Taste and discover chocolate like never before! You’ll start at the Grand Place, “the most beautiful square in Europe,” as Victor Hugo, author of the famous Les Miserables, once said. After hearing interesting facts about the beautiful Place, you’ll get right onto tasting! You’ll first taste mouth-watering chocolate at one of Belgium’s most renowned chocolatiers, who was also the first chef to bring the macaron to Belgium. Through each degustation, you’ll be guided by a passionate chocolate expert who will explain how to taste each chocolate, and how to tell the difference between the best — and the rest. But it doesn’t stop there! Next you’ll stroll to the beautiful Renaissance-style Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert with its luxury designer shops as well as theatres and cafes. It’s there where you’ll discover delicately exquisite chocolate from a World Pastry Champion — too good to have just one! After the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, you’ll be guided to taste your next set of delicious award-winning chocolates from one of the world’s most creative chocolatiers, and with clear explanations, you’ll soon start grasping what makes each chocolatier and chocolate unique. Throughout the tour, you’ll get to ask whatever chocolate questions you’d like, as your passionate chocolate guide has been trained as a chocolatier, and has had many years working in the chocolate sector! To complete your mouth-watering chocolate discovery tour, you’ll amble down to the historical Sablon area, where you’ll get to taste another set of chocolate, extremely different from one another, but also extremely delicious! By the end of the tour, your gourmet appetite should be satisfied after relishing 12 different chocolates from the best chocolatiers in Belgium and the world, as well as your intellectual curiosity, having uncovered the secrets of the bean-to-bar process... Come taste and discover for yourself! (Please note that in August, one of the chocolatiers is closed, but you'll still be tasting 12 exceptional chocolates from amazing (and award-winning!) artisan chocolatiers in total :)

    Wonderful family experience
We had a wonderful afternoon with the Cathy learning about chocolate and making delicious truffles. Cathy was so gracious and terrific about answering our family's many questions and making the experience fun and educational. There were several chocolate experiences to choose from and we were so glad that we picked this one. It was a highlight of our Brussels trip.

Our family had so much fun learning to make and eat chocolate with Cathy. She was so friendly and patient with our high energy children. Cathy is extremely knowledgable and has a way of making the world of chocolate so easy and accessible in a city that takes its chocolate very seriously. Great kid-friendly class!
Cathy gave us a great class for our family! She explained the basics of chocolate making and had examples of cocoa pods and other pictures that were engaging with the kids. We all had a great time and Cathy was so kind and patient, which I really appreciated! I highly recommend you book a class or even reach out to her directly if you’re looking for something specific. She will accommodate!

    Fantastic Family Experience
A fantastic experience for the kids to make some chocolate of their own in Brussels. I expected a little more theatre and maybe something a little different for the adults to do for €200 (family of four), but you can’t fault the experience or Cathy’s obvious passion & expertise for chocolate. The price is subjective so if it fits your budget, it’s a fantastic experience.

A family must do while in Brussels!
Our family LOVED this fun and educational workshop, and the truffles were delicious! Cathy did such a wonderful job catering to all of our children's ages (11, 9, and 7) while at the same time teaching me and my husband interesting facts about chocolate. This was such a fun family memory! The location was also fantastic. Highly recommend!

    A fun chocolate experience
Cathy is very animated and passionate about chocolate! It was so much fun to learn how to make truffles. The walking tour after is enlightening because Cathy knows these chocolatiers personally and enjoys their art so much that she makes this tour a lot of fun. I learned that tempering is the secret to good truffles! Got to talk to Cathy to understand tempering! Highly recommended!

    A perfect anniversary afternoon!
Cathy's truffle workshop and tour was a highlight of our trip to Brussels. We were looking for a way to enjoy all the best chocolate in the city without falling for the tourist traps, and we got that and much more. We learned so much in the workshop and have a new appreciation for all things chocolate. She also helped us take photos while we made the chocolate, and I've been happily sending photos around to family since we got back. The tour was excellent and introduced us to the most incredible places we'd never have found on our own. We went back to Jitsk on our last day and bought two boxes as gifts, along with some for ourselves to eat there. It was an amazing addition to our anniversary trip!

A great knowledge -packed and tasty experience!
Cathy really knows her chocolate facts and history. She showed us how to make truffles while also explaining the essential aspects behind what distinguishes good chocolate from others. After that we went for a walking tour in central Brussels where we tasted really interesting different types of chocolate from different artisanal chocolate makers.

    Chocolate delight
Our 4-year-old daughter was really engaged and enthusiastic about the workshop. Couldn't be more proud of her as she's so focused and creative to make her first chocolate with us. Cathy is very kind and friendly and she is willing to share every bit of knowledge about chocolate. We have some key takeaways that refresh our understanding about chocolate. If you want to experience the chocolate delight with kids, family or friends in Brussels, this workshop is defo your choice.

