Best excursion to Ghent and Brugge
We had a fantastic, informative trip with Stefan on the 7th of August to Ghent and Brugge. Stefano made the experience perfect. We loved it! Joelle, our driver, was also great. Would highly recommend this tour.

    Great deal!
Such a great experience! I'm so glad we took advantage of this opportunity to explore beyond Brussels. This was a very convenient and cost effective way to experience Luxembourg. We also loved Dinant and decided we definitely want to go back there for longer on a future trip. The tour guide was lovely and had lots of interesting information to share too.

    Luxembourg was beautiful
Luxembourg was really beautiful and worth the trip, totally recommend that! Only three stars instead of five because the bus there and back took a really long time due to slow traffic (I don't know it this is normal or was it because of the rain), and there was not time to see all that was listed in the descption what to expect (e.g. we didn't visit the modern side at all, also Dinant was only a short free time visit, no guided tour). The toilet in the bus didn't work, so e.g. in Dinant we needed to go to cafe and buy something, which was also off from the short time in the town. The guide was really good, but since the hours and hours of sitting in the bus, it would have been intreresting to hear more stories of the cities during the bus ride. Otherwise the bus was comfortable and air conditioned, good views from the upper deck.

Having a vacation but don't know what to do. Join this tour.
Brugge was a beautiful little town and the guide bringing us around was great! She must be in her 60s or 70s but she could walk. Lots of walking but she did not slow the tour. Kudos to the guide.

    Dinnant & Luxemburg Road trip
On Thursday Morning suddenly plan for this road trip from Netherlands to Dinnat & Luxemburg. So quickly checked the AirBnB in Dinnant was bit costly so we planned to stay in Foische,France . Just crosisng the Belgium border nice cals place . Dinnat is one of the small and very beautiful majestic town in Belgium with this Castle on the river side. This was my 2nd visit and found many new shops are open and planty of food shops are there now.

    Good tour for adults
Good toor except for small kids and babies screaming inside the tour bus which is really uncomfortable. The tour is very educational and I think is not appropriate for a 12 month old or so kids . It will also add value had there been a restroom inside the bus .

A Remarkable TripAdvisor Visit / Tour of The lovely Belgium cities of Bruges and Ghent
It was an unexpectedly rainy morning but, soon simply clouds and cool temperatures. This could have indeed diminished the required enjoyment of the Tour but, our excellent tour guide Arian was concisely and effectively perfect with all details both historic and delightful activities. I can truly recommend TripAdvisor Tours as they do indeed consider the needs of all tour members, their culture and languages. This is absolutely and, vitally important. Ariana thank you so very much, we truly enjoyed our visits to both Ghent and Bruges. A++

    Great guide and beautiful cities!!
Niko was a fabulous guide and was knowledgeable about the history of both Gent and Brugge. We walked much more than typical because the bus couldn’t get as close to the cities due to the national holiday festivities. Those who were less physically active struggled with this. We loved the tour and would definitely recommend it to others to get a taste of these beautiful cities!

Could not be happier! Excellent value for money
We had a limited time staying in Belgium so we decided to book this tour to experience Brugge and Gent. It turned out to be a great idea. Niko is an excellent tour guide and explained the history and architecture in great detail. It was a national holiday so it was busy but Niko still gave us the best experience. You get radios so it is easy to listen to the guide clearly. Niko also gave us tips on places and things to do in case we wanted to come back. He was very knowledgeable and has a great attitude. The bus was very comfortable. In fact is was so comfortable I struggled to not take a nap after walking but Niko gave us time to take a nap as well!!! Thank you for the great tour! Don’t hesitate to book this tour. You will not be disappointed

Really enjoyed this tour and the informative guide. But be advised: it is a FULL DAY! We left the tour office about 9:20AM, and did not return to the drop off point until 10:45PM. By the time I got back to my hotel it was 11:15PM. This made for a really, really long day. I would strongly suggest they eliminate the Menen Gate ceremony at the end of the day, because it was not that interesting and would shorten the trip by two hours (with the free time and Menen Gate stop). Other than that I really enjoyed all of the other sites.

We had requested hotel pick up as our hotel was some distance from the city centre. The voucher said this would be at 8.15am for a 9am departure from the centre. As no one had appeared at 8.20 we called the office and were told that the pickup time was ‘between 8.15 and 8.45’. This was certainly not the wording on the voucher and was the first irritation.

The driver arrived 10 minutes later in a minivan. He did not speak at all. There was one other couple already in the van and we then picked up a Spanish couple. At this point, we thought this was probably our group. This was not the case, however, and we were dropped off somewhere in the city next to a coach. It was drizzling rain and cold. The coach was not our coach. The other 2 couples were going to Ghent. The coach driver kindly let us sit on his coach while we waited…. And waited. Eventually, the driver rang the office and he laughed and wished us luck! It later transpired that our coach had broken down. But there was no one in charge to tell us this or to reassure us.

Finally, at 9.15am (having been waiting for over half an hour) we found other people who were going on the same trip and someone told us that they were trying to make alternative arrangements and at 9.30 we joined a coach full of Spanish speakers en route to Bruges. We were dropped at Bruges where there was a guide waiting (hurrah!) – but no coach. We waited again for another half hour before a coach arrived. When it did arrive, it turned out not to have enough seats for the whole group (1 short) and the guide seemed in complete confusion over who should have been on the tour – particularly because the driver on the first coach from Brussels had taken everyone’s vouchers and not passed them on. A party of 5 from Canada had actually had to drive all the way from Brussels because their hotel pickup didn’t materialise at all. The guide asked them if they would continue to drive and follow the bus! Eventually, he decided to give up his seat for the extra person and he sat on the bus steps for the rest of the day – which is not safe and probably illegal.

