      Exhibits on Chocolate
We had fun looking at the exhibits here, all about chaocolate, which is so important in this city. And we enjoyed some chocolate treats here as well. Nice to support a place devoted to one of the reasons why we love to visit Belgium, the great chocolates.

5 star, unlimited chocolate need I say more.....
Amazing 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 All you can eat chocolaye, need I say more? My favourite museum by far and that's saying a lot! I work in museums so expect a lot of fun and value. Loads for kids but also adults to explore and see There is a game feature in each room along with learning all about chocolate Highly recommend and can't wait to go back

Awful rude lady on reception & a waste of time/money!
The rudest member of staff I have ever encountered!!! Family of 4 - 2 adults, 1 toddler & 1 baby. They won’t allow you to take the pram in which is fine but they also won’t allow you to take your bag in so we have to leave all the baby stuff at the entrance where everyone walks past. It was a waste of $52 for a boring walk round & incredibly rude staff with no customer service skills. Don’t bother visiting as it’s a waste of time.

      A Good Multi-Lingual Museum
We did not pre-book our tickets for the Choco Story but the wait on a very wet weekend in early January was not long. They offer pre-booking and package deals if you are also planning on visiting some of the other museums in Bruges. They looked like good value, but wouldn't have worked for us with the short amount of time we were in town. The Choco Story is a self guided tour which takes approximately 90 minutes; there are some fixed information boards around the museum but most information comes from the handheld audio guides that you swipe at various points around the exhibits. Language-wise you can choose Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Russian. In English, and I imagine at least Dutch and French too, they had an adult and a child audio version which works well for families. The range of exhibits was interesting, focussing on the history of chocolate, both worldwide and in Belgium. There are interactive games in some of the rooms, and a silly photo spot at the end which our daughter thought was great fun. We all enjoyed the self-serve samples at the end, and the demonstration was interesting too. Overall, an excellent way to spend a couple of hours on a rainy day and a very well thought out museum that caters well to a linguistically diverse audience. We had a great time.

      Chocolate history with tasting
Pre-booking is essential in our opinion. We pre booked and waited 10 minutes for the doors to be reopened by the staff due to overcrowding in the museum. The queue for general admission was very long and i imagine they waited a long time for entry. The museum itself was quite small and compact and got slightly cramped at times. The audio guide to scan at various points during the museum allowed you to take the tour at your own pace. The praline demonstration was informative and enjoyable. Free chocolate buttons of various flavours were available.

Lovely museum well laid out with lots of interesting information
Family of 5 with 3 kids14,12,10 bought tickets on the spot was relatively quiet. Really enjoyed the museum and kids were interested throughout. Nice blend of media to interact with and follows the story of chocolate to present day. Ending up with a demo of making pralines. Was much nicer and more engaging than I was expecting we stayed for about 2 hours in total. Well worth a little visit in our opinion

      Rude staff
Staff were rude. All tours were full so they said we could book online for later that day. We stood out of the way as it was raining and logged on. We were just about to finish when a member of staff, quite aggressively said "you can do that outside, we have a group coming in". There was no-one else even near the building and because is that both myself and my partner thought "nope we aren't spending any money here, on her".

      Wouldn’t rush back
Visited here in September, lots of facts etc about chocolate obviously. Good for children! I went in on the day not sure of cheaper online. Don’t expect loads of chocolate freebies! There was a chocolate demonstration but wasn’t for another hour! Wouldn’t rush back

      Underwhelming
Pros: chocolate samples, demonstrations, lots to see. Cons: overpriced, slightly boring (maybe that’s because of how the information is presented - with your own handheld audio device), very busy, not accessible with lots of stairs. If you’re really interested in the history of chocolate then it’s worth a visit, if not don’t bother really. Just go and spend the €14 on some chocolate instead.

All you ever wanted to know about chocolate!
An interesting museum that as suggested takes you through the story of chocolate and its arrival in Europe. Well put together, although I think we were both happy to get to the end of the commentary, a bit of information overload!

Informative experience with a chocolate treat!
A really interesting exhibition that talks you through the history of chocolate. Lots of antique chocolate related items on display are really interesting. The visual explanations about where chocolate comes from and how it’s made are good but would be even better if you could have seen this process in real life. Was good value for money and chocolate tasting of dark, milk, amber and white chocolate was a nice treat! We watched the 10 minute demo at the end and tasted a praline. Interesting but left wanting to understand the process more deeply.

