably not the fault of the on-board staff, who were nice and friendly, but of those in charge of the organisation.

We would like to remind you that we are at our peak season the amount of people in The Algarve is large and at times we do our best but due to the so many boats, kayaks, paddle boards, swimmers, etc… it is not possible more. We highly recommend you visit the Algarve and all other big seasonal destinations off season. As you mentioned you viewed dolphins, the benagil cave, marinha beach, Sra. Da Rocha, Castelo beach, Submarine. Due to the high demand at the benagil cave all boats are recommended by local authorities to stay a maximum of 2 minutes (time for photos). And no one is authorised to go on the beach. Yes, many are not respecting the authorities ate the moment, which is a very unrespected act. The measures are for safety and preservation of the site. The Dolphin watching is something we respect very much. The authorities recommend a maximum of 15 minutes each boat near the dolphins. You were there that amount of time. This is to avoid stressing the animals in their natural habitat, We understand that everyone wants to stay more time. if do not understand this we are sorry. At this time of year many swimmers, swim big distances from the beaches, to avoid incidents all boats must navigate 300m from the beaches. Once again some people do not respect this. We do! That is why you say the tour was so far. Disppoining is your lack of knowledge and ease in criticizing what we are doing correctly. We have always and will continue to respect authorities, safety and preservation measures. We apologise for not exceeding your expectation.