The rest of the tour was as planned and the guide was excellent, but due to the delays and the diversion via Bruges we had reduced time at each stop with only half an hour for lunch and no time to look around Ypres. As we had to go back via Bruges to drop off our guide we were also late back and didn’t reach Brussels until 10.30pm.

This is when we became really cross. We have travelled extensively and taken many, many tours. When one is picked up from a hotel it is expected that one will be dropped off there – unless there is a written explanation to the contrary (which there wasn’t). We had mentioned this to our guide (Dietrich) who assured us that he had given the driver all our hotel details and we would be dropped off either at the hotel or very nearby. My husband heard him give the driver this information. But when we arrived in some unknown part of Brussels, in the dark, the driver just told us all to get off the bus. We argued with him but he, whilst not offensive, was quite insistent that he would not take us any further. Some of the group who were staying in the centre and/or were familiar with the city got off at this point, but we explained that it was late and dark and we had no idea where we were or how to get to our hotel. He said it was not his problem and that we could catch a bus. Eventually, my husband asked for his name and said he would report him. At this point he started to drive and also called his boss who clearly told him to take us to our hotel. He then, very reluctantly, took us to the end of the road on which our hotel was (it was actually only a 10 minute drive – which was fine. But it was a very unpleasant experience – and I don’t like to think about what would have happened had I been on my own.

The Flanders Field trip was to have been the highlight – and the main point – of our break and the actual tour part was very good, but the organisation was completely chaotic and very stressful and we felt short-changed on time. I have been interested to read other reviews of 'unplanned' detours via Bruges and now wonder if this is a regular occurrence rather than a genuine breakdown!

I was looking forward to seeing the WWI sites around Ypres, that's not what i got. Overall, not impressive. This was four monuments or cemeteries. We stopped at one trench, but didn't get out. that would have been good. We did stop at one battle site where a massive bomb went off, but the guide didn't do a very good job putting it in context. It was interesting when they pointed out the front lines and how they changed. The ground was pocketmarked with shell explosions, but i didn't learn that from the guide. In fact, i asked a guide what was a simple question about a turret and he didn't know the answer. It ends with a ceremony in the town, while moving, i would have traded that for other trench sites or something other than a cemetery. At one of the sites, if he had put it into better context it would have been more interesting, but i got that from walking beyond the small site and reading the signs. There are several trench sites and other sites but we didn't go there. I found one on my own just outside of town. the Yorkshire Trench and Dugout that was actually pretty interesting and small. That could have easily been included. We loaded on the bus in Brussels at 9. By 1p we had stopped at one cemetery and one monument. NOt well organized. We did have about an hour and a half at the impressive Flanders Field Museum, so that was good. But overall, it could have been way better. Find another way to get to the Fields than this tour

My husband and I did this tour with Stefan as guide and Albert as driver. We could not have asked for more. Stefan was very knowledgeable and Albert navigated the area like a pro. We have not stopped talking about this tour days later. This tour covered the history of the war and the toll it took. Stefan also provided personal experiences growing up in the area surrounded by what was left behind. I cannot recommend this tour enough.

I don't usually take tours but I am very glad I broke my own rule this time. The tour was great and well worth the cost and time. The cost worked out to about 12 cents a minute and the time was 14 hours in total, mainly because our excellent guide Stefaan kept adding more things into our itinerary than we had paid for. We left Brussels around 9:00 am and got back around 11:00 pm; it was a full day and we visited all of the main WWI military cemeteries plus got a nice visit to the town of Ypres and the WW1 museum there. It was very modern and a great visit. Lunch in Ypres was nice: a triple decker home-made ham and cheese sandwich with a fresh salad (included in tour price). We returned to Ypres for dinner on our own, and to attend the Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate there. Visiting the cemeteries was sad, but the saddest part was that there were only 8 people on the tour, on a bus intended for 50! I can imagine that the company will have to stop offering this tour soon, which will be very sad indeed. Hats off to our great guide Stefaan and our excellent driver Abdel: they were both fantastic and very professional and added significantly to our enjoyment of the trip. The only thing I would change is the absolute chaos at Brussels City Tours office at check in; who knew we were supposed to check in at the office when no one told us that was their protocol and there were at least 100 people mulling about?

This was a wonderful and very moving tour. Seeing the battlefields, cemeteries and learning the WWI history was amazing. Steffan was a great guide and helped us to understand what occurred in and around these towns. Hearing taps at the Menin gate in YPres was also very emotional.

This was a great tour. Most of the other reviews cover the highlights. It was a very long day and lots of in and out of the bus. Stefan was knowledgeable but not easily heard in a large group. He needed some sort of voice amplification. We had a windy and rainy day. The rain was fine but the wind blew his voice away.

This tour delivered even more than promised! Not only did we do everything outlined, our amazing guide, Stefan/Stephane, shared some family stories and personal experiences. This was a very moving day and a great reminder about the horrors of war. It’s horrific to imagine what people experienced but I have a much better understanding now. Lest we forget.

Booked tour through Viator as On the Go Tours. Excellent bus ride to site with tour guide Young (Yaung?) who was very passionate about his subject. Visited several cemeteries firstly a German one (Vladso), Yorkshire trench, Canadian memorial who were first gas victims of WW1, English cemetery where John McCrae who wrote "on Flanders Field" worked as a medical doctor and then to Tyne Cot commonwealth graves. Also visited Hill 60 and then ended up in Ypres for the very moving Last Post ceremony. A long day but well worth it. Special thanks to our tour guide who made it so interesting.