I was so incredibly bored on the tour... But the chocolate workshop is great fun
This is a challenging review to give... I'd give the museum 1 star and I'd give the chocolate workshop 5 stars... So If you go, make sure to pay the bit extra and do the workshop. Museum - Dated. You get small handheld info speakers. You are expected to scan all the displays and the very very very boring man (in English) describes what you are looking at. I've never heard someone talk for so long about teapots and their handles. - The scanner to get in didn't work until the 10th attempt. - There are game machines throughout for kids. Only two of them worked with our scanners. Considering the History Museum in Brugge is so good and interactive, Choco story really needs to go out and get some modern ideas on how to make their product more interesting. I usually love a museum but I even I found it difficult to stay interested. Watching one of the chocolate makers make chocolates was fun, and then after the tour we did the 1 hour workshop where we decorated our own, and it is a lot of chocolate you can decorate and keep. This was actually great value for money, for a place in Bruges.

An opportunity to make as much chocolate as you can within a given time and then to package them beautifully afterwards too. The actual workshop tutorial was short but this was perfect for our family who enjoyed getting hands on and came away with more chocolate than we know what to do with!! Brilliant experience!

We arrived at the museum an hour before our workshop and really enjoyed the self guided audio tour. We all learned things we didn’t know about chocolate and enjoyed the narrative and interactive stations. This knowledge set us up very well for the chocolate making session we had booked.

The chocolate workshop was so much fun. Very professionally run with a clear brief to start and good supervision throughout. Hygiene is taken seriously and the kitchen area is clean, bright and very well set up.

The children loved making all sorts of treats and became more adventurous as the session went on. At the end there are bags provided to wrap the treats and everyone left with a large orange bag full of chocolate goodies.

It was our youngest son’s birthday and the team made him feel very special- personalising a chocolate bar for him and giving him an additional bar to take away.

Everyone in the family agreed the workshop was the highlight of our day and likely to be remembered as the best experience of our whole time in beautiful Bruges. Would highly recommend.

The highlight of our trip to Bruges! Perfect activity for families & teens. Our instructor was so friendly and helpful - and in just a few minutes showed us all how to make our own chocolate creations. Choices of 3 different chocolates and lots of different toppings to make it creative and really fun! I’d recommend this spot to anyone - a real unique experience with lots of tasty treats to take home from your vacation.

Was such a fun experience to be able to make our own chocolate. We had free reign of the design and the bags were filled by staff. We were shown many techniques and then allowed to create whatever we wanted. There was a lot of chocolate to use and toppings for the price of this tour. Very good value for money. Our chocolatier was very good at assisting when needed. A very good experience in Bruges!! We also were able to walk around the museum after which taught us a lot about the history of chocolate.

My wife and I have visited Bruges before and know that it's a beautiful place. Both the previous time and this time was on a cruise ship so time is limited. On this occasion we chose to do the praline-making experience rather than wander around town. Sadly we also didn't have the time to look at the museum properly as we're told that it's been significantly overhauled since our previous visit. We have no doubt that it remains worthwhile visiting.

So, the chocolate experience. It is what it is. It is fun, as expected. A group of maybe ten of us gather around in a kitchen which is disability-accessible. We had to wear disposable plastic aprons which, aside from the hygiene aspect, are essential as this can get messy. Again, it's fun.

The guide has enthusiasm and energy. You get a choice as to what sort of chocolate to use. The whole experience is quite short but we did get to bring our chocolates home.

If you have the time, which is certainly a factor, I recommend you doing this activity.

It was a lot of fun! We made our own chocolate with white, milk and dark chocolate. The instructor was friendly and her instructions were easy and fun. The museum was good and some of it was interactive which was very cool. I recommend booking the workshop in advance online.

Chocolate workshop with 15 and 9 year old. It was well organised with an experienced teacher! We felt it could have been a little longer as we were just getting the hang of things and it was time to wrap up! I suppose if longer it might not be suitable for younger kids. Thomas, our teacher was lovely. My 9 year old particularly liked the print outs that could be copied through the paper

The funny thing about this is that we didn't get that much of a lesson. The chef showed us the basics and then we were basically free to make whatever we wanted, however we wanted. For the two kids (11 and 7), that was probably perfect!
