Last weekend we took a city trip with friends, this year to Haarlem. As always, we book a bike tour through the city and we almost always do this through Baja Bikes. This has always been well arranged and has never been disappointing, both at home and abroad.
We would have the tour on Saturday morning at 10am. On Friday afternoon we received a call from Bike Tours Haarlem and were informed via a voicemail message that the tour could not take place on Saturday morning! They had no guide and forgot to follow through with the cancellation and notify Baja Bikes, and thus us, a few weeks ago.
I tried to contact Bike Tours Haarlem by telephone. I called 12 times, went through all possible extension menus and finally left a voicemail. An hour later I received a call back and was answered by a different young man than the one who left the voicemail. Perhaps it would have been better for them to consult together first, because this person told a different story than his colleague. It was almost laughable! 2 Different stories, 2 different excuses!
In any case, on Friday afternoon around 5:30 PM our tour for the following morning was canceled and we had to figure it out.
Fortunately, we still enjoyed ourselves on Saturday morning, but would have preferred a guided city tour to introduce us to the fun and interesting things of Haarlem.
I would like to note that the 'working method' of Bike Tours Haarlem is separate from Baja Bikes! We have already booked many tours through Baja Bikes and they usually organize them themselves. Now they would have Bike Tours Haarlem do this and that was not a success for us in any case.
So not a positive experience for us with Bike Tours Haarlem!

Team Bike Tours Haarlem

Our tour was about 2 1/2 hours long and our guide was very knowledgeable about the area. We were able to see several things along the way and learned a lot about the Haarlem area.

The title really says it all. Bikes are new, 3 speed coaster brakes. 12 to the group as advertised. Our guide Ruben was excellent. They did start about 30 min late due to technical problems. This didn't shorten the tour of course, but they comped us Netherland snack plate from nice restaurant around the corner. They don't take Visa or US cash.

relaxed, friendly, easy-paced; adequate stops for information. The main difficulty was locating the place - inside a home furnishings shop! Thanks to Reuben for a real insight

We had a really enjoyable bike tour of Haarlem and the surrounding countryside. It was so exciting to be riding a bike in The Netherlands!
Our two kids, 4 and 8 were happy and comfortable in the attached rear seats on our bikes and they loved every minute of the tour.
Rob was such a wonderful tour guide... we learned a lot about Haarlem's interesting past and also really enjoyed getting out of the city to explore the gorgeous country side.
It was a relaxing and fun experience because Rob was such a lovely person... we were sad to say goodbye!
I booked the tour from home (Australia) and it was easy to communicate with Benjamin via WhatsApp.
If you are lucky enough to be in beautiful Haarlem, I would recommend this tour!

We wanted to get a quick taste of Haarlem, so we hired BikeTours Haarlem to take us for 2 hours. We specifically asked for a family (we have a 10 and 6 year old) focused tour and they delivered - with a stop in the park/petting farm! The bikes are in beautiful condition; although I would have preferred a "ride along" for my 6 year old vs. the seat (she's a little old for that). My ONLY complaint is that we could NOT locate the meeting/bike pick up location! We drove around for close to an hour and could not figure out where they are located. We actually were at the back of the building, but there was no signage and the door was locked. We finally realized (thanks for a police officer) that they are INSIDE another store and that we had to park in a big parking structure and walk through a "mall" and into another store (again with very small signage for Bike Haarlem). Unfortunately, since we could not find them we ended up being about 45 minutes late for our tour and they did not extend our time - so we didn't receive our full 2 hour tour (and it was not inexpensive). I realize they are a "new" company; so I hope they improve the signage and directions to their shop! This is the only reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of more!

The guide was very friendly and the bikes were ideal.
Information was good, but too much time spent on certain subjects like the prison building and the historical courtyards, nothing mentioned about facts like Frank's Hals museum.

I don’t know where to start because everything from start to finish was excellent! First of all, I had been communicating with Benjamin via email 3 weeks prior to our trip. He was quick to responsed and super helpful with all my questions. On my end however, I was slow to give an exact date, but Benjamin was able to fit us (a family of 5: 2 adults, children 12, 10, 8 yr old) into the weeks schedule, which was a gift!
Once we booked we were set for our adventure. Yannick, our tour guide was INCREDIBLE!
First was a little one-to-one action, which ALWAYS helps you to connect to your customer/clients. He wanted to know about us, the family, what WE wanted out of our tour and a little about our background. Loved this because it made you feel comfortable and safe. He then help size the bikes that would work best for our children. Then our adventure began. Yannick gave a little history of Haarlem while we made our way out of the city and towards the beach and it was just enough history that the children where still engaged and enough where my husband and I could ask questions and continue to ride. On the way to the beach was really, for me, the best experience. I come from Texas (where we have hills and the temperature is 90-100+ Fahrenheit during the summer months) so biking in 70 degree weather and no hills was great but the scenery was what made the biking trip great. Yannick stopped at great locations to experience Netherlands and it’s beauty. Once we reach the beach we bike along the Blvd and Yannick took us to where locals would go and we had some snacks and let the kids enjoy the beach some. On the way back we took an alternate route which was also wonderful and great for the kiddos. We all experienced a great tour: a very small sample of life on a bike in Haarlem, the beautiful scenery of the lands of Netherlands, and a final destination of a beautiful beach.
I would really recommend this tour guide group because of Benjamin’s quick response via email questions and Yannick’s knowledge and care for us. True customer service! Thank you again for your help on making our trip memorable and wonderfuland your attitude and service was incredible!

Ruben was amazing. He constructed a tour for my family of five - taking us in the city and the country. My kids had the best time - highlight of the trip!
