About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Cast A0 contributionsWonderful experience expiring two beautiful cities in two different countriesJan made it possible beautifully to help us explore the majestic places with a medley of the old and new architectural flairs in these awe inspiring places. His knowledge of the histories behind these places and the general knowledge about these cities help us know more about them. We have had ample time to explore around in addition to his guided walking and talking tours that we would hear over earphones through a small receiver all of us were given to follow him. We were ensured to give him a call or text him if we would lose our track. Highly recommend anyone to opt for this touring service willing to explore two big enough places to be covered in a day.Written October 7, 2024
- hcharmoli0 contributionsTwo great cities in one trip! The view was stunning from the citadel in Dinant. The most breathtaking of our trip! Luxembourg was beautiful as well and Jan took good care of us! #groupCaroline Oct 5, 2024Written October 6, 2024
- SharynD8010 contributionsGreat day outEnjoyed the trip! Jan was a great guide. Just a shame we didn’t have more time to spend in each city! But it was lovely being there.Written October 4, 2024
- Jacqueline L0 contributionsNot to be missedThe day felt more like a pilgrimage, to be honest. Our guide Dietrich and driver Abdoul (sp?) Took exceptionally good care of the group. Dietrich is from Bruges and very knowledgeable about the pivotal pieces of WWI battles in the Flanders region. The tour was as described. Be prepared for a long day. But worthwhile.Written September 29, 2024
- christinesD1136QJ0 contributionsNot a great experienceI would not recommend this tour, at least not with this guide. Our guide did not allow us to eat on the bus. That doesn’t sound so bad except you leave at 8:30am, stop for 20 minutes at a rest stop that is crowded and spread out (so no time to purchase and eat food, never mind use the bathroom which you have to pay for but the turnstile was broken so couldn’t even get in) and then when you stop again, it goes right into the tour so you wind up having to use all of your free time to eat at 1pm. The tour guide was knowledgeable- if you want to feel like the encyclopedia is being read to you. Otherwise, he was curt and lacked any interpersonal skills. Nothing he said was warm or made me smile. Luxembourg was nice but underwhelming. Dinant was beautiful but unfortunately we did not have much time to explore there. The bathroom on the coach did not work and the seats were tiny. I went on a tour with the same company the next day and it was so much better: both the bus and the guide. The second guide allowed us to eat and was warm and interesting and the coach had a toilet and plugs in the seats. Overall, I was just not impressed.Written September 25, 2024
- T1387HEmichels0 contributionsLong day but beautifulLuxembourg and Dinant. Very very long day the coach driver Gaby and the guide Stephan did a very good job. Stephan explained the history of the city of Luxembourg and the city of Dinant. Way too much walking. After the return I was exhausted. I do not recommend this tour to people who have difficulty walking.Written September 22, 2024
- Vacation020698118080 contributionsDinant and Luxembourg in one dayOur guide Jann was very knowledgeable and shared the history of Luxembourg and Dinant with us in two languages: French and English effortlessly. His guided tour shared highlights of both cities and also allowed us time to explore on our own. Highly recommend as a day trip from Brussels.Written September 11, 2024
- stevejF8817MM0 contributionsThe Best way to see Antwerp!!!My wife and I were in Brussels and wanted to see Antwerp. We found this tour that picked us up less than 1000ft from our hotel and took us all the way there and back. Yasmine was our tour guide and was extremely knowledge about the city, its history and all its famous landmarks, paintings, statues and buildings. The tour was both in English and Spanish, so feel free to book if you speak either language. I think Yasmine also speaks French, but she didn't during the tour. The tour was a little longer than it advertises due to traffic. We started out at 9:30am and got dropped off at 5:30pm. The city itself is really pretty with all kinds of modern shopping options available, a train station that will rival any Catholic Church in the world, several famous statues and a ton of restaurants. We had some free time in the middle of the day so we decided to eat in the Vlaeykensgang alley, which is a quaint little combination of restaurants and residences that dates back to the 15h century. We also go to do some shopping in the area for our grand niece which was great as well. We would highly recommend going on this tour if you are looking for a day tour of Antwerp.Written September 6, 2024

