About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- lorrir7530 contributionsGreat way to see RotterdamGreat walking tour with Tania. We did this in our first day in Rotterdam and got a great orientation to the city and learned a lot about the city’s culture and history. Highly recommend.Written May 7, 2024
- Happiness272453861850 contributionsHighly recommendedThis is a very informative walking tour covering history, culture and architecture in Rotterdam. Our guide Silvia was warm, friendly and very knowledgeable. We covered a lot in 2 hours and Silvia gave us some great recommendations of other areas to explore on our own. My friend and I were the only people booked on the tour on a cold morning in January so it felt very exclusive. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rotterdam. It’s a great way to orientate yourself in the city and to understand more about the city’s rich history that only a tour guide could explain.Written January 22, 2024
- zacharys6520 contributionsA view of contemporary Dutch buildingBecause of scheduling constraints, we couldn't make the Architecture Highlights Walking Tour, which most people prefer. As it happened, though, we got to spend the morning in central Delft, with its 17th century buildings, then take a train 20 minutes and get this wonderful Walk South tour of 21st century Rotterdam, focusing on the new developments near the Wilhelminapier. It felts like traveling 450 years in a day. And it was a pleasure to meet Maria, our guide.Written July 12, 2023
- leroyp9320 contributionsPleasant and interesting tour!We were very pleased with the tour. We had an enjoying walk of around 2 hours, guided by Sylvia, with good explanation and pleasant interaction. Moreover, because of a misunderstanding on our side, we missed our time slot as initially planned, but the organizers have adapted their schedules and offered a second time slot the following day, which suited very well. An activity which we definitely can recommend!Written February 23, 2023
- liusila0 contributionsOverpriced and superficialThe tour guide took much too long to tell us much too little. The entire walk and information relayed could have taken 30 minutes, yet we shuffled around for 2 hours learning very little. The tour guide seemed to struggle to express themselves in English but also didn’t seem to have engaging or informative scripts prepared either. It wasn’t terrible, but I would have accepted the quality for a free tour instead of having paid £70 for two people. A few members of the group abandoned the tour midway through, and I don’t blame them. Not worth it at all.Written December 6, 2022
- D2455OQfilipef0 contributionsReally nice TourIt's a really nice Tour and touched most of the main points in Rotterdam. The starting point is easy to find if you travel by train. Tania was super adaptable even with the language barrier and really friendly.Written April 5, 2022
- so_af3650 contributionsSuper cool and educative!Very well curated, the guide Tania was super nice and told us all the interesting insights about Rotterdam's iconic buildings and fun facts:) really happy with the tour, I would go again!Written July 3, 2021
- Chedad20180 contributionsDifferent architectural designsA good walk through the cube houses is great experience including the nearby attractions like Markthal and the great alley through magnificent buildings with architecture to marvel at.Written September 9, 2019
- tonyandjo20180 contributions'Walk Centre' tour with SilviaWe had an absolutely wonderful tour with Silvia. There were only 3 of us in total, so we got a very personalised service and plenty of opportunity to ask questions. In fact our tour went well beyond the allotted 2.5 hours, without any sense that we needed to hurry along. We would highly recommend Walk Rotterdam to anyone seeking a tour of Rotterdam's architectural highlights - of which there are many.Written June 12, 2019
- Jerry D0 contributionsFor anyone who loves architectureRotterdam, we learned, is all about architecture. Our guide, Tanya, explained how World War 2 left the centre of the city entirely devastated by bombing, but a blank slate for redevelopment. The result is, as she stated, an architectural innovation laboratory. We were extremely fortunate that we two were the only clients on this tour, so we were able to really engage Tanya. She is a landscape architect and very knowledgeable about how the buildings relate to each other, the city's history and the overall urban design. The tour length was great, as we covered a good distance, and following how building form has evolved in the last 70 years. If you are a fan of architecture, you'll love tour.Written June 8, 2019
- Whitehalltraveller0 contributionsBrilliant architecture tour!We thoroughly enjoyed this architectural tour of Rotterdam, it was led by an architect who was able to explain why Rotterdam has embraced modern architecture. We could have easily carried on walking for a lot longer and actually went over time as it was so interesting.Written May 8, 2019
- VWMAYER0 contributionsArchitectural Tour Par Excellance With Silvia! Our architectural walking tour with Silvia was superb! Knowing of Rotterdam’s Cube Homes and other notable modern structures, I really wanted to find a tour led by a well-informed local architect. Silvia was all that and more! If you are an architect or an interior designer, such as myself, the 90 euro (for my husband and myself for 3 hours with Silvia was well worth it!Written September 27, 2018
- Henk H0 contributionsA "must do" for a lover of city development and architecture. With Sylvia we have walked for more then 2.5 hours from Rotterdam Central Station to the Erasmus bridge. She guided us not only along the so-called highlights, but also put our attention to elements, structures and buildings that you normally overlook. She couples insight in architecture and city development with enthusiasm for Rotterdam. This made the tour to a fantastic experience. I have been born in Rotterdam and in the eighties I often visited the down as a teenager. She was able shed light on things I had seen so often, but never thought about. This tour is a must-do, for those who love culture and want to get a different view on RotterdamWritten September 2, 2018

