This is a mini zoo caged animals with little space, very artificial.
Why go to a zoo when you can see these animals in there natural habitat in Costa Rica roaming freely. Very Artificial.
The waterfalls were worth a visit and therefore the two stars.

There needs to be more staff to handle the number of entrants. Even though we paid in advance online, we still had to wait in line to buy our buffet tickets. We waited over 30 minutes at the entrance to get our buffet tickets and wristbands for the prepaid service. They only had one person handling ticket purchases and that person was also answering questions from customers. It was so inefficient and when you have teenagers that are impatient, it is just not the right way to manage customers. They need two or three staff at the front desk.
Because of Covid, the buffet should be a buffet served by staff. I was so scared that everyone was touching the same utensils to serve their buffet and the line was backed up and so crowded. If they had servers, at least during 11- 1pm, the line would move faster and the staff could wear gloves while they serve and protect everyone from Covid.

Open exhibits that you advertise as being open. If there are no birds In the Aviary, say so. If there are no humming birds, say so. If there are no staff in the butterfly section, say so. Paid full price for a greatly diminished experience

This is my first time here at Waterfall Gardens we are from Colorado. Its an Amazing place with a lot of things to do and many things to see.
The only negative coment is the Buffet Restaurant. We are a Family of 5 and 3 of us are Glutten Free. We asked through Facebook before get there about the tickets and the options for the Lunch and they didnt answer about the food options they just said "El almuerzo Buffet debe pagarse en la recepción" and all the explanation about the tickets. The person who respond the message they never told us about the situation of the food if they have or not more options.
Once we arrive to the reception we tried to check if is posible to see the menú before buy the lunch but as the Facebook message they just told us that we have to buy the lunch right there.
They didnt care about us they just care for the money and not for the service or the food situation that we had.
We definitely dont buy the lunch at the desk just the tickets.
Its really nice place with an Amazing people that care all the animals and the sanctuary but not the people who were at the reception or in Facebook.
We will not return to this place...!!

All the animals are kept in enclosures which prioritise visitors being able to see and take “nice” pictures of the animals at the cost of giving them a poor and stressful living environment. None of them are given a safe space to feel hidden or sheltered and the snakes aren’t even given moist hides to help them shed.
For the price they ask to visit the very least they could do is invest a fraction of their profits into the Animal’s Wellbeing.
If you do not care about the animals and all you want is a nice photo with an overfed and sedated toucan, Feel free to visit!

If you enjoy Waterfalls, hiking and wildlife you will enjoy the Gardens. What a wonderful day we had. The weather was warm with a cool breeze making the walk so enjoyable. There is plenty to see and as we did this on our own we liked that we had all day to spend and we’re not rushed. Definitely would recommend this as a day trip.

Must see when visiting Vara Blanca. Plenty to see and do in a day. Truly enjoyed “hiking” to the Catarata aka waterfalls, as well as visiting their butterfly sanctuary. It was our first time seeing so many different species of butterfly in one place. Also enjoyed seeing the jaguars up close. They were actually quite playful with one another. Overall, we would highly recommend this place to others.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff. This was a great way to see the animals up close and even interact with them (e.g. hold a feeder so the hummingbirds land on your hand). It was not busy when we were there so we were able to learn a lot and get some amazing pictures! There are staff in each area who will tell you about the animals. Henry and David especially went above and beyond to make our visit special and helped us to get some great photos. The hike to see the waterfalls is well worth it if you can manage the stairs - they were beautiful. We purchased the buffet lunch which was very good and a good value. We spent about four hours there altogether, with lunch. Overall, la Paz Waterfall Garden was much better than we expected and I’m so glad we decided to visit.

What a great day having fun on these activities, our guides was really nice always making some jokes. We feel really safe with the good standard gears, very well organized. The only thing to climb is the price too expensive… overall whole service was good.

This is our third time here. To us it is the BEST place to visit in all of Costa Rica and whenever family members come to stay with us in Escazu we take them here first and foremost. It is awe inspiring! Plus the other exhibits wonderful and you can fish for and eat fish rainbow trout on site. The Peace Lodge is an added bonus and although expensive worth every penny!

No it’s not an extra costs to you. You can do the wildlife refuge and waterfalls for same entrance fee. It takes about 2-hours. It’s very nice.