- gailmhamilton10 contributionsDisappointed with the Tripadvisor tour guideI was treated very unkindly and unprofessionally by the tour guide. Amsterdam is a beautiful city and my enjoyment was impacted negatively by the tour guide’s unprofessional behaviour towards Tripadvisor’s customers.Written August 30, 2024
- Ben T0 contributionsGreat TourExcellent tour that covered a wide variety of relics, memorials and sights. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant and presented information / facts right throughout the day even on the drive back. Takes approx 13hr in total as the drive from Ypres back to Brussels via Bruges is quite long. Lunch provided was a free drink and baguette. Would recommend as many of the sites are dotted all over the Ypres region and this way you can cover the best bits without doing any of the planning. Last Post ceremony and Meningate was very poignant.Written August 26, 2024
- T8673BQjims0 contributionsLooking for DiamondsThis is an easy trip to make from Brussels. I may have over-anticipated, but I was expecting more from the visit. When you think of Antwerp, generally your first thought is of diamonds. The diamond portion of this trip was walking down a sidewalk, peering into jewelry store windows like I can do at home. And that was on the way to the train station where we got about 10 minutes to look at its blend of old and new architecture but not much about history. My wife and I had a wonderful breakfast which included our first Belgian waffle. Our guide gave us a great tour of the city's history, which included interesting elements from across the centuries. It's an inexpensive tour and gives the traveler another look at some of the many areas in and around Brussels. If you just want to hit the highlights, this tour will do it. If you are really interested in learning about Antwerp's military and commerical history, a personal guide would be a better bet.Written August 25, 2024
- 132lumm0 contributionsGreat guide, but was not only in English.Great tour of Luxembourg and Dinant. Guide was friendly and knowledgeable. However, tour is actually a mixed language tour, so much of the explanations were hard to follow as the guide switches between the 2 languages.Written August 22, 2024
- T8673BQjims0 contributionsLoved Dinant, Luxembourg Not So MuchOverall we appreciated our tour to Luxembourg and Dinant. Our tour guide was knowledgable, glib, and energetic. It was just too much for a single day. Dinant proves to be a charming European town with a lot of history and positive energy. Photo ops were numerous. Not there long enough. The remainder of the trip to Luxembourg was delayed because of some uncontrollable traffic issues and that may have impacted the tour there. Some of the history was interesting but the city is just too large for a single walking tour. Got a lot of background on governmental and religious history but not enough about Luxembourg's place in the world today and how that evolution has occurred. Probably should just have been a separate tour on that.Written August 22, 2024
- Compass328633274630 contributionsGreat Trip to Dinant and LuxembourgWorth taking a trip if you are in Brussels. Our guide Miguel was very helpful and knowledgeable- about history and current affairs. We visited Dinant to see the city (of Leffe beer) - then to Luxembourg where we had a walking tour, lunch break and then almost more than an hour on our own. Had enough breaks for restrooms. Definitely recommended.Written August 16, 2024

We used viatour to book many tours throughout Europe and all were great so we were excited to embark on this tour. Unfortunately of the many tours we took, this was the worst one and was horrible. The tour guide was unengaging and didn’t seem to care about us or the trip. What made us most upset was he dropped us off in front of a tourist trap and encouraged us to eat only there and said it had the best prices and he didn’t give us enough time to eat anywhere else. The restaurant was way too expensive and they even charged us a euro for ketchup. The tour guide obviously got a kick back from this restaurant as they had his food and the drivers food ready when they arrived and did not charge them. This was overall a bad trip that I do not recommend. Save your money and don’t book with this company.

My father and I have been to this tour with Andra/ Andrea. The tour guide was really professional and informative. She could handle a group of 50 people easily and still deliver pleasant information. Also, I would like to point out that the Asian lady on the front desk was very decent and helpful with us.
I highly recommend this tour!

While I have not wanted to go on large group trips, I did go on this one. I found the organization was well managed in both time and traveler assistance. We arrived at the appointed time, as did four other tours. One would expect this to be the beginning of a nightmare. It wasn't, and was handled very well. The trip included English, and Spanish speakers and our guide Stephen was quite able to speak to both with detail. Enough can't be stated about Stephan's skill and ability to communicate as well keeping track of 40 of us. Specifically, the tour is long and tiresome, however at the end of the day well worth the cost and effort. Some thoughts. Ghent was our favorite and some more free time there would have been nice. Burges was enjoyable as well. A bit overwhelming due to the number of other tourist. Arriving at Burges for the lunch break. I forget the name of the restaurant, but it was encouraged by Stephan and we found it a good recommendation was able to provide quick service with good food, I would give them a good review, but forgot the name. The bottom line here is the tour is good. I wish we would have been able to get a little bit more into it, but a lot to see in what is really a short time. Well done.

Stefaan was an amazing guide. He was extremely knowledgeable on all the areas we visited and could go into more detail when asked about other things not on the tour. He also has a great sense of humor that kept us laughing.
Both Ghent and Bruges are beautiful cities with rich, interesting histories. There is a lot of walking (about 7mi./11km) on uneven stone streets so wear comfortable walking shoes.
I highly recommend this tour and Stefaan!
Additionally the morning of the tour I was running late and the woman at the main office (I didn’t catch her name) called the bus to stop them from leaving and literally ran the 2.5 blocks to the bus with me to make sure I got on.
Such a kind group of people in this company!

It was awesome all around. Our guide Andrea was very knowledgeable and shared a lon of information without being overwhelming. Despite the national holiday and the festival taking place, she kept the group organized and able to enjoy the day. Had we traveled on our own to these two towns, we would not be able to see and learn this much. The rates were inexpensive compared to other trips, and it was worth every penny. A day well-spent, with a very comfortable ride to and from Brussels.