We very much enjoyed the walking tour by our guide Sylvia. It was a weekday in January and we were the only two people on the tour so it turned out to be essentially a private tour. Sylvia was very personable and knowledgeable of the subject matter. We saw all different areas of architecture in Rotterdam. We felt we learned a lot and got a lot out of the tour. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in getting to know some of the history of architecture in Rotterdam.

Loved this tour, the guide was great and clearly has a love for Rotterdam as well as for architecture. I’m not very knowledgeable about the subject but her passion was clear. I found this to be a great way to learn about the history of the city and am looking forward to coming again with different visitors. We were late due to a train mistake on my part and the guide couldn’t have been more helpful to us catching up and forgiving of my error. Thank you!

Our walking tour was simply amazing! Our tour guide, Tanya, was very knowledgeable, freely sharing her experiences and wast educational knowledge to make this tour the highlight of our time in Netherlands . To have an architect leading the small group in Rotterdam, the architectural wonder of Europe and the world, is a fantastic idea and now, I believe, is the only way to visit Rotterdam! This is how you want to discover all the famous and hidden architectural details you would miss otherwise. Thank you, Tanya, for our amazing introduction to Rotterdam!

We had a fabulous time with Sylvia and learned a lot on this very interesting walking tour. It was the perfect introduction to Rotterdam at the beginning of our 5-day stay. The 3 hours went by quickly, topped off by a brief but exciting water taxi ride across the harbor. We are both in our 60s and didn't have any issues with walking or resting, since the city is pretty flat and the pace was comfortable. Sylvia was very kind and patient as she shared her inside knowledge of the city.

The guide was really very friendly and passionate about the topic. She was able to convey it very well to me, as a non-architect, as well as to my architecture-loving boyfriend.
Every trip in Rotterdam should start with a tour with Walk Rotterdam.
100% recommendation!

Sylvia was great...had alot of great local info on the rebuilding of the city postwar. Great city and wonderful lore. Great to have a practicing architect explain a transformation from scratch for a city.

Sylvia was a great guide. We got to see all the architectural highlights of Rotterdam in just a few hours. The tour content included stories on architecture, Rotterdam's history, urban development and more. You really got a sense of hose Rotterdam has transformed since WWII - and indeed how it is still changing. I am more of the architecture buff - but my wife enjoyed the tour as much as I did.

Communication before the tour was great, I received a reminder email. The tour was very informative, giving context and background to the buildings. Some plans and drawings of the inside parts of buildings were shown where it's not possible to go into the building. Tania was very friendly. She answered all our questions (we asked lots about planning and public realm design well as the architecture) The price was very reasonable. I definitley recommend this tour!

The guide was very knowledgeable but the comments often referred to architects and architectural concepts that I didn't know about.
