- Barbara L0 contributionsA worthwhile intro to the cityA lot of reviewers have denigrated this Hop on Hop off bus. Yes, it's not as big as similar services in other cities, but Antwerp's tourist attractions are fewer and more concentrated than other cities, too. In general, we found it a comfortable and helpful intro to the city. And though it doesn't run very often compared to other cities, it worked well for us as a conduit between the Central Station and the Market Square/Cathedral area.Written July 17, 2018
- Levente Gyula I0 contributionsAntwerpenIt was good for a one-way tour. The crew were so kind and helpful. The English guide in the headsets was clear and understandable.Written July 27, 2017
- barrder0 contributionsGreat City. Poor Bus Ride.Open roof in blazing sunshine turned into a greenhouse. Extremely bumpy and uncomfortable ride backs of the seats were to high and restrictive. Bus not built for cobbled streets.Stuck it for 10 minutes then got off and walked the rest of way I HIGHLY RECOMMEND WALKING.Written June 27, 2017

Citytour was ok till we left the bus at the Station Steenplein, when we tried to get the last bus at 15:25 to Centraal Station and been there 5 min earlier, we where waiting for 15 min. till we phoned the company, and the guy on the phone said, "i was at that station earlier than 15:25 and drove thru because i cant wait there... " we asked for refund and he said, happy new year and hang up...

This hop on hop off does not exist anymore. I waited today for 45 minutes at the central train station and finally asked the driver of a local bus, he's not seen a hop on bus. So it must have been obsolete for some time. There are plenty of little tourist carriage buses that go on a one way circuit - they are not hop on and hop off which is a pity.

Got on this "hop on, hop off" bus having disembarked from a cruise ship.
Seemed like a good idea - we wanted to go and see Central Station, hop off then hop back on in about an hour.
Big mistake.
There were so many people waiting to "hop on" and not enough "hopping off" so the driver had to call for another bus. Said another 15 minutes but didn't believe that. Far too hot to stand around so got a taxi back to the cruise terminal.
The hop on hop off bus had a few faults - I couldn't get my seat belt as it was jammed below the seat as an example.
Very disappointing so won't consider this again

Well, let's say it's ok for a short introduction into the Antwerp history. You actually driving through Antwerp with headphones and an automatic voice that comes up when you cross a certain buildings. But this information comes mostly just too late to see those buildings the voice is talking about. It's also because of the size of the bus that you cannot see these building without a special 'struggle'. Also I'm missing a whole story. Its just a little bit of that and a little bit of this with long brakes between. So the price of 13€ is a bit high for this kind of event.

Bus was on time, driver was helpful and courteous, the tour had a balanced coverage of history, art and contemporary points of interest, with informative and clearly audible commentary in 8 languages (provided through headphones). It was a great introduction to the city of Antwerp and helped us identify where we wanted to spend more time during our visit. Quick tip - if you do not plan to hop off during the tour but want an initial overview with a 1-hour tour, they offer a cheaper “one way” ticket. They also offer a “combi ticket” that includes bus and 1.5-hour or 3-hour harbor tours that depart from MAS area. Driver provides the timetable and the tickets for both.

Nothing extra special, but a quick way to see Antwerp if in the city as we were for only a few hours. We did not wish to get off; however we two groups asked us did one need to specifically ask to be let off at a designated stop. The bus did NOT stop at each place. IF we had wanted off, we would, I assume, go down the stairs to the driver. The narration was clear and informative.

we took the city tour bus a ticket is 7€ pp which is valid 24 hrs, so you can go off to visit a museum or a break for a lunch and continue the tour later. The tour by bus with open deck also has headphones with commentary in 8 languages and explains all the interesting buildings and places in Antwerp, accurate to the street the bus is at. Very nice way to see the city. Starts at Koningin Astridplein the square at the central station hourly at 30 min past the hour.

I stayed on the bus for the round trip back to the station then got back on it when it was due to leave again after 10 minutes. I then got off at stop 6 and walked to stop 7 & 8 then back through the town which has got plenty of signposts telling you what to see. I ended up walking 14km around the town as there was lots to see. The signposts are good as they tell you where the historical bits are, the shopping bits, the university bits and so on. So I didn't use the bus after that. The biggest disappointment was that none of the windows would come down and the frames were right across your eye line so you couldn't see things properly or get any decent photos.

We are an older couple from Australia visiting Antwerp for the first time and like to use city hop-on-hop-off tour buses to orientate ourselves in a new city. However, this bus trip barely reached the mark. There were only 7 stops and none seemed to correspond to a tourist spot. 2 museums were closed and we were not told about this until we reached the site. Our advise is to get a map and walk because the city is quite small. But - be sure to check what is open and what routes are open due to roadworks.

The tour is overpriced for what they offer. The tour takes only one hour, but the stops are not well advertised around the city. It is not well communicated how to get of during the tour.
and the bus itself has had better days.
Sure, it's a nice way to get to know the city in a very short amount of time, but even the audio is not well recorded. This was done on a low budget and it shows.
My reccomondation is to enroll in a biketour or buy a proper guide and you'll have a better experience in Antwerp.

What can this give that a day ticket on public transport with a decent guide book could not beat? The teams go almost everywhere of interest and the outer bus routes (ex-tram) go to many other places of interest.

Hallo,