Solo travel to various WW1 & WW2 using various modes of transport, mainly train, tram and bus.
Started in Ghent for three days and from there walked round the city visiting ancient sites like the castle at Gravensteen. Easily accessible from Ghent, via rail are the WW1 sites of Langemark, ypres and the Menin Gate, give yourself a day to take everything in. Also the Waterloo memorial. The memorial itself is amazing but the museum has little or no artefacts from the battle, still worth the entrance fee. Bruges is a delightful historic town with loads of things to see and do.
Ostend has numerous sites to see and from there you can go along the shore to numerous WW2 sites including the Fort De Dune and the Atlantik Wall. A must is a tram ride to Dunkirk. Once you hit the French border, bus rides are free. Follow me on instagram @pome.blog

This was a solid tour. You travel by bus to Ghent, get some history on the bus, get a walking tour of the city, which includes the Cathedral where Charles V was baptized, a key Reformation history figure, and then get about 35 minutes on your own. We wished we had more time to actually visit the castle there. Then you travel an hour to Bruges, do some guided tour, have an hour for lunch, and then more guided tour. You then get maybe 30 minutes on your own and then can go on an extra cost (15 Euro boat tour) or can adventure on your own for longer. We chose to adventure on our own and did a beer tasting at Yesterday's World. Nico, the guide, was great and working really hard, because he was doing the tour in English and Spanish. I was impressed by how hard he was working to cover everything twice in two languages! I understood all of one and much of the other, so this was a surprising learning review for me. However, the tour would be far superior if they just had had to serve one language. It would have let the guided tour part clip along faster and actually get to enjoy more spaces or more free time. We felt really rushed at lunch, as the place we went took long enough we had to gulp down our food and it was so delicious was would have preferred to savor it (Delice, right next to Vivaldi that they recommended for speed but Delice had the rabbit in cherry sauce and beef Flemish stew we had been wanting to try). Most of our tour was also desperate for a bathroom upon arrival in Ghent (morning caffeine and all) and people had to ask several times before we got to where there was a public restroom. So at least at this first stop there really needs to be an immediate or sooner bathroom option. We were told the bathrooms on bus were for emergencies only.

The tour itself was fine and the guide was excellent, but it was not the tour that I paid for. The tour I booked was supposed to be a small group of no more than 20 and in English. The tour I was put on had 50 people and was given in French, English, Spanish, and Italian. This made for an exhausting experience of having to listen to four explanations. I feel that I missed out on information because the guide had to repeat everything four times. We were supposed to see the painting of the mystic lamb, but we were told we needed tickets and did not have time. It was supposed to be part of the tour.

We had a fantastic time whilst visiting Brussels we decided to go on day trip to Ghent & Bruges with city tours. Our tour guide Veronica was excellent, very knowledgeable and delivered the tour in two languages, both of which not her native, very impressive. The tour ran very smoothly and was our highlight of our trip to Brussels. Thank you City Tours & Veronica. I would highly recommend this trip 👍

*** Worst excursion ever booked / We left halfway through ***
1) They changed the entire itenerary the including the city order knowing we were going to get off the tour at the end of the 2nd city in Bruges. This was important because we had a reservation that afternoon in Bruges.
2) We didn't enter a single building, everything was a pass-by, unlike the listing and photos
3) 90% of the tour was in Spanish. He wasn't even fluent in Spanish
4) The tour guide was quiet most of the way. He spoke about 10% of the time about things such as textiles. He seemed tired/bored. No enthusiasm. Not a word about the real history if the city.
5) The only interesting part was the Bruges canal tour which cost 30 euros.
We ended the excursion halfway through at 12:45pm. We asked for a 50% refund, but the guide lied to the website and said we were informed of the itenerary change before we left. We had proof otherwise.

What is the closest train station and how far is it from the departure point? It appears there’s a train arriving the Midi station at approx 8:47 in the morning. Unsure if that’s too tight based on distance

What time is the pick up & drop off? Thank you :)
Written December 5, 2022
What's up Tdot. (east york here). So the pickup/meet spot will always be at the same location, the tour's main office. They want you to be there about 15-20 minutes early (8:30ish). Go inside, tell them which day tour you are there for, they will give you a colored wrist band (and use the facilities while inside!). Your guide will collect you, and you'll take a 5-8 minute walk to the bus (parked elsewhere). You'll probably leave around 9:15am. The return will be about 7pm. You will get dropped off at where you got on the bus, not at the tour's main office location.

Hello - I know meals are not included in the price of this day trip, but is there time allotted for lunch, or are we expected to bring a packed lunch? Also, how do we upgrade to participate in the river/canal tour option?
Written September 2, 2022
You get about 30 mins for lunch so you need to grab something quick to eat. We had to grab our sandwiches and run to make our group after lunch.
They arrange the river trip and you pay €11. The tour guide collects it.
It's a great tour and the tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable.