Amazing experience for the mind, the heart and my taste buds! I never thought tasting chocholate could be such a discovery. The artisan chocolate ateliers we visited are going to remain on my favourite list of chocholate in Brussels and in the world for years to come. Thank you Cocoa Journey for motivating me even more to move to Brussels!

We had an excellent chocolate tour with Cathy. She introduced us to exceptional chocolate stores and we got to taste exciting new flavors of chocolate. Throughout the tour Cathy gave us some cool insides about the history of pralinés, the chocolate manufacturing and some fun tips for Brussels in general. I would absolutely recommend this tour!

If there is anything you do in life, you need to go on a chocolate tour with Cathy. My cousins and I were traveling to Brussels for one day, and I had reached out to Cathy to see if she had any availability. She was was extremely accommodating and was able to book us for a private tour on a non-tour day. Cathy is so knowledgable with chocolate, the process, and the flavors - it really blew us away. She is also very personable and a delight to walk around with and taste different chocolates. She made the whole experience so memorable and fun- HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend doing a chocolate tour with Cathy!

We had a fabulous time learning about chocolate on our combine chocolate making and chocolate tasting tour with Cathy. We began with a session on how to make good chocolate listening to her instructions as we tempered our chocolate and made our own truffles and mendicants, which we sampled after competition and then got to take away the remainder with us when class was over. The second half of the tour, Cathy escorted us to three of her favorite craft chocolate stores and we sampled more than a dozen different pralines. Bring an empty stomach with you as we must have let at least a pound of delicious chocolates melt in our mouth over the 3 hour tour. Only temporarily sated, we return to buy more chocolate at the store we like best, enjoying a 10% discount. Overall a highlight of our visit to Brussels. We were so glad to have an experienced and passionate guide to lead us as there are hundreds of chocolate shops in Brussels and a novice would have no idea where to start or even understand the significant differences in chocolate making. While we tasted some fabulous chocolate, turns out the ones we liked best were the ones we made ourselves. We are still enjoying them several days later. We highly recommend this experience. You will not be disappointed. Just bring stretchy pants! Willy Wonka would be jealous.

I've lived in Brussels for 5 years and we decided to try the Artisanal Chocolate tasting tour with Cathy when my mother was visiting. It was so memorable and I was so impressed with the tour that I have recommended this tour to all of my friends and family locally. We had such a great time and learned so much about chocolate that it has changed my view FOREVER on which pralines I should purchase for myself and others. I've already gifted the special chocolate from one of the chocolatiers to a work colleague and they were equally impressed with the quality of pralines and the story behind the pralines that I learned from Cathy. Extremely highly recommended to everyone who respects a good chocolate praline! Cathy truly is an expert in her field!

Belgium is known for it's chocolates, and what better way to learn more about quality chocolates than with a tasting tour with a professional chocolate judge!! Cathy was very knowledgable on the subject, and taught us how to appreciate the finest artisanal chocolates. Some flavor combinations were unexpected, but delicious! I think everyone in our group was blown away with this tasting experience. I don't want to give any secrets learned away, this is something every chocoholic should discover on their own.
Cathy is accommodating to those with allergies, as well as to slow walkers like me. She is prompt with communication prior to booking. Most of all, she is passionate about chocolate, and made this tour the highlight of our visit to Brussels. Thank-you Cathy!!

I love Belgian chocolate (who doesn’t?) and thought it would be fun to learn more about it. Cathy Manlow took us to chocolate shops throughout the city—and we got to experience the difference between the kind of chocolate that I would have said was my favorite and, what I would venture to guess are, the highest quality chocolate pralines in the world. We learned how the pralines are made, the backstories of the artisans, and, most importantly, how to eat the chocolate! We also learned a bit more about Bruxelles as we walked around. I am so glad this was part of our itinerary. I highly recommend Cathy’s chocolate tasting tour! I understand she also gives workshops so check those out if you have extra time.

A great tour! It's a "High-end Chocolate Tour", so we visited only the best artisan chocolate shops where Cathy let me taste different types of artisan chocolates while guiding me into understanding how to examine the taste, the texture, the feeling...
It wasn't only a tour, but also a "class", where I learned how to taste chocolate & understand what makes a truly gourmet chocolate (& chocolatier) and appreciate it all.

Another plus, is that there are a few chocolate shops that offer a discount, which was great as I was bringing chocolate back home.

There's only one downside to Cathy's tour - afterward, you'll skip many of the so-so chocolate shops spread around town and stick to the best ones! Almost the same price, but you now know what's good and what's best :)

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review, roiar! So glad you found the tour both delicious and educational. Yes, it's hard to go back to the 'average' chocolate once you've understood what makes an exceptional chocolate :) -- even if they're about the same price! All the best for your future degustation :)
