Good
Good fun. Lots of information. You walk around listening to someone talk on your own personal radio device. I would not recommend this to children through- many kids were wondering around bored and didn’t want to listen. Definitely for older people who are interested in finding out where chocolate came from.

Dear Emma. Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that the children didn't have a good time.In our museum you can find several kids games that can be activated with the audio guide. We do hope you have enjoyed the live demonstration.

Great experiance
Sep 2021 • Family
Museum is completely renovated and gives a very good inside in the making of chocolate. At the same time it is not overdone and well done for children. The most I liked at the end of the visit the demonstration on how to make a praline. And the tasting was very good.

Good visit , but….
This was a private collection of artefacts and some audio described history of cocoa.

A demonstration of praline making and then some samples to taste made it a good visit.

We found the sequence a little confusing for the history but enjoyed it nonetheless

There were lots of people in our 3 pm slot but we held back a little and the crowds (all masked but NOT distanced) moved on and we had more space. Worth going but think fewer visitors in a timed batch would’ve been better

Thank you for your review. At the moment there a no restrictions in Belgium as to how many people can enter at once. For you safety we only allow half of museum capacity inside of the museum and we work with timeslots, only allowing a certain number of people inside of the museum. Unfortunately this can cause a line in front of the entrance. We can only hope that people are responsible enough to keep 1,5m distance but we are not allowed to reinforce this measure outside in the cue of the entrance of the museum.

Not much of a chocolate factory. Don’t wast your money here
Dec 2019 • Solo
I saw mixed reviews so took a gamble. It was a rainy day so needed something to do-I wouldn’t go again!
If you have young children 4-8 it’s ok. It is really small and is up a lot of stairs. They explain how chocolate is made though displays, video footage and Lego men displays.
Free chocolate to taste in forms of buttons which I saw a staff member clean up the overspill/dropped buttons and add them back into the mix-your effectively eating chocolate that others have previously touched.
You see a small demonstration on making chocolate in moulds at the end and that is it. Shop is mega over priced.
I would recommend seeing and finding all the small chocolate shops that have their own small factories within them which are fabulous!

Dear Kristy, we are very sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience. This is indeed a chocolate museum and not a factory. We show the history of chocolate and explain how chocolate is produced. The whole museum consists out of 3 whole floors and you need +/- 1 hour to see everything. At the end of the visit there is a live demonstration where a chocolatier shows you how pralines are made. Due to the corona measures there are no tasters in the museum. Instead everyone gets one sealed bag of tasters per person at the end of the visit to ensure the safety of our visitors as our own. Unfortunately there are no chocolate factories in Bruges ;) But there are indeed many shops.

Wasn't the best experience ever. Felt it was very overpriced for what it was and a lot of the information was not very interesting or helpful. Could be improved.

Superb museum to visit at any age
Feb 2020 • Family
A great museum to visit. It was really informative learning about the history of the cocoa bean and benefits of chocolate (other than the taste!). We appreciated the free samples and enjoyed the demonstration. Having individual audio guides made it more engaging for our young son who listened avidly to all the information provided. Recommend visiting if you're in Brussels.

Delightful place, what could be better than the history of chocolate. Lots of free samples on way round and finishing on a demonstration of making a filled chocolate. Didn’t realise so many types of cocoa beans, good to learn about our everyday items. Sure children would enjoy this museum.

Given that Bruges is all about chocolate this was very disappointing. Lots of small congested rooms with dated displays.

Avoid at all costs
Feb 2020 • Couples
Was expecting to see something to do with chocolate. But instead I was given a history lesson starting at the year 955bc with the odd mention of cocoa every now and then. Very disappointing! The only chocolate was in the over priced shop at the end. This is not a place for children!

Dear Amber, thank you for your review. We're so sorry that your experience did not match your expectations. In our museum you learn everything there is to know about chocolate, including its history and origins (cocoa). For children we have a sticker game they can enjoy during the visit. They can also participate in a workshop during the weekend.
