Brugge in the time of the Middle Ages is portrayed excellently. Not only that, but you will have the opportunity to literally immerse yourself in an extremely exciting reconstruction of the city. It absolutely deserves five stars: I have seen countless museums during my travels and this one really impressed me. Maybe the price is a bit expensive, 26 Euros for the full ticket, but this is amply repaid by all the activities included: a visit with virtual reality, the tour of the museum and even the visit to the tower. There are also a lot of exhibition panels and fun quizzes to take along the way. The staff is also very friendly and all the movies are pretty much dubbed in any language. I repeat: Absolutely not to be missed.

We visited the Historium and our tickets covered the story, virtual reality and the tower. It starts off with the VR which was good fun, it showed Brugge from back in the day. Next up was the story, you are given a headset and the different doors open when it is time to move on. The story was a little bit boring but the screens and sets were impressive. There was a little museum section to walk around and then you can go outside for a good view of the square. Lastly we did the tower, it’s is extremely narrow so not good for people who are claustrophobic. But the view was great and it’s a good photo opportunity. The Historium also has a nice bar and you can sit out on the terrace.

This was my first time travelling solo and I visited a few museums and experiences but this one was by far the most memorable. It was informative but also fun. Its a walk through live story experience as you walk through the set of the story and each person has a headset so that there is no language barrier. The VR experience was definitely worth the few extra euros, really enjoyable. If you're looking for something fun to do with your partner, family or even by yourself like me, I highly recommend this experience

First the VR experience. Friendly helpful staff but experience itself would deeply disappoint any computer gamer. Then the tour- script out of sync with visit. “Story” was very simple and not very interesting . Historical room sets ok but no significant historical info given. We declined the offer of a secong visit with sound in sync- they’d need to have paid us to go through it again!

I am sorry to read that your visit didn't meet your expectations. As for the synchronisation, this shouldn't normally happen. The audio guide is set at the beginning of the visit and after that everything is automatic. In the Story we give an impression of daily life in Bruges in 1435. We deliberately do this with a low threshold, in order to learn something for both young and old in a fun way. Those who want to delve further can do so in the Exhibition. My apologies if this was not entirely clear.

This experience far exceeded our expectations. The attraction was on par with Disney or Universal–the level of immersion and story-telling was simply amazing. Given the opportunity, we would definitely visit again. Absolutely no regrets!!!

Bought online tickets for priority entrance. There is no priority entrance, just a mob of people snaking their way through ill-defined lines.
Abandoned the first day’s effort to be there early the next day. Tickets said opening at 10, arrived, door opened, people wandered in but entry desk said opening was at 11. Returned a third time. And took the tour.
Who is the audience? Plot is too elementary for adults with basic education; too sophisticated for children. A waste of time and money

Hi. We are sorry to read that you did not enjoy your visit. At busy times, we give priority to people with a ticket over those who do not yet have a ticket. I am also sorry to read that the communication between our website on the one hand and our tickets on the other is ambiguous. I will definitely take this with me to take action quickly.

The historium is a quick and fun thing to visit, but the educational value is fairly limited. We also visited the tower and in total were out 26,50 euro per person. Oh no, it was 27, 20 since apparently 26,30 is not enough to pay for a toilet visit. The vr experience is OK as a VR novelty, but the quality of the graphics is pretty mediocre. In the end we were outside again after an hour and 15 minutes, including the visit to the tower. For 15 euros it would have been fine, if it included a toilet. For almost double that it really wasn't worth it.

Hi Jie. Thank you for your review and I'm happy to read that you enjoyed your visit as a quick and fun thing to visit. We mainly try to give an impression of medieval Bruges in our attractions, because most of our visitors are only for few hours in our city. If you want to learn more of medieval Bruges, you can choose what you'd like to read or listen to in the Exhibition or we refer you to the other museums in Bruges. With regard to our rates and toilet visits, I will certainly take your feedback on board at the next meeting.

VR graphics are a bit out of date but still worth the extra, the story and the different rooms were well put together and this was the best part. The staff member Monique (dark hair, piercings) was very rude with customers, and shouted when we walked to go up the tower, clearly a jobsworth. I think some lessons on customer service wouldn’t be wasted on her… ruined it for all the other staff who were fantastic, shame really.

The virtual reality add-on was perhaps the best part of the experience. You are on a boat arriving in Brugge in medieval times and you can see everything in 360 degree VR. Once that is over you go through several themed rooms with props and projections which tell a story. If what you are looking for is something that can give you a feel for what medieval Brugge might have been like, it is quite an enjoyable experience. If you are looking for more detailed history, this may not be the place for you. We quite enjoyed it, but it is perhaps a little overpriced for what you get.

Hi Gordon. Thank you for your honest feedback and you're exactly writing down what we are offering: an impression of medieval Bruges, with its rich architecture and how medieval life in Bruges was. For more details, we also refer to other museums in Bruges. We hope to welcom you again in the future!

I really enjoyed the 3D virtual reality story, I think it was really well done….remember to look behind you! It’s not very long tho so over quickly. I also enjoyed climbing the tower to overlook the square, it’s really narrow up there, so with 9 people at a time you do get stuck in one position while people take pictures if you’re on the wrong side! Some people were stuck for ages waiting. The history audio guided tour was ok,the rooms are all themed and the audio good…but it was more of a love story than the history of Bruges. It’s a Bit on the expensive side for what it actually is, I’m still glad I experienced it 😊

We are happy to read that you enjoyed the entire visit. met your expectations. As far as the Story is concerned, we want to teach both young and old something about daily life in Bruges in 1435, when Jan van Eyck lived in Bruges. It is true that not the complete history of Bruges, but an impression of medieval life in Bruges in 1435. The common thread in this is indeed a love story, because this appeals to most visitors. :)
