    Really good fun.
Really good fun and great little chocolates to take home. Definitely worth taking a look round the museum as well whilst you are there. You can get there early and do the museum first or go after the workshop.

Nice way to get your hands dirty for an hour! We all enjoyed it
Chocolate workshop with 15 and 9 year old. It was well organised with an experienced teacher! We felt it could have been a little longer as we were just getting the hang of things and it was time to wrap up! I suppose if longer it might not be suitable for younger kids. Thomas, our teacher was lovely. My 9 year old particularly liked the print outs that could be copied through the paper

    Praline workshop
We had a fab workshop with Louisa. She taught us so much about chocolate and showed us how to make our own praline filled chocolates. She let us try as much chocolate as we could manage and we got to take all our chocolates we made home with us. Was so much fun and was great to taste a raw cocoa bean! Thanks Louisa!! :)

Highlight of Bruges / Perfect for Families & Teens / Become a Chocolate Chef!
The highlight of our trip to Bruges! Perfect activity for families & teens. Our instructor was so friendly and helpful - and in just a few minutes showed us all how to make our own chocolate creations. Choices of 3 different chocolates and lots of different toppings to make it creative and really fun! I’d recommend this spot to anyone - a real unique experience with lots of tasty treats to take home from your vacation.

It was a lot of fun! We made our own chocolate with white, milk and dark chocolate. The instructor was friendly and her instructions were easy and fun. The museum was good and some of it was interactive which was very cool. I recommend booking the workshop in advance online.

Choco-Story - The Chocolate Museum Review. Bruges in March
Just about worth a visit, some interesting bits to see. It wasn't busy but I can imagine it being a nightmare at peak season so I would go very early if that's when you are travelling. There is free chocolate at the end but I would avoid, the amount of fingers grabbing from where they are released, especially all the kids, is kind of disgusting.

Excellent place to visit when in Bruges. Telling the story of how chocolate is made. And the live demonstration at the end is great.

Lots of history, presented well, demonstration was great
Our family took the self-guided tour, and we were treated to a heap of information of the history of chocolate, from farming in South America, production in Belgium, how recipes/trends started, and modern use. The tour culminates with some samples being available, and a brilliant chocolatier providing a multi-lingual presentation which includes a sample of a praline. It is wonderful.

I saw mixed reviews so took a gamble. It was a rainy day so needed something to do-I wouldn’t go again!
If you have young children 4-8 it’s ok. It is really small and is up a lot of stairs. They explain how chocolate is made though displays, video footage and Lego men displays.
Free chocolate to taste in forms of buttons which I saw a staff member clean up the overspill/dropped buttons and add them back into the mix-your effectively eating chocolate that others have previously touched.
You see a small demonstration on making chocolate in moulds at the end and that is it. Shop is mega over priced.
I would recommend seeing and finding all the small chocolate shops that have their own small factories within them which are fabulous!

Dear Kristy, we are very sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience. This is indeed a chocolate museum and not a factory. We show the history of chocolate and explain how chocolate is produced. The whole museum consists out of 3 whole floors and you need +/- 1 hour to see everything. At the end of the visit there is a live demonstration where a chocolatier shows you how pralines are made. Due to the corona measures there are no tasters in the museum. Instead everyone gets one sealed bag of tasters per person at the end of the visit to ensure the safety of our visitors as our own. Unfortunately there are no chocolate factories in Bruges ;) But there are indeed many shops.

Lots of stairs, first 2 floors pretty much same repetative information. People wandering freely so rather congested on stairs and at entrances. It would be fine to kill half hour if it was at least half the price. You cant spend alot of time there and nearly €20 for 2 people for a small chocolate bar and a stair hike to not alot is a pretty poor show. Dont waste your money

Good hour and a half, the little hand held device is good to listen to the information without having to read it. As it was raining, it was quite busy so at first it seemed crowded but each floor seemed quieter and quieter. The demo was well worked and the chocolate was lovely to try

Our 5.5 yo daughter loved it! They have a kids audio guide and about 100 stops - so took us two hours to go through it all. Learned loads about cocoa and chocolate, thank you!
The highlight for the little one was the “All you can eat” station.
We had no time to stay for the demonstration, next time!

Free chocolates make the trip decent. Else, it is not that interesting. Wud have appreciated some virtual tours for the price they charge for the ticket. Instead it is a dull visit, but again, the free chocolate, the photo-op at the end and a little preparation by the chef (chocolate filled with truffle) save the day!

Please be aware that even if you've pre booked and paid for tickets, you will still have to queue behind people who are buying their tickets on the day. This was not ideal as the friend I was with can't stand for long periods. Also there are a lot of stairs and you have to ask a member of staff to use the lift and we couldn't find seats other than stools in the theatre area.
The museum itself is very interesting, well put together, and worth a visit, but we couldn't stand around waiting for the demonstration because of the reasons outlined above, which was a great shame.

Thank you for your feedback. Indeed, the pre-paid tickets ensure that you can get in the museum when all the other tickets are sold out. However, it is not a fast pass. Just like with concert tickets , you still have to do the queue as most people before you will have a ticket as well. Due to the small rooms we don't have a lot of possibilities to put chairs and seats but we will keep your feedback in mind.

It was super fun to learn all about the history of chocolate throughout the museum. It was easy to understand and it was unique to see all the different chocolate related artifacts including molds and vintage chocolate boxes. Highly recommend if you have children or are a foodie and interested in learning about all things chocolate.

An interesting museum on the history of chocolate, with an audio guide covering the background of how chocolate was discovered up until modern day. There are a lot of stairs to the different levels (nothing too strenuous) but there is a small lift for those unable to climb these.

Nice exhibits, some interactive and the chance to eat some Belgium chocolate buttons at the end in various flavours!

A small but very good gift shop at the end selling various chocolate and chocolate related items. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.

The museum itself is very interesting and there is an abundance of displays to take in, but the amount of people being let in at once needs to be limited. It’s very tight areas along some of the exhibits and we were already packed in like sardines then a group of 100+ students came in as well. It made it really hard to enjoy the exhibits due to overcrowding, no airflow, and just the packed in atmosphere. Understandably, you were expected to leave your bags/backpacks at the entrance, but some people chose not to and there were no lockers just open cubbies. I felt it necessary to unload anything of value (passport, cash, credit cards, phone, etc) and shove everything into my pockets. Not to mention, there were not enough cubbies so people were forced to leave their coats and bags on the floor blocking the walkway. It definitely has potential but some consideration needs to be given to how many people can comfortably fit into the space.

Choco_Story_Bruges
Thank you for your feedback. The museum does have a limited number of visitors per 30 minutes. People can stay as long as they want to however which means on rainy days, during school holidays or weekends, people can stay longer then usual what may cause a more busy feeling. I can assure you, we never allow 100+ students to come inside at the same time. Large groups are spread over the 4 floors. As in most museums, backpacks aren't allowed inside because they may dammage the exhibits. Indeed, as in most museums some people ignore the rules and take them in anyway. We apologise for the inconvenience and will definately take your advice into consideration.

A great museum with a mixture of historic objects and modern interpretation - lots of interactive games, good audio guide, short films, etc. My only criticism is that it failed to mention that in the C18th and C19th sugar and cocoa beans were grown by enslaved labour. Apart from that it was very informative and also fun.
